I hope they do something similar as to what Sentai and FUNimation are doing with their packaging. As much as I love DVD artwork, slim boxsets save a lot of space; specially since I already have 1,000+ DVDs >_<.

Not to mention the angle feature in the DVDs like FUNi is always a plus<3.

Aw hell no, if they will release their series in those ugly 2-disc keepcases or fragile thinpaks like they do they can count me out. However, If they are doing thinpaks they better go the Nozomi route with chipboard boxes to get my interest. I am all for season-sets though but I just don't want them to look like ass (almost bootlegish) when I put them on my shelf. The only way I would consider buying a show in that package would be if:
a) I really like and could see myself watch it multiple times.
b) the price is right (about the same as a single).
c) great amount of extras.

Sadly, Funimation haven't fallen into any of these since they started doing their thinpaks. Sentai has but even so I am reluctant to shell out money for such a bare product seeing how the videogame industry is flourishing with special/limited/whatever editions and how common artboxes was back in the day when anime actually sold well and didn't have such a widespread availability on the internet.

It gives me hope that they said that "NIS America will make collector's items available for its anime releases", which I hope applies to the dvds themselves and not just useless things like pillowcases and mousepads that you can get separately.

Btw, are Funi still using that angel-feature? I recall they are taking it out of their re-releases but I have no idea if they are still doing them in their new releases.

Also, if you have 1000+ dvds and are starting to run out of space I would consider selling off some of the... more crappy shows. I recently ran into this problem myself, with half that amount, and noticed that shows such as Green Green, Legend of Himiko, Kashimashi and Cosmo Warrior Zero was taking up way more space than any of them where worth (which is none).

Despite high surprise with the company move itself, and on 2 great titles, Trinity Soul kind of drowns out the excitement.

I have a strong feeling they will be dubbed however.

Here's more information from Joystiq and another source:

- Half-season sets
- No B&M release (Best Buy, FYE, etc won't care it)
- Online only (only confirmed retailer is RightStuf, more likely soon)
- English subs being done by MX Media.
- No confirmation on an English dub.

*sigh* I would normally be jumping for joy at the news of PandoraHearts being licensed but when a company that's doing first time releases, makes me think they won't be doing a dub :( Yeah I'm a fond dub lover and was already starting to pick out potential actors in my head.

Toradora was a good choice. Are these going to be subs or dubs?

Quite a nice lineup they chose to enter the industry with. I think it's safe to assume that if they do a good job with these they're in for good. I do have high expectations - don't let me down NISA.

NIS America entering the US anime industry? Awesome! They usually give away cool collector's items related to the things they sell on rosenqueen.

Hopefully they won't treat these shows as terribly as they've treated the Gust RPGs they've localized.

This was taken from another forum:

"I sent an email to NIS asking if the releases were going to be subbed or dubbed and I actually got a reply in less than a day saying that all 4 series will be subbed but they may do a dub in the future. I sent the email to the address listed on their press release, the link to which I posted earlier."

Looks like the company is going down the Sentai road, and waiting for first sales. Toradora can easily sell good enough for a dub, but it's Persona ~Trinity Soul~ i'm iffy about.

Yay for Toradora! (and the others as well) Perhaps we'll get the Toradora V/N on the PSP games since Disgaea Infinity (which is a v/n) is coming in America. But I can't take a bet on this.

Also...Ar Tonelico 3 localisation WHERE?

I'm highly supportive of this. Can't wait to see what they do. It's good that they chose popular titles, but I fear for the worst. It's great the companies like FUNimation and VizMedia finally have more competition. Kinda getting tired of having the both of them get almost all the good (or bad) titles.

I'm excited that I'll be able to buy Pandora Hearts soon.
I am a little worried about the dubbing, but that's alright.
Not all dubbing is good, but I want to give money to the Japanese creators.

Interview of NIS America's PR manager and Vice president on this week's ANNcast

- Chances of it being dubbed are slim (because they are reluctant no one would buy it regardless, as Zac Bertsky pointed out)
- They don't seem to expect Toradora to sell big despite gaining the largest buzz of the aquisitions they licensed.
- It may only be available online via Rightstuf, Amazon, BestBuy (I think)

I hope they release Pandora Hearts on dvd, region 2.
:/

I have a multiregion dvd player it's just I would have to keep tuning from my ps3 to the dvd player. So I hope they release it on european format, then it will be easier for me to watch.

In an ANN interview, they said they are not going to dub these first initial batch of shows they licensed because they want to play it safe with the finances.

So what, they're gonna see how much they make from licensed subs then IF they manage to make a fair profit, release it dubbed?

Ah damn it, I'd rather have Funimation have it even though I'm not a fan of monopoly.

Probably these first initial shows won't be dubbed at all, even at a later date. Though, if these shows do well, then maybe other shows that get licensed later will be dubbed. Who knows.

No English dub for Pandora Hearts? That's rather a shame, because if they did a good job it would have been nice, given its Victorian England-style setting. I hope there will be lots of cool features or something to make up for that... Imma want awesome Pandora Hearts DVDs! And it better be sweet covers for the cases too.
