| Now that I'm catching up to where I was in the anime, I understand why some were so adamant about decrying the censorship and major changes. Probably one of the best examples I've yet seen of a manga being an outright better work of fiction than its adaptation. Even though some things are well done, these few chapters covering the Devil Python fight have proven the anime was mostly uncappable of presenting this story the way it was envisioned. The tone and style were upended to the point of being changed into something completely different. Obviously, it wasn't so poorly done as to turn me away from the series completely, but I doubt lingering around any longer to watch more would've helped its case at all. |
