Depends on the storyline.

There are times where it'll suck as hell because of the cliche plot.

I tend to go for seinen, but I can enjoy really good shojo or sci-fi shojo and shonen if it doesn't feel like its dragging. Difficult to pinpoint what I like, if it's good I like it, but I can certainly say that I used to hate shojo.

I'm not the type to like romance stuff. I like action and comedy things like Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater.

It doesn't really matter to me as long as it has good art. Although, my list is mostly made up of shoujo...

Shounen, mainly because the art appeals to me a lot more than in shoujo manga. I find that I can't get into the series unless I like the art.
I write about manga → morningroo.com

Generally, I hate shoujo. Most of my favourite manga are all shonen so I gotta say shonen. I don't like the typical shonen which are 'I gotta power up to protect everybody' kinda thing cuz that's common and too predictable. I'm more into action shonen and sports.

It's very weird that im a girl and like reading manga that was intended for boys. Shojo is like that Twlight crap. Girl meets guy. Girl falls in love with guy. New guy appears. Girl have to pick between both of them. I don't like that type stuff.

Mostly shoujo. The only shounen I read are from CLAMP, because generally, explosion and fight scenes don't look so cool on paper.

I'm pretty diverse. In all honestly, it just depends on the plot and the mood I'm in.

Sometimes, when I feel like reading something that makes me go "moe", I'll read shoujo. If I want to read something exciting, then it's shounen.

If I had to pick though, Shounen would definitely win.

I don't really care about the genre. As long the story and art are good, I'll read it.

especially the feminine looking guys on flowered backgrounds. for a guy it can be very hard to look at.

Heh, those are hilarious examples. There are actually a lot of shoujo readers that also dislike it when you can't tell if the character is a man or a woman. However, I have seen some pretty sissy looking men in shounen stuff too.

Here you go, here's a picture of a shoujo guy which spares you the flowery background:

To answer the question, I like to read and appreciate stuff from all of the target age groups (shounen, shoujo, seinen, and josei) and most all of the genres (action, adventure, fantasy, drama, psychological, thriller, horror, romance, comedy, ect.), but if I had to pick I would say that I enjoy shoujo more than shounen.

I mainly read shonen, but after a while I got tired of all the fighting/power-ups/slow pace (One Piece being the exception of course XD)
I enjoyed some seinen, though it's often too serious for me.
Recently I also found shojo mangas that I really liked (aka Skip Beat), although it IS rare to find shojo that aren't too cheesy/cliché/annoying.

Pfft, what are you reading..

My answer would be shoujo. I also love shounen written by women apparently. Like Matsuri Special or even FMA.

Shoujo - but I generally dislike things set in high school. It gets so boring after a while. Girls treating high school like it's the only place to find their "destined lover" or whatever is really infuriating after a while. :|

I love "action" shoujo and shoujo set in sort-of-medieval lands with monarchies and such. If I am going for a more "realistic" story I'd rather read something set after high school, which usually means josei instead.

I like shounen a lot, but I have a problem with its length. Too many go on too long and many times I like an author didn't really think about the story as a whole.

Most of the time me too. Though shoujo gets boring after a while. I skip the ones with orphan girls, high school and super-cool-popular-boys, they're just... too obvious to keep me entertained. Oh, and ugly art. I also don't like when the boys look like girls.
But I've been exploring shonen manga recently, and I like what I've seen.

i prefer shonen than shoujo...well shoujo is all about the girls falling in love...or about her daily life..pms and other girls stuffs, ect ect..but it kinda interesting based on the plot... but i i like seinen more that shonen..

It really depends on the artwork and the story. Both of them can be very cliché.The shojo ones are usually set in a highschool and the girls don't have boyfriends and then they fall in love wih some popular guy,her best friend starts to like her, love triangle,blabla..you get the point.
While the shonen ones are usually like the main character is weak but he has to save the world so he trains and etcetc.
But I admit, I like cheezy endings for both of them. And what's a super duper action manga without some romance?:'D
So I'd say both,yes.

Shoujo, without a doubt.

But I do like Shounen as well, like Gintama, SZS, and the like.

Both have cons and pros. But if the shounen anime has romance, then shounen it is.

I read both, and to answer the question I guess I like shoujo better. The shoujo stories and the characters stick in my head a lot longer. I feel that a reminiscent sigh is more worth while than, "dude remember when he was like 'gommu gommu no... and the other guy went 'URYYAAAA' and then boom"

Do you have a couple examples of action shoujo? 700+ manga entries is a lot to sort through.

shounen! :D
I'm not really a big fan of shojo, I like epic storylines and big battles. Seinen's quite good... depending on which type. I liked Elfen Lied, Monster and Hellsing and those were seinen, I'm not sure what Blood+ is... it's a mixture of all 3! (:

But I really love some of the shojo art, e.g. Godchild by Kaori Yuki.

Hm... I tend to read more Shojo, but I really like a lot of Shonen as well. I'm pretty split. It all boils down to the plot line, and how much I can get into the characters. For me to read it, it has to be well drawn with an intricate story.

Both shoujo and shounen are good. It doesn't really matter to me as long as it has a good storyline and art.
But most of the mangas I bought are all shoujo haha

There are good examples of both, I think. I really don't prefer one over the other. Categorization tends to matter less to me than decent stories and artwork.

as people have said, depends. i think i prefer shonen, but i also enjoy some shojo series. i find its a nice departure as many shonen titles tend to have very similar patterns (most notably romance, but i guess you could say the same of shojo) so its a nice break to switch between genres.

but, honestly, some of the stuff in shojo, like between guys, just turns me off.
