He could've at least called it Divine Comedy, would've spared me the embarassment ^^ lol it's okay, it doesn't mean anything. Dante's inferno is referred to as the first part of the divine comedy and not the entire poem. So maybe that's why OP only said dante's inferno. |

| I always thought Berserk was a re-imagining of Shakespeare's Macbeth. I read about some similarities, and they sound pretty similar. I might be wrong, though, dunno. |

It probably isn't influenced by dante's inferno, the similarities are probably just a coincidence |

| This thread gave me cancer. Regarding the question: The Divine Comedy greatly influenced the popular perception of Christianity, hell, suffering, punishment, and so on. If a person portrays hell, terrible suffering or something similar, then with a high chance he takes something from the Divine Comedy, even if he does not know about it, even if he never heard of Dante. In general, it can be difficult to portray something demonic, but not in style of tradition coming from the Divine Comedy. People then simply do not understand that this is an devilish evil force. I think this option is more likely here. So I do not think this can be called hard "inspiration". |
