I have found myself engulfed by the wolf's rain characters and would like another similar show. It doesn't have to have the bleak atmosphere, but quite a few recent anime I have seen do not have realistic characters.

Do you get what I mean. The characters can be out there or crazy, but they should not have that weird otaku persona.

So no real moe, slife of life, harem, ecchi, or that type of genre please and thank you.

SOL is full of characters that live and breath anime stereotypes. I don't want a realistic acting anime character, I want to see an anime character that acts like a real person.

+1 Paranoia Agent
+1 Perfect Blue

Just watch all of Satoshi Kon's works.
Also, all of Katsuhiro Otomo's works.

Some of his works include...
- Akira
- "Magnetic Rose" (from the "Memories" anthology)
- "Construction Cancellation Order" (from the "Neo Tokyo" anthology)
- Roujin Z (this is a good one if you're looking for something realistic and comedic.)
- Spriggan

Hiroyuki Okiura also animates some really nice, realistic characters.

Some of his works include...
- Jin-Roh: the Wolf Brigade
- Blood: The Last Vampiure
- Ghost in the Shell
- A Letter to Momo

Hayao Miyazaki is also really good when it comes to crafting realistic characters, especially in terms of how his characters behave.

You seem to have already watched a lot of his work, but I'd also recommend...
- Mimi wo Sumaseba
- Future Boy Conan
- Omoide Poroporo

Also... speaking of Studio Ghibli... you should check out...
- Grave of the Fireflies

SOL is full of characters that live and breath anime stereotypes. I don't want a realistic acting anime character, I want to see an anime character that acts like a real person.

Then I'll ignore the fact you are 100% ignorant, and mention sol anime anyway. You are going to take my suggestions, and like it, rather you want to or not lol

Moribito Guardian of the Spirit, has the most realistic characters out there(yet this one, is pure sol, so looks like you are wrong about then genre).

Hanasakeru Seishounen

Saiunkoku Monogatari(oops I did it again, pure sol, It's a awesome anime at that, full of very realistic characters)

wait, wait, wait for it, I'm not done yet

Nana(I hate the ending with a passion, but frankly, that's a realistic outcome, atleast for US society, doen't really fit the Japanese life styles or whatnot at all, but if you pretend it takes place in the US, It's just another day here sigh)

Spice and Wolf(ok holo Isn't very realistic, not even personality wise, but every other char is)

hmmm can I think of anymore, why yes, yes I can :)

Victorian Romance Emma(this is the most acute, and highly detailed historical anime ever made, with every char being equally realistic, for the setting)

Then we also have the 2 wuxia anime that exist, The Legend of Condor Hero, and The Legend of Qin, both have very realistic characters.

Oh yea, lets not forget Kingdom either

All of those are sol anime except for Hanasakeru Seishounen really, so shucks, looks like you gone, and shot yourself in the foot, by writing off sol anime for some BS reason.

PS. Woops, how could I forget Kemono no souja erin, definitely check that masterpiece out

Unless I am mistaken, you mean slife of life by sol.

"Moribito Guardian of the Spirit, has the most realistic characters out there(yet this one, is pure sol, so looks like you are wrong about then genre)."

Genres Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Historical

"Spice and Wolf(ok holo Isn't very realistic, not even personality wise, but every other char is)"

Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Historical, Romance

I do not see your point

Moribito is mostly slice of life, but then it adds adventure torards the ends.

No one in their right mind, would call moribito Guardian of the Spirit, a action anime.

Are you fucking kidding, Spice and Wolf, is as sol as you can get, It's about a merchant doing his job, for crying out loud.

It's pretty common for database sites to misstag things, so don't go treating such as being 100% accurate, if that's where you're getting your info from.

PS. Woops, I forgot one, Aishiteruze Baby

There are a lot of awesome sol anime, that aren't so anime as you put it.
