I first noticed this with Mushishi's real-action movie, which barely had a mention... now with Shin Kozure Ookami - Lone Wolf - I had to check on WP to confirm it had movies...

(Ah... damn, wrong forum... now how can I get this on Suggestions? This site is so limited...)

"Background" was just recently implemented. For instance, you can add a note that Mushishi is a film adaptation here: http://myanimelist.net/dbchanges.php?aid=457&t=background

Hm, can be useful, but it should have been implemented long before, for all the ones that already exist but people just didn't fill in... also, would this be displayed along with 'adaptations' etc? As that's where most people would look for alternatives.

MyAnimeList though. They don't have have season 2 of some anime since they weren't made with Japan in mind.

Wikipedia does not distinguish between animated films and live-action films. They are both films. MyAnimeList in a database on animation, so live-action has no place on this site. Our new News Guidelines, released on June 29, does allow for limited reports on live-action adaptations. (See sections 3.II.a, 4.II.b, and 6.II.a.) However, this is not retroactive and only reports on stories from June 29 onward.

Heh, in other words no one site can agree to collect all the relevant information (although Wikipedia does say if it's animated or not in those infoboxes)... still, information is information, I don't see why a site dedicated to anime should exclude other creations by anime makers simply because they're not strictly anime (there's a lot of video game adaptations too).

EvenJellyOn, which series were you thinking of? How can they be a second season if it's not made with 'Japan in mind'?

Because as a DB, MAL should know where to set a line.

Maybe one day or maybe never. You'll never know. But for now, live-actions don't have a place in our DB. Same goes with web novels, visual novels, drama CDs, games and the likes.

At least there's vndb.org and mobygames, though, whereas nothing for live-action adaptations.

There should be various japan movie fansites or even just lists on places like letterboxd.
