So at this point in the series weve covered the equivalent of the 2000 OVA in terms of story.

My question is which version (TV or OVA) is your favorite?

Although I've only seen bits and pieces of the 2000 OVA, I would default to the TV version because it's a complete adaption.

Modern version any day. The animation may be better at times, but the OVA lacks atmosphere.

I want to know as well. For people who watched both, should I watch the OVAs even if I watched Stardust Crusaders?

Not really, it's just a truncated version of the story with less visual or audio flair. Pretty obsolete in most areas now. Norio Wakamoto as a Cowboy is pretty amusing though

The OVA is so bad it's kind of good, especially when you watch it dubbed.

jesus fuck i hope i never hear a grown man use japanese honorifics while speaking english ever again

But if you want an actually good adaptation of Part 3, watch the modern version.
And I mean that in the most sexually painful way possible.

I'm watching an episode of the OVA every friday to keep JoJo Friday alive until the tv version comes back in JoJo January, and I'm actually shocked at how much I like it.

I was informed that the OVAs two major flaws were one they skip a lot of stand fights all together, and two it cuts out all of the humor and the atmosphere is just dark and dour overall. And while both of those are certainly true, I still enjoy it very much.

Of course if I had to choose only one, I'd still have to go with the tv version due to its color, humor, and source material loyalty. Also the sound in the tv version is superior, the awesome music is...awesome, and the voice actors/acting is way better. Although, Hol Horse in the OVA is voiced by the legend Norio Wakamoto, so that's cool to hear.

So yeah I prefer the tv version, but I'd say to anyone who has the time and really likes JoJo to watch both.

I say check it out, but only the 2000 one until after you finish Stardust Crusaders Season 2. It's definitely not as good as the new series because of 2/3 of the fights being cut out and a lot of the atmosphere being removed, but it's still cool seeing those characters animated in the more traditional 90s style.
