Issei Futamata, probably most known for his roles as Yusaku Godai from Maison Ikkoku and Kensei Ma from Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, veteran voice actor with, IMO, extremely recognizable and unique voice, which aside from sounding older and more serious, didn't change all that much from 80s (when you compare narrator from HxH, and Yusaku, for instance).

In this HxH reboot he voiced few supporting named characters, plus, not listed on MAL, a lot (and I mean it) of random characters, like policemen, or passengers.

Anyway, about him being narrator...

I know people don't really care / talk about narrators, but Issei 's work in HxH is one of most amazing I've ever heard, on par with Yusaku Yara in LOGH.

Tone of voice, cold seriousness when he explains situation, or describes inner thoughts and feelings of characters - especially during Chimera Ant arc, where there was a lot of psychological battles, the way he makes HxH seem more seinen than shonen...

Really, he did a great job in HxH.

Yeah, I agree, he really killed it. Made a lot of scenes I really liked even better.

I loved him during Gyro's backstory, he was talking for 9 min non stop and it never got boring. But he had many awesome moments like dragon dive moment, king and komugi moments and the conclusion of the knuckle, morel, meleoron vs youpi fight.

My opinion is that it makes HxH more awesome, but sometimes I get bored from too-much-talk-less-action.

Yeah, I too loved the narrator. Especially in the Dragon Dive scene (Netero & Pitou face off). The freaking atmosphere was just great.

The best narrator. The rest are utter trash.

On a more serious note. I liked the actual voice a lot, but didn't like the narration itself, plus his voice was monotone from what I remember.

Which was probably the point, considering he's supposed to be impartial. Him getting excited would have ruined the atmosphere.

He made feel real despair like Kaiji, by repeating Kaiji words, I felt them 100x more.

Truly the best. He made me cry once...
