I reckon it would be better if you gave us like an example of a video and we give you the song that would match it.

LOL. Funny thing is, the Engrish didn't phase me as much as the song itself. Just seemed to clash with a testosterone fueled series.

Robert Rich's Somnium would make for a great opening! I mean, man, that would be an exciting anime.

edit: Wow, you guys like some shitty music.

I'm not up on Metallica like I was in my younger days, but I could always see Broken, Beat and Scarred as a fitting OP for any battle high school anime such as Ikkitousen, Tenjou Tenge, etc, or any battle shounen for that matter. Not necessarily with their existing OP animations since some might not fit, but play it along with some psychedelic art and some short clashes between the characters and I think it'd work.

You'd have to cut the song down to about < 1:30, though.

a lot of music from the band Jinn would be great in OP

I could also see Devil's Dance fitting well with Thriller/Psychological/Horror anime. The song's got a slow groovy pace that sounds sorta dark.

Actually, you gave me an even better idea. Since you mentioned psych, I thought about Ergo Proxy's OP "Kiri" by Monoral, which was a great fit (still Japanese though) and I thought of something with a similar tempo and feel to it.

I could see Smash Mouth's "Fallen Horses" getting a similar treatment. One of my favorite songs. Hell, Astro Lounge as a whole is fucking excellent, even if All-Star is/was way over-played.

I always figured a lot of the songs from Avenged Sevenfold's album, Hail to the King, would be amazing to hear in anime.

FOR ANIME DIRECTORS/CREATORS IF YOU MAKE AN ANIME ON A MAN WHO WANTS TO CONQUER LIFE WITH DRINK IN HAND, CONQUERING MOUNTAINS, ST.JAMES BY AVENGED SEVENFOLD, THERE'S YOUR OPENING

I'm in depressed mood lately so Sting - Shape of my heart. I know it's the Leon The Profession film's theme song but I just think it'll make a nice anime-opening song too.

Picking some random songs from my very long list of favourites...

"Turning Japanese" by The Vapors would be perfect for comedy/parody.
Franz Ferdinand's "Evil Eye" fits well something like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Infected Mushroom's "Heavy Weight" sounds great for something psychological and intense.
"Happy Birthday" by The Birthday Massacre was made for Higurashi.
Jabberwocky's "Photomaton" & Shiny Toy Guns' "Major Tom" go well with sci-fi.
Nickelback's "Lullaby" is good enough for a cheesy romantic anime.
Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" & Naked And Famous' "Punching In A Dream" for something happy and energetic (high school anime).
"Sorry You're Not A Winner" by Enter Shikari would fit a shounen.
"Cherry Cola" or "Just Nineteen" or anything by Eagles Of Death Metal for the ecchi genre.
"Song To The Siren" by This Mortal Coil & "Riverside" by Agnes Obel for something depressing.
"Closer" (or pretty much anything) by Nine Inch Nails for a dark and sexy anime, such as Mnemosyne.
"The Vampyre Of Time And Memory" by Queens Of The Stone Age for vampires, duh.
"Fly On The Wall" by Tatu for anime involving stalking/yandere romance.
Rasputina's "Transylvanian Concubine", Lacrimas Profundere's "Without" and The Rasmus' "Funeral Song" for something gothic.
System Of A Down, Korn and Prodigy for a violent anime.
Slipknot for a horror/bloody/psycho one.
Lily Allen for a fashionable one.
Aqua for a silly one.

and many more.

Of course the song should fit to the plot and/or style of the anime. If thats the case I think these would do well

System of a Down - Psycho and Chop Suey
Uppermost - Futur
Felxprod - Under the Shadow (maybe it should be remixed for an opening though)
Miami Horror - Real Slow
Rammstein - Du hast
Blockhead - Music Scene and maybe Farewell Spaceman
Angus & Julia Stone - Mango Tree

I know, some will be hard to fit into an opening, but if they're used for the right anime it will be perfect

This is actually something I've thought about quite a bit, I guess it's kind of all in hope since a lot of these songs mentioned will never be used due to licensing etc.

I suppose a lot of songs can work if they're used in a certain type of show and is relevant. I never expected an song by Oasis to fit with an anime but then you have this..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pdqeu9LW2c

I think some kind of catchy alternative rock could be could for any sort of slice of life or any kind of show that isn't too out their with its supernatural elements, something like Money by Peace.

Like a Drug by Queens of the Stone Age would be great for either the OP or ED for a romance show.

Another good one for a romance show would be Only Ones Who Know by Arctic Monkeys though this would probably be better as background music in romantic scenes. The song reminds me of the romance in episode 12 of Bakemonogatari and some of the later moments in Toradora!.

Psychosocial - Slipknot is quite fitting for a horror/action style anime in my opinion, the opening guitar solo would kinda be fitting for any action packed anime
I suffer from severe anxiety :/ but I'm slowly getting to grips with dealing with it :) So next time you're stressed, take a step back, inhale and laugh :D Remember WHO you are and why you've come this far. I don't believe in god or the like, but I do believe that no challenge we face is impossible to complete, no mountain too high, no load too heavy :D Be flexible, make time for the things you enjoy. Love yourself and love others, just remember, life is a beautiful rollercoaster. There are the awesome highs and the scary lows, just remember - keep moving forward, roll with the punches :)
