| Depends. I stand by my beliefs. And in my terms, if I say something, it goes, and there's almost no way to change that. However, if there was a situation where I could get something I wanted, and all I had to do was change one of my beliefs, I would change one that I'm on the fence about. But let's say it was a belief about a "New World Order" and the "Illuminati". There's no solid proof behind it and I simply can't believe in it, which is one situation where absolutely nothing could change my belief in it. Exception: if you can provide me hard evidence, or convincing evidence that tells me that it does exist and I should worry about it, THEN I will believe you. |

Any belief of mine that contains an objective truth claim at its core is subject to change if convincing contrary evidence comes along - whether I like it or not. However, I have some strongly held beliefs related to questions that don't necessarily have a single right answer; political views often fall into this category. My political views have changed considerably over time, and the changes have generally been influenced by evidence and life experience. However, I can often see the point of the other side, so it does not make sense for me to consider my political viewpoint the only correct or valid one. |
