Well, when I was a kid, I used to purchase the manga from a bookstore, but now I only read the manga online.

I read scans online it the easiest way or I download them from a site.
If I could I would order them from the internet but that’s way too expensive.

8 euro’s for something that’s fee online.
So I buy only if I have money to spare, or really like a serie.

I read manga online, still buy them though. Normally order online because I live in a village. The volumes look great on display and comes in handy when internet stops working lol. :) I love collecting things. Unfortunately I haven't been able to afford anything this month so that sucks.

I buy ones that I want for the most part.
Other than that, I go to the library and check out 2 - 5 at a time, but my local library(ies) don't have many full series as far as I know.
I read some scans, but only the first chapter of most so I can see if they're interesting. THEN, if they are, I go buy them.

If I'm serious about a series but it's not at the library or Borders, I will buy online, but I've only done that once.

Kind of a mix of them all.

I get licensed releases from the library and download scanlations of unlicensed series (never reading online, though, since downloads are better quality and there's no waiting for pages to load and I find navigation easier and quicker). When I really like a series, usually 8/10 or above, and it's available in the USA, I buy it online: usually used, but new if I'm determined to support it (such as with 70s shoujo, which needs all the support that it can get).

oh, these little earthquakes

I read manga online first and if I like it I buy it because reading scans isn't ideal (you can't turn a few pages back easily or re-read a part from previous volumes or chapter).

Actually that's the ONLY solution for me since there is NO local manga store in my country at all. And I can't order them online either e_<"
Heck I wonder if the people living here know what manga is.

I love purchasing my manga not only do I prefer to read manga in book form but it's really nice to actually go out and shop for manga.

Plus I download all my Anime so I like to balance that out by putting back into the community by purchasing my Manga.

I voted for 'Read scans online' but I download a lot too. Also, I bought some through the net when the series was licenced 'cause to purchase in the bookstore is impossible here where I live. The first time I've seen some manga is being sold here was a few months ago in a new department store. But even so, there was only a few volumes from three or four series...

If it's not licensed and it's fairly short, I'll read it online, sure, no other way to get it.

But there's something about having a physical book in your hand that I really like, so I'll do a mix of everything else. The wait sometimes can be fun, anxiously awaiting the next volume! And if it's too painful, I'll go online if I must.

Libraries are great for test driving, saves me a lot of money in the long run while I don't mind taking a risk since I'm borrowing it for free.

But I have no problems with used bookstores, a rather large portion of my collection is used but in good shape and it costs a fraction of what a new one would cost, so why not?

Recently started playing a bit of COD again (change of pace) but inbetween matches I read manga I get from the library. Reading Fruits Basket at the moment, have most volumes (missing a few later ones) and it works out pretty well.

8 out of 10 purchases, I would say, come from bookstore visits. I live very close to several cities and several malls so I have easy access to check out manga and select what I want to read. Usually stuff I've heard of but unsure if I'd have an interest in I'll sit down and read the first manga or two and then decide if I want to purchase it.

I've grown accustomed to finding out of print manga online every now and then, and buying those when I feel the price is right. They are usually used, which doesn't bug me as long as I have them and I can read them at least a few times.

I seldom visit the library, but for a while I was browsing their manga selection and was surprised to come across some series. I did read some of them - usually they don't have a full series, or part of it is checked out at any given time - so I will visit the library again when I'm super poor and crave more manga.

Otherwise, I rarely read scans online. Not even as much as I visit the library. I just don't know what it is, maybe that fact that it's actually in a book somewhere bugs me into thinking, "Man, I could get away from the computer, relax, and read this somewhere else!" That is, unless it's scanlated. Then I really don't have a choice.

But usually I'm reading licensed stuff in the bookstore, or stuff I've purchased from the bookstore.

I prefer buying the manga(at bookstore) that sounds interesting to me. I usually end up liking it. So I continue the series. On rare occasions if I don't like it I'll just give it to someone. I don't really enjoy reading scans online.
