| I don't have any problem with people who think anime sucks. It's quite a sensible reaction when all you've seen is the crap they air over here. Seriously, when I grew up I thought anime was all kids shows, some of it senseless violence a la dragonball z, and some of it better but obviously meant for kids a la digimon. I had an inkling that good anime (besides miyazaki) existed, because I remembered one of the shows they aired over here, gundam z, actually being quite good. However, I wouldn't ever have realized that anime doesn't suck if my friend hadn't dragged me into it. A person who thinks that anime sucks is a convert waiting to happen. |

| Generally irksome, because the people that are vocal about their dislike of anime tend to be ignorant. And probably haven't seen much of any series. They don't know what they're missing, and they're making themselves look stupid. |

| I think they're entitled to their opinion. In all honesty, some anime fans are a bit irritating and it's easy to get the wrong opinion when most anime is about girls with big boobs and what not. |

| Well, there are a lot of reasons to not "get" anime. Cultural differences, small sense of humor, bad dubbing ("GO'ZILLA!! Syndrome."), a distaste for art, a distaste for cartoons, a distaste for the cute, etc. So really, most anime's are an acquired taste. But I do think almost anyone can like Deathnote. |

| I can't really blame them. Typically the people who dislike anime to that extent have only seen the mainstream bullshit that's aired on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or even Disney. It's sad how America ruins anime... But with that being said, if more people were exposed to better formulated, and well told anime's, I doubt it'd be as taboo. Also, if you add in the fact that there are cosplayers (which is the stupidest thing I've ever seen), anime seems to rightfully earn its bad rep nowadays :/ |

| I don't really care whether people believe anime sucks or not. There are quite a few things others like that I despise, so I can't make judgments. What I cannot stand, however, is when people who automatically believe that anime is a lesser/weirder form of entertainment start ostracizing or making fun of those who do enjoy it. |
| i used to hate anime (probly close to about 10 years ago). whenever i heard the word anime i just pictured some cosplayin' nerds fappin' away to hentai (only cuz a friend of a friend got caught with hentai by his mom lol). i was ignorant then but i do understand why people can hate it so much. its incidents/stereotypes like these that drive people away. |

| I think it's hard for anyone to say "all anime sucks" because anime has an infinite variety of genres like movies or tv shows so if they say 'anime sucks' they're just hating and don't wish to give it a chance. |
| Well it generally depends on the person most of the time I either think: 1) "This person would probably like it if they watched X series" This is generally when I know the person in question well enough to know that they have not watched much anime and that there is a series I have watched that they would probably adore if they just ignored their bias for a while. 2) "This person just doesn't like it" / "It just don't suit their tastes" Ah well that's life. I mean imagine how unbearably boring the world would be IF EVERYONE SHARED THE SAME OPINION |

| Eh, Youtube is totally just full of stupid comments, really. I really wouldn't stress over their importance or relevance. But in general, when interacting with those people, I recognize that they've seen little to nothing of the genre, and base their prejudices on the fandom and maybe some clips or some episodes or even are caught up in bashing it because BASHING GEEKS IS SO FUNNY AND SO COOL TO DO LAWL. I have tried to dig to the root of the issue and what makes it suck so hard, but I realize it's really all about preference. Some people like watching history shows or chick flicks as their niche, whereas mine is watching cartoons, be it in Japanese or English. I've always liked cartoons, and anime helped me from growing out of them, and even gaining an appreciation for art and animation and all the work that goes into it. There's much more going into it than I realized when I was younger, so that thrills my adult side while entertaining my inner child. Some people aren't that open minded and assume cartoons are for kids, or simply feel they just have better things to do and watch. I have a friend who watches pretty much nothing but Dragonball Z and Pokemon and claims the rest of it pretty much sucks, and is constantly bashing it. Rather obnoxious, but in my elitest, almighty opinion I've dismissed him as "having no taste," simply because I don't think he cares to even try to watch anything else, plus the fandom has freaked him out and yet made him burst out laughing since high school. So stereotyping does a lot to a person. Yet he'll go to anime conventions - think all the cosplayers are stupid freaks, but still have a good time. There are some things I like about American cartoons compared to anime, like humor. But I pretty much see them on the same wavelength. Cartoons are cartoons, no matter how you look at it, so I don't stress over liking one more than the other. Even with "anime" being a Japanese word, the Japanese do not distinguish between those two groups. But there's still a lot to love about anime, otherwise I wouldn't be in the fandom this long, despite all the hate. |

| I honestly couldn't care less about people hating anime. All that matters to me is that I enjoy watching it. I'm not surprised anime is hated, I would be if it wasn't. There isn't a thing that doesn't get hated, may it be many or less, so the same goes for anime. |
