| There are many people who have problems with .gif images, you're not the only one. What you could try is to upload a .gif with a small file size, like smaller than 20 kB. Not sure if that helps but all the problematic .gifs I've seen had a large file size. |

| This .gif is 47 kb, but it's not only .gifs that are giving the problem... .png and .jpg are having the same issue. It's like the server set the images, regardless of the amount of images you try, it will just revert to the set one. |
| Meh, it's been three days already since I uploaded mine and still nothing, I tried everything Luna posted but still nothing, even changed proxy. Nothing. I don't know what I can do anymore aside waiting. I'll try uploading a .png version. |

| Dang it, I'm having the problem again. I tried uploading a new avi but it keeps switching it back to my old one. I changed the png file into a jpg file like last time, but no luck. EDIT: Now it's now switching it to a really old avatar I had a long time ago.. |

| I've updated my profile pic and it appears to have changed (to me at least) but when I log out and find my profile it's still my old pic. It's been like this for days and hasn't updated. Anyone know why? Or what can be done about it? Also it seems to me like the MAL interface likes .png more than .jpg. Whenever I would try to upload a .jpg it would say "type of file not compatible please use .gif .jpg or .png." I would just sit there and think "Wtf this is a .jpg file!" Finally I started using .png files exclusively. But now I've got more profile pic troubles that I can't seem to figure out. Anyone have a solution or info? EDIT: It updated. I really think it had something to do with the file being .png rather than .jpg thread moot. |

I have almost 2 weeks since I'm trying to change my profile picture and forum avatar and fail terrible. It's all all under MAL's requirments compatible image type :JPG , small size but I still can't get it to work... All I get is "Picture uploaded successfully. You can send me one or some of those images you had problems with and I can tell you if you had the same problem or if it maybe was something else. |

| I changed the file type and clear my cache and still got my old profile picture. Other people can see it and i just loaded up IE and i can see it on there. There's no way I'm using that piece of crap though. I'm using Firefox. Only cleared my cache recently so I'm gonna wait till morning and if it still hasn't changed I'll report back >.> |

I had no success with Chrome either, but Firefox worked flawlessly. |

| It's 100x100, png format, and it just won't upload. It says upload successful but it's just not showing up. Why? I uploaded it yesterday, it's supposed to be Moka but all I'm seeing is Dekomori. :T |

| It sometimes takes time for the image to change. Since the picture is not being hosted somewhere else, it has to upload on to the mal server. That takes time, and depending on the amount of traffic mal has at the time, how long it takes can very. You could also try clearing out your cookies that may help. |

| It took me 4 months, about 100 trys and several random setbacks (the new one suddenly switched back to the old one again) for mine to finally change. And I'm still not convinced it's gonna stay like that this time. |

| Try this. Some common things to help is using a different browser and changing the file type. I have found that if you upload the avatar and then without refreshing the page upload it again then it sometimes works. |

| I've been trying all the common solutions as well. I've tried clearing my cache ctrl + f5 to refresh without using a cached page but from my perspective, it is a problem on the server side(not to be pointing fingers). Personally, I have been trying to upload a gif i recently made and what is happening is that my older gif(one that I don't even have on my computer) is the only one showing. Now I went and uploaded a jpg and that was fine up until I tried to upload a different jpeg the next day, in which what I got was the jpg I tried to replace. Now I asked my friend to check to see if my jpeg changed and he said it did, but I can't see the change myself. Problem for me is when i try to do the same with my gif, my friend doesn't see the new gif at all either so I am really just waiting until this whole thing clears up. |

| Here Luna_ posted some tips that might help. Something that helps me is where you upload the pic, upload it, then without refreshing upload it again. When you upload it again it should change the preview pic on the left. The pic on the left is how the forum sees your avatar, so if it's not updated there then it won't be on the forum. And a good thing to do is to refresh your page like a couple times, that sometimes shows the change. And there will be times where your avatar will change while browsing, that is normal and it usually goes back to what it's supposed to after a little while. |
