As far as world-building goes Canvas town is interesting. But the plot twiddled it's thumbs for 20 minutes this episode.

@Vindicater yeah but a good author will organically grow the world while moving the plot along at the same time. This episode boiled down to- hey we need to do this thing before we leave on our journey, oh no the guy we needed to do the thing is dead, let's party?

Damn, This episode had an unexpected beginning and an unexpected ending. Loved the fireworks.

Also, someone pointed out here that Rudo's gloves were probably handed to him by Regto (Was Regto a powerful person in the past?) in the same way as the pen.

I get the feeling Gob’s death wasn’t very natural—might’ve been the work of the Raiders. Something about it feels off, but who knows. At least Remlin seems pretty powerful and incredibly resilient.

The fireworks scene was really beautiful. I love how the anime takes its time building its world and the cities within it.

Good ep

Riyo thighs :)

Delmon loud, but funny as. He a vibe fr.

Not Gob man, but he definitely let a legacy for the ppl of Canvas Town, even thru his barrier from bad individuals

Remlin is quite interesting to say the least, but we'll see what happens in the future.

9/10

I don't get it. Characters are weak. Storytelling is weak. This episode was lame as shit. Idk if it's just the source material lacking any real depth or if it's a terribly directed adaptation

Just feels like A happens then B happens then C happens and X is supposed to be cool but it's not and Y is supposed to be funny but it's not and Z is supposed to be exciting but it's not

Can this sh!tty anime have some more D.E.I pretty please, said no one ever with two brain cells. But here we are with Remlin ..... Per wiki fandom page: Gender (sex, there is no such thing as gender in my book). Unknown. LMAO. We can clearly see it's a girl.....

@Vindicater yes. Were we supposed to feel sad about Gob dying because the girl was crying? We didn't know either character. Trying to force something that isn't there is bad writing.

Woah, color me surprised. They made Riyou look attractive for once. Bravo.

Really enjoyed the worldbuilding surrounding this episode. Love the concept behind Canvas Town and though the transition from gloomy atmosphere to happy vibes felt a bit abrupt, I did like the message as well as the whole sequence at the end with Remlin honoring Gob's legacy.

A very good world-building episode. It was really cool to see things in this world. The Canvas town seemed like such a gloomy place for a little while, but I guess for good reasons as Gob died, but the little kid who inherited his pen wants to celebrate his life which was beautiful and it was at that moment that the place looked like the City of Freedom and Joy. It was a great episode.

@Old_School_Akira

Are you sure about that?

This manga/anime is clearly aimed at the modern western audience. This sh!t isn't even popular in Japan!

And yes this character is D.E.I, they are trying to portray someone as something that she clearly isn't, and they are clearly doing it without making too many waves, ergo a D.E.I hire/portrayal.

If not, why design the character that way? And put that info on her wiki fandom page? 'cause 1- they are pushing an agenda, 2- she's a D.E.I and 3-they are using that fact to push said agenda, and round and round we go.

And I'm sick and tired of this sh!t! Infecting/destroying anime, one day we'll wake up and find out that the anime industry is a complete and total toxic wasteland much like the modern western comic books & movie industries are.

Boys are boys, girls are girls, the end!

@Ethercruiser are you dumb? Popular anime like full metal alchemist and attack on titan are anime influenced by the west so I guess everything is DEI to you.

Bones really did great with this episode.

It never occurred to me that August was the mangaka's self insert, but it completely makes sense. If you don't know, I'm pretty sure that the mangakas of Gachiakuta bops to music like he does when drawing lol

This episode also sets up Riyo, who is shaping up to be a rather mysterious character. What exactly is her backstory?

Finally, that Remlin scene was beautiful. For one, I always imagined Remlin's voice to be squeaky and crazy, but this incredibly gender-ambiguous voice works just fine too. I love how the music people at Bones incorporated festival EDM for this scene; it really sells the hype and the sense of human connection. I'd imagine it especially hypes up all the latam Gachiakuta fans as well.

I feel like this episode was a great example of the idea of human connection, which is probably one of the core themes of Gachiakuta. Firstly, there's obviously Delmon's speech. Then, we see Gob's lasting impact on the Cleaners and everyone around him. Finally, Remlin brings the entirety of Canvas Town together to celebrate; Rudo's amazement at this makes sense, since he had no idea that human connection could be this impactful. So far in the anime, every moment of human connection felt genuine and emotional. Needless to say, I love how Bones handled this episode.

@Ethercruiser Yes, this woke thing is a pain and it's because it's original and doesn't let itself be limited by agendas that anime is so popular nowadays, but so far this non-binary thing seems like something just invented by militant manga "fans", so the work doesn't seem to want to force the viewer to swallow this agenda DEI.

I would SNIFF the bed after Riyo was all over it.

(too down bad?)

.

LOL @ the big guy... he sorta reminds me of someone else from another series (can't quite remember, think it's also a monk-type character)

.

And the new "Spellcaster", dude's got a great personality huh.

Dude goes dwell on the negatives and finds the positives and the way to move forward.

Instead of being sad about the dead, he make sit a memorial celebration. (reminds me of "Day of the Dead" we got in iRL)

I like this show, but it does feel kind of "What's up my fellow kids?" with all the 80s or 90s graffiti and aesthetic.

The world they live in is also impressively ugly though, and I would not want to have to live in decaying rooms and buildings like that, so it's a funny contrast to the "fellow kids" appeals 😬
