I tend to go for either, or characters who are a mixture of girly/boyish. Only thing I'm picky about is I prefer long hair.

Yeah, that's true. And I think there are a good number of people who claim Revy as their waifu. But none of the girls in Black Lagoon have feminine charm; they're crazy, moralless, killers. Like Jesus, why you'd want to have a woman like that as your waifu?

I like both, long hair or short hair, I like a different variety. for example in bleach, I like both Orihime and tatsuki. In Sailor Moon my favorite is Usagi but also like Makoto.

On a different note, the god of all tomboys is Utena Tenjou and she has long hair (at least in the series), meaning hair length is really not that great of an indicator when it comes to this stuff nahmsayn

Short hair > long hair
Pants > skirts
Assertive > shy

It's even better if they do some kind of sport like Kanbaru from Monogatari.

Wasn't expecting so many people to just straight up dislike tomboys. Like... I was kind of under the impression that tomboy types were popular? I'm a bi woman so my tastes aren't representative of straight men in the slightest but I could've sworn tomboys were a popular character type in otaku circles. I mean... why else would there always be a tomboy option in harems if not to appeal to a group of tomboy loving otaku?

I don't like tomboys aesthetically and behavior-wise since I don't like too masculine guys either.

Also most tomboys or more masculine women are these "I'm not like other girls!!1 and other girls are dumb!"-bitches.
One of the characters I hate the most for example is Arya from Game of Thrones. I really hate her attitude.

Sadly the more masculine women I met in real life put down other girls and women too and are very misogynist.

I love tomboys. Short hair is the best and the confidence they have in themselves to be who they want to be is very attractive. I'm watching Tanaka-kun now and Echizen may end up on my favorite characters by the end.
