| I've been having problems changing my profile pic since I joined. I upload a new one, and the very first pic I uploaded appears--quite strange. This is a tad annoying, and any help//suggestions would be appreciated. ;) (Er, could someone tell me what my current profile pic is--just to be certain everything is synced and I'm seeing what everyone else is?) |

| I uploaded a profile pic a few hours ago, and after a few minutes I could see it on my comments that I posted on others' profiles but couldn't see it on my profile. Now I have logged in again but this time I see the new profile pic on neither my comments nor on my profile. I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible. Edit: I uploaded a new forum avatar as well but it is not updated. |

| Profile pics are likely updating slowly, since the cron that updates profile info is crawling along again. Avatars and such should not be affected -- just the things listed here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=298417 Try to be patient and they will update on their own. If you've already waited several hours try viewing the image directly and refreshing or holding Ctrl and refreshing. Edit: they should be updating again as of a few days ago |

| There was some maintenance yesterday. Try again perhaps, and look carefully for error messages etc. Since you don't have a previous avatar, the new one should show almost immediately. |

| that's normal... it usually takes a few hours since it has to update on the separate CDN servers... slow updates are the tradeoff for speedy downloads. Wait a while then try loading the image directly and refresh, or hold Ctrl key and then refresh, since it is cached on your own computer as well. |

| Greetings mods and admins, I come here to humbly present to you my case. I have uploaded a new avatar with a corresponding "Success! Your new avy will be... in 5 minutes" three times... 1st: was around 7:45 PM (Hong Kong, Metro Manila time) yesterday. 2nd: around 2:40 AM today 3rd: around 4 AM today result: I still have the same avatar. What is wrong with my account or something within the board? |
| They take a while to change. For me they take many days, about 4. So it is not just your account that is the way it is. I learned recently that your internet browser stores a copy of your avatar for up to an hour. You just have to wait. That is the best advice I can give you. Chances are other people will be able to see it before you. |

| *threads merged* I've seen quite a few reports recently about avatars not updating. I'm not sure if there's a situation there but there was some maintenance done recently and it wouldn't surprise me if something changed there. I'll try to investigate. |

| The only thing that makes my profile picture change right away is to upload it normally, then it still doesn't change, then I move the picture in another folder, because if I keep my new and old picture in the same folder, it will never change. Moving folders does a wonder with my profile picture. This working for anyone else, or just me? |

| Bah. I've been waiting for two days for my profile pic to update, but still nothing. Even longer than before I think. One thing to note: For some reason, when I view my profile on my BlackBerry, I can see my new profile picture. In fact, most of the stuff that usually takes forever to update on the computer appears within an hour on my phone. Maybe that will shed a light on this problem? |

I've realised where is the trouble right after your post. The issue is, MAL engine assigns same url for your avatars. They are just replacing one image with another without changing address. So in order to see new avatar you should just clear your web-browser cache. |

| It's my understanding that the process that updates profile statistics (along with profile picture and mal signatures among other things) has had some efficiency issues that have prevented it from working properly, so it keeps getting disabled. It should only affect profile pictures with regard to this thread.... but I do know they are working on it. I'm not sure what the deal with avatars is... they might oscillate back and forth but they should not do so for quite this long. I guess patience is the only method -- it should eventually show the most recently updated avatar. As in the past, try opening the image alone in your browser and pressing Ctrl+F5.... or simply clearing temporary internet files (just files not cookies) to make sure you are looking at the most recent copy. Sometimes your browser will cache them longer than intended, even if they have updated on the cdn servers. |

| Okay, to start with I am sorry. I feel like I always have really weird problems that are similar to other problems. Here is my story. I changed my profile picture on Monday to an Allen Walker one to go with my profile. The profile picture changed. Hooray. But...every night for me for a few hours I can still see the old Kobato one. Why does it do that? Clearly it gets the picture right for 80% of the day, what makes this one time period different? |

| OK, so I removed my current picture and uploaded a different one. But for some reason, it doesn't show any signs of my adjustments being made. Understandably you're notified after changing your picture that it could take up to 30 minutes, but I've been waiting for hours! It also says something about the resolution of the pic having to fall within a certain range (225 x 350 maximum if I recall correctly). The picture I intend to use is 200 x 200. I tried using a picture that exceeds the limit (1094 x 1094) too, but no luck... By the way, I am trying to change my picture from Agito (a character from Air Gear) to an album cover from one of my favourite bands (Iron Maiden). It's frustrating that what should be a relatively easy task has caused so many problems... |

| I merged the above thread regarding profile pictures, though the issue in this thread is slightly different. Profile pictures should be updating normally (that is to say within a few hours) at the moment. Avatars are not effected by the above linked issue.... only profile pictures and list backgrounds, and the other items mentioned there. |

| glad i'm not the only one with profile-picture issues. the forum avatar works perfectly, but the profile one is lagging bigtime. you all have more patience than i. it's only been a day and i was getting squirrely about whether or not it was just me or if i was doing something wrong. |

| It says "successfully uploaded" but then it switches back to my old one. Even when I've removed the old one. I've given it 30 minutes-1 day to change, and no luck. It does this all the time. |
