I imagine it's some sort of convergence and the choice is essentially: "Save the world" (at the cost of the other world)
Or "Save the people" at the cost of your world, I imagine the entire planet would be destroyed but it's possible to essentially move all the people to the other world...
I haven't watched season 2 yet though so I wouldn't actually know but that's what it seems like.
But instead of talking it over and thinking about it and trying to find a different solution the other world's heroes currently seem hellbent on killing the 4 heroes and they are convinced that's the only solution. Though I reckon there is a semi peaceful solution though it would still require the sacrifice of a world. That said, like the queen bird said "previous heroes wished they'd chosen to save the people and not the world" So I reckon the challenge is going to be 1. waiting for naofumi to figure that out.
2. convincing the heroes from the other world or defeating them without killing them
3. actually moving all people from one world to the other

The end of the first season - I hoped they adapted more from the source, as an adaptation not so well, as an Anime - pretty good

An okay ending. I feel the true ending of the season should have had been a few episodes back. But overall, I did enjoy this anime.

Finally finished season 1 and I'm pretty in the middle. This show started perfectly making you immediately love naofumi and want everyone else to PAY. So you get like 20 episodes in and the king and princess are about to be decapitated and naofumi saved them? The king I understand but he should've decapitated that bitch ass princess himself. Overall the anime started off great and became more and more generic throughout the episodes. The last like 3 episodes were anticlimactic, to be honest I think the anime should've ended like 3 episodes early. Overall it was still an entertaining watch and because of that I'll give it a 7/10. Not excited for season 2 because of what everyone says about it but maybe I'll feel differently.

fantastic display of "zero to hero" redemption arc. I found myself sympathizing with the MC through all his emotions. Through all the hate, the love, the friendships, the growth, I couldn't help but be tense in every moment. I was pleasantly surprised at how close I grew with the companions as well. I was scared they were going to make them part of a stereotypical harem, but i enjoyed the stories they all had and the growth they made throughout their journey. I would gladly re-watch the series if I had to, but the beginning where the shield hero loses everything would be a hard re-watch, so gut wrenchingly well done.
