I was so excited for Ahu's episode and, man, the waiting was worth it.

The choice of turning a dog into a hero seemed very interesting to me from the first time I saw the opening. But, understanding how this world works, I think it was brilliant, especially because his powers are so unconventional and not related at all to what we've already seen in other media. But, even when compared to the previews, the episode showed an even more sophisticated idea of Ahu's powers.

The plot and the comic art style were very charming. Although I'd seen the previews, I got really worried about Xin Ya, but Ahu getting his first trust point was peak.

Overall, it was the most emotionally touching episode. Seeing that grumpy old dog having a flashback with his baby rapt eyes glowing from X's beautiful power, with that background song, was absolutely lovely to see.

Also, it's funny that Ahu becoming a hero was the 13th reason why Nice did what he did. From all characters, Nice has the most interesting and well sculpted plot, very human and tragic, especially when we already know his end.

Yet, there are so many questions I think many will be left to be answered on the next season. It has been a reeeeeally good ride.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING, ngl I started of this episode disappointed that it didn't continue on right where we left off and thought this sidestory was gonna be a drag but I was so wrong, this is probably in my top 3 eps of the show now, the tie in with the 2 YEAR OLD youtube trailer, the emotional moment when the kid almost sacrificed herself for the dog 😢 and then to top it off ENDING WITH NICE ABOUT TO UNALIVE HIMSELF, I was skeptical of how they were going tie such convoluted AND confusing storylines together but they did it in such an incredible, satisfying way. Well have to see how next episode goes but this might end up a 10/10

This doesn't make any sence at all. X have seen how much Nice admire Smile so he tried to help him. I think X wanted Nice to do some heroic stuff by saving Lin Ling from commiting sucide so that his rank goes up before the tournament but things didn't go as planned.

Moreover X didn't even kill Dragon boy so why would he kill Nice.
@ZXEAN as I said to free him because he had already hit rock bottom (in addition to being corrupted by fear), it's different from Dragon boy who assumes himself as a villain and if he really wanted to teleport him to save Lin he wouldn't have lost his memory. At the moment when Nice jumps into the void we see the white birds accompanying him and we know that these birds are linked to X thanks to the opening and ending credits

We have come full circle now. Next episode will either be in the present or shortly before that to address moon's apparent assassination and/or X's backstory before moving towards the future with the start of the hero tournament.

This was a banger. I was actually tearing up a bit at the climax because the girl really could have died there if the director wanted them too. We've seen enough sad endings to know that it can happen by this point.

I don't know why people think X set up/forced Nice to kill himself just because we had the snap sound in the background. His mental state has pretty clearly fallen of a cliff (pun intended) given Smile's death and Ahu overtaking him in the hero rankings. We also just saw X save Nice in the last episode from getting killed, so turning around to kill him so soon right after doesn't make sense imo. I think the snap was just to show a fast forwarding of time and change in the animation style.

Looking forward to the last episode to set up season 2. This has been an amazing series to watch.

This end of the episode was incredible, Nice fell to rock bottom and X snapped his fingers and forced Nice to commit suicide to free himself? You can clearly see in this scene that he is the one pushing Nice towards this place with the sound of the finger snapping and the change to 3D, so did he also erase Nice's memories?

There is one episode left. I remember that in the opening credits when we introduce the old X heroes, we have a woman and a man dressed as cowboys, but I never saw them in the episodes.
@ROVI65 The cowboy heroes were addressed previously but have never been shown from what I recall.

Mr. Matchstick and Ms. Blazing Fire become X pair in 26 AC, which is stated in Episode 8 (they're said to be the last season X pair). Depending on when their scandal happens, they're either 1 or 2-times (28 AC) X pair.

Want to give credit where credit is due to this GOAT creating a timeline of events for everyone to use.

So they were former Xs just like all the others we have seen, but were only briefly mentioned in the series thus far.

@ZXEAN I invite you to take a better look at the work rather than judging lol well after you still dared to say that he transported Nice so that he could save Lin Ling and gain confidence and thus become a hero again 😭😭 and it seems that you don't even bother to read it properly I added that he was corrupted by fear or you didn't watch the episode 🤣

best episode yet, it managed to draw me in moreso than any other with Shinya and the uncertainty of her fate up until Ahu saved her. another thing that was quite enjoyable was the tie in to the X music video done about 1-2 years ago for the song "New Type of Hero"

Ironically, when this show first started coming out, I told myself that even if I didn’t like it, I’d still have to make it to the end for one specific reason, I just had to see Ahu in all his glory... even if it ended up being the literal penultimate episode where he got his time to shine. And oh boy, was the wait worth it. Right off the bat, a completely different art style, neither the 2D we’re used to nor the 3D, but a full-on style change that gives off major TRIGGER vibes.

Main girl literally looks like Ryuuko lol. It’s a nice change of pace compared to the breakneck action intensity of the everyday heroes we’re used to seeing. Here, it’s just your above-average girl... apparently, because damn she was dodging those goons, with your also above average dog that just happened to butt into the middle of Nice’s mission. And speaking of Nice, would it really be complete without our dude X making an appearance and doing his X thing...

... BECUASE JESUS CHRIST, MY GUY HAS UPPED HIS AURA BY A THOUSAND IN THE SPAN OF TWO EPISODES, IT’S CRAZY.
LIKE WHAT EVEN THIS LMAOOOOOO

And ofc, the aforementioned Nice, this is it. That’s right, the thing that led to what we saw all the way back in episode one with him... you can blame it all on a dog. You know, knowing everything now, I don’t blame him for what he did in episode one (or, well, in due time at least, judging by how the episode ended lol). Crazy shit, and it's really all over next episode. All that's left is to finally figure out the question we've been wondering these past 23 weeks...

Christopher Sabat in another peak show is so awesome to see again!! If you don't know, he's my favorite voice actor in anime!! Seeing him voicing a dog of all things is the funniest thing I've seen him do. I love how we now know why Nice killed himself. Though I do love this series, I wish they used both animation styles the equally. I love both styles, but it's unfair we don't see much of the 3D animation, but other than that this is anime of the year!! I'm going to be sad to see season 1 end, but at least we're getting a season 2.

The penultimate episode is a superhero origin story of Ahu the Dawg. Plot goes as generic pet movie: dog works in circus until he bites the kid, gets almost euthanized but saved by 1 little girl who spends her last money to buy him. Then they try to become famous, get in trouble with local gangsters and steal property docs from the mysterious corporate ghoul("Tohsaka Rin's dad's" company) who want take over their land. Since Nice was in charge, being outranked by Dog pushed him closer to the edge.
Could've been a cliche story, but execution made it special. This episode has its own visual style and good enough direction to make you care about another hero in 20 minutes. Ending bring us back to the beginning of the show. Very excited to see how the final X episode wraps up the first season and builds up to upcoming hero tourney.

Banger episode.

I've been an Ahu believer from day one; he really is the dog. Xinya was also such a special kid; it's kind of hard not to like her. I wonder if Xinya will interact with the other heroes, or if only Ahu will get screentime going forward.

....a talking dog with a hat? is this Disney?
The wacky art style of this episode is a bit much for me, deviated too far from the original pretty art style
All seriousness that the show had goes out the window when a dog can talk, even more knowing that the reason Nice ended up killing himself was because a talking dog outranked him and his boss shamed him for it

"you are lower than a dog"? then what even is he if he is not any kind of hero? would he also say that to all the other heroes that got outranked by a dog?
This talk is ridiculous from what is supposed to be a very logical calculative cruel man that uses Nice as an asset, he should be the first one knowing another hero surpassing him doesn't prevent Nice from achieving top 10, the next day Nice could do something incredible that earns him top 10 status, the dog being there doesn't change a thing for him

This dog should have never happened, the reason Nice ends up doing what he does should have been because of Smile's death, not a random dog, feels like they came out of ideas and time to develop the whole "why Nice did it" and said "yeah, whatever, the dog was the final straw"

Dogshit tier episode for an otherwise amazing show so far, hope the dog never shows up again, especially in the tournament

@IronH3avenZ You got a Guy that can change animation styles on whim and turn ppl into paper balls, Alien creatures that can transform into a giant anubis, goo that drives people insane, but you draw the line with a Dog that can talk huh.

There was a nice jazzy music at one point which immediately reminded me of cowboy bebop and the corgi chase scene, very similar music style in these soundtracks.

I'm curious about the finale and I hope it delivers as this show is finishing strong and potentially a 10/10 and aoty contender, everything is coming together quite nicely plot wise and the production quality is still insane

I wonder if it was intentional to make the animation more cartoonish because we were suddenly watching dog's pov. And I'm glad for that style because I do not handle well hurt animals, so the less realistic they look, the better...
Ahu got only one episode I presume, but it felt as if it did its job and told his story. This is what was missing from Dragon Boy, where the focus was on the fight and some bits of the past. I wish we had more of where he came from... He looks so cool so it's a shame his character was handled the worst (to me! Even if Queen's arc felt as if it wasted some potential, it suddenly looks way better when next to Dragon Boy)
We technically don't have X's arc either - he just started slowly showing up in the story. Will the last episode be dedicated to him?

Amazing ep

The mini journey of Ahu going from a clown to a hero was simply beautiful. Only one ep, yet it hit SO well.

I love how Xin Ya always believed in him.

X's aura is simply unmatched and when Nice appeared, I had forgotten how much of a "clown" or pawn that he was to Shang.

Wow, now the fear is on him and Nice has forgotten who he truly is, as most of us can tell.

We really back yall, year 41 and now in 3d with Ling Ling again.

I wonder if him forgetting who he was destroyed his trust value and that he willingly emoted and killed himself in the process.

10/10

Let's Goo

Oh boy, I thought I don't have a fav hero, just one episode Ahu and his owner Xin Ya which is my fav female Va voicing her (kugimiya Rie) grew on me, Johnny should learn a thing or two from her.
You are now even lower than a dog
is hilarious, i got a good chuckle this episode. Ahu got speaking ability after that is super cool, from being euthanasia he become top 8 hero. X also appear and make this all possible like nothing to be fazed about. It got some serious action and everything just fitted well. As pet lover this is a adorable and exciting ,perfectly balance episode. Ahu deserve all treat like a good dog he is.

The ending makes me wonder if Nice is actually dead or not.
