I originally started rating part way through but i stopped doing that so much because i got concerned it would bias my final verdict and it already is bad enough MALs score influences me even if i dont want it to. I sometimes do it for longer series though.

I am rating about 4 episodes, if it continues to get better or worse, I change the rating, but usually the rating I give after 4 episodes is the final one.

During, but I spend some time after finishing for a final evaluation.

Typically it takes 3 episodes before I've formed enough of an opinion to give something a score. It's still a "working score" subject to change, though.

Occasionally shows like Apothecary and Frieren show up and even after one episode if I already really like the cast, art, OST, etc. it'll get an 8 from the get-go. It's usually pretty easy to tell when something is going to be better than the vast sea of 6's and 7's. Such shows can still earn a 9 before the end (Apothecary has already; Freiren is still an 8 as of posting).

It's nice to have some kind of working score assigned to the shows in my Watching so that if I'm feeling especially bored I'll head straight to a seven or eight. Speeds up the "what should I watch tonight?" decision.

As part of the final score evaluation I'll compare it to certain Completed shows in my list with the same score and see if the "new guy" belongs in the same group (reality check). I have a mental list of these "yardstick" shows many of which I've re-watched and so the score for these is quite solid.

I only rate at the very end, but I’ll rate a dropped show if I at least watched past the mid-way point

Most of them when I have seen a good amount of episodes to form an opinion on it. This is usually around half of the episodes and if finish a series and I no longer feel like it deserves the rating I gave it then I will change it.

Ofc I will rate a show after I've finished it. Rating it while watching it doesn't make any sense.

I like to rate while doing it, usually i settle in at 3 or 6 episodes depending on the length. I mostly did it because Im urgent to get opinion off the throat

I only rate shows after I finish them . A lot of shows have a strong start but a weak second half and vice versa also some shows can have a slow start or take some time to set up things so you can't judge every anime after watching only 3 or 4 episodes

I rate watching shows, because the rating represents what I'm thinking of it up to the point that I have seen. even if the rating is unfair, it's fine because it will eventually become fair once I finish it.

It's just there for me and others who look at my profile, to know what I'm thinking of the shows so far.

Which is why I always score my watching shows, but rarely my on hold and never my dropped shows.

Only after I've completed it. That's the only ratings that matter.

I usually don't update the scores while watching an anime, but I keep a mental note of "how I'd rate the season so far" after each episode.

I honestly prefer to rate something when I finish the program. Especially because I feel that at the end of the day, the full experience can only be achieved that way. Until you get to that point everything can get worse, get better, or stay solid or sluggish. Plus, it's just too annoying to rate with each completed episode. Likewise, it's also reasonable to rate a show before completing it, most people don't need to finish a bottle of "X soda" to check if they like it or not, one sip is enough to verify and evaluate it.

I rate it whenever I take a pause from it, it could be after the first episode, after two or at the end of it if I binge watch. So in the end I just adjust the previous rating as my opinion does change progressing the story. I usually give a high score at the beginning and then lower it towards the end but it could be the opposite even if rarely happens.

I rate it after I finish the show. Usually I've got an idea of what my rating will be as I watch an anime, but I want to give it the chance to change my mind with the final episodes, so I leave that space open.

For seasonals, I give a temporary rating around the 8th or 9th episode, and a definitive one when finished.
For other series I wait until I completed it entirely.

Probably alter the rating several times during a seasonal anime watch, then give a final score at the end. Stuff that already aired fully I binge watch, depending on the length I do the same method like with seasonal stuff, or just rate it at the end.
