Man. What about this justified a theatrical release? Why were these movies (all 3) not just combined into a second season? I know we're getting a second season, but in an ideal world it would actually be season 3 and this would be a largely fine, albeit not very exciting, part of a larger whole.

Kaede's story was the one issue I had with the original Bunny Girl Senpai, and this really tied everything up and put a beautiful bow on top
Right in the feels.

Honestly, it's a good anime movie. WTF did people hate about this movie? No mystery? You mean solving mysteries using nonsensical quantum mechanics that Futaba just explained?? No, the main point of this series is how each character solves the problems that exist in him/her-self. So, the movie still maintains the quality of the prequel. I like the movie :)

Não da nem pra comparar com o anime e primeiro filme. Apenas o dia a dia da Kaede tentando passar na prova da escola, um drama bem leve, filme esquecível.

It's a good film but the problem is that the series and the previous film were much better than this one so it definitely felt a little bit disappointing if we compare it to what came before it but just like I said it's still a good film on its own.

It was a good movie showing some good character development for Kaede, While it didn't blow my socks off like the last movie did, it does not bring down the series at all, simply a good movie doing good things for the story, this also made me really like Kaede, so I was happy about watching it and never found it tiring to listen to them talk about school. I would say that Mai seems kind of distant from Sakuta, and wasnt in the movie much, but I'm assuming the next movie has a lot more to do with Mai compared to this one. 7/10

I don't get why the movie has such a low score compared with the rest of the franchise.
Yes, the previous movie is leagues ahead, but S1 was more inconsistent and although Mai arc was superb (to the point that I genuinely believed chapter 3 was the end of the season) and cemented my love for the show, other arcs were weaker.

This movie has no mistery, yeah, but it's heavier in characters and writting and it shows. It also ends nicely the Kaede arc that started in S2, continued (albeit as background) in the first movie and now reaches a good conclusion with Kaede actually growing and this being the first conflict actually solved by maturing and becoming your own self instead of melodramatic resolutions like Tomoe's and Nodoka's arcs that changed nothing in regards of the characters.

Guess the problem is not enoguh MaiXSakuta moments, which is obviously the bread and butter of the show.

A fine movie with Kaede-chan. It was fine, but not as good as the prequel. Also, I am glad she did not go to the same school as her onii-chan. That would make the movie quite anticlimacticf.

It's a decent continuation of the series with focus on Kaede. Only suffers in that it's coming after the heavy drama that came from Dreaming Girl and the story here is pretty mundane in comparison to earlier story arcs in the series.

I think was actually my favourite arc so far. Just a simple, down to earth drama about Kaede struggling with anxiety. Also the pacing probably helped a lot. This was probably the most time any single novel has been given with a single movie for one book. I guess the 3 episode arcs in season 1 had a similar amount of runtime but still.

Thank God it wasn't that "goofy" as previous movie, it has some flaws but i'm ready to close my eyes on it, basically it's a little bit greater than average, a lotsa moments annoyed me throughout the movie, but alr, way better when Mai is main or second characterπŸ™πŸ™
As i said, this > Yumemiru Shoujo

Just a simple story, she wants to enter the high school where her brother in but she feels anxious and stressful asf, the dread itself idk, i wouldn't say that it was entertaining, the whole genre / university doesn't attract me, it's not bad but it's not that good, to count that as "bad" i cannot but at the same time i cannot deem this as "fine" or even better, A V E R A G E

P.S me and my homies indahood listening that banger at the endπŸ—£οΈπŸ—£οΈπŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Probably the weakest story of the series. It just wasn't that interesting overall and kind of feels drawn out. There isn't really a moment you can point to in the movie where you can really say that was notable. I think it was just the fault of the source material and the team did the best they could, but it definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

Actually liked this better than the previous one. While the Sakuta-Mai moments may not be as strong, though they certainly were cute, I think they handled the main "subject" of the movie, i.e., Kaede way better and in a more nuanced manner than they did Shoko.

This was a good continuation of the previous movie, unlike the last one which was heavily dramatic, this one feels quite underwhelming compared to that but nonetheless it was a good movie. Kaede finally choosing a proper road that she'll continue her journey on is a great development for her but it also makes me sad for our kawai panda imouto who we probably never gonna see again (T-T). Small mai-san is cute and the next movie is about it which makes me hype. 8/10

Just because Kaede gained her memories back, that doesn't mean all of her problems have been resolved! The rascal does not dream cast is excellent, so getting more of them in a film was fun. Kaede and Sakuta closing the distance between one another and resolving their unstated worries was also pleasing to see. The story stepping away from the supernatural for a bit and further showcasing underexplored topics like the reality of psychosomatic symptoms and being open-minded towards people's needs was a choice that I very much respect.

I had a nice time watching this movie!

Watching any content related to this series after a while, and though I wasn't really expecting them to go over the already covered stuff, since this a movie and all, but in the end, I do feel recapping things a bit might've helped. Just a small gripe btw, I mean not like it hindered the overall experience of watching this movie.

Coming to this one, I'd say I thought we'll see yet another case of puberty syndrome, but no, this was just about Kaede and her internal struggles. I remember we've covered a decent bit about her in the main series, and although I don't dislike her or anything, but a full movie over her was going a bit overboard. I remember really liking the last movie so yeah, I think I went with the same expectations. Good to her though, she still decided to go with the remote school even though she got selected somehow. I mean if she would've changed her decision there, then yeah, all of this might not have made much sense.

Hoping the next one will be better. It's around Mai as well, so yeah, all the more reasons.

Btw, I still really love that outro. It's back from the first season but still hits the same. Hope they'll continue using it as long as they can:)

One of my first animes was Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, it broke me quite a bit 4 years ago especially after the Kaede arc. This 60 minute film is the backlash of that arc and just reminded you of a time when life was simpler and just as depressing.

Taking characters form the show and reminding you that they exist for future projects due to how long it has been since the show and last movie, Sister Venturing Out sets up the next film, Knapsack Kid quite well, hinting at it in the beginning and then having an Avengers level end credit scene, really makes me excited to watch it and scared for my mental state.

Whilst this does feel a little like a drawn out version of the episodic format compared to the last movie, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they managed to remind me how much I love this series. Ultimately this is worse than both the series and the last film but I think it is as good as they could have done for those who are big fans of them. Hoping the next film doesn't drain me psychologically.

This Little Sister Movie was a weak movie. But it was an alright movie, dont get me wrong.

Here is where the Anime/Novel messed up = This "Real Kaede" arc should have come out RIGHT AFTER the "Fake Kaede" arc in the anime, since it would have made it more impactful and meaningful for the audience, instead of going from Fake-Kaede, to the first-movie (epic), and then to this "Real Kaede Sister" arc

And while this "original" Kaede might be less "memorable" than Panda-Kaede, this original Kaede is still a cutie in her own way

I did enjoy many of the scenes of Sakuta-Mai, Sakuta-Kaede, Mai-Kaede, Sakuta-Mai-Kaede

And rewatching this movie, they did somewhat make a reference to Touko Kirishima when Mai and Sakita were watching a music video (a character that will be more mentioned in the next movie-3 and the Santa-University season)

And Uzuki sure is a breath of fresh air, with her "not being able to read the room/mood" situation

And the blonde sassy girl is always fun in her own way

And Mai has graduated, happy for her after she was almost forgotten completely.

Off to movie-3 then, which I assume will conclude the franchise with the movie being about the male MC and Kaede finally becoming a family with their parents once again, now that A-Syndrome is basically over for them and their loved ones, and also seeing what Loli-Mai is about.

Really loved the message of not beating yourself up because you feel like you're not as capable as others at something. It resonated with me personally. It's so important to find things in life, like school, work, friends and lovers, that fit you instead of changing yourself to fit them. And it's important to know that what works best for you is valid even if most people tend to do things a different way. I'm happy for Kaede that she has such wonderful supportive people in her life that allowed her to find the schooling option that's best for her. It's tough living with trauma and social phobias, but it's still possible to live a happy life in your own way.

You know what, I thought this was better than the previous movie, the amount of folks putting this one down because of no adolescence/puberty syndrome case is kinda crazy lol, I feel like they didn’t really pay attention to what this movie was about. This was a huge deal for the current/old Kaede, a big turning point in her character, this was something that was absolutely needed, not simply a bridge in the gap between this and the Knapsack Kid movie.

I really liked how this was by far the most down to earth story so far, you really didn’t even need Kaede’s bruises to reappear, yeah it added to the drama but I think this all could have went down without them, this was simply about Kaede overcoming her past trauma and her past self. When you think about it, some big things Kaede has now are because of her panda loving self that was here while she was gone, like the effort she put into going back to school, and her connections to Mai and Nodoka, so it’s no wonder she felt tied down by that, and honestly it felt like she was even talking to the audience when she told Sakuta that he likes the old Kaede more than the new one lol, I think that’s definitely the case for a lot of viewers, I might even be guilty of it. But that’s another reason I think this movie is so important, it really adds a lot to the Kaede we know now, she’s not simply the original Kaede that returned, she has her own struggles and worries, and managed to overcome them with the help of everyone around her, I especially liked Uzuki’s involvement, I didn’t think the idol that doesn’t wear panties would eventually be so relevant lol, her part of the movie was one of the best parts imo.

And along with Kaede’s situation was some great SoL stuff with her and the other characters, it really helped this movie feel more chill overall compared to the others, even if it got pretty dramatic after Kaede got sick. Sakuta and Mai had some great bits, the scene where Kaede walked in on them was probably my favorite lol, although it is sad Mai is graduating now, that means no more moments at the school with her, but no one stays in school forever, hopefully the story eventually takes us into their college life together, also Sakuta had some hilarious lines that felt more in tune with the original TV show compared to Dreaming Girl. So yeah I’d say this movie is up there with the best arcs of the show, adolescence syndrome or not, I really enjoyed this one, I think they even stepped up the art and animation in this one too, it makes sense considering there was a much bigger gap between entries, going from 2019 to 2023. And of course they also teased the Knapsack Kid movie in this one with those scenes at the beginning and the end of the movie, my interest has definitely been piqued but I hope this plot can give me less problems than Dreaming Girl did lol, but yeah I’m looking forward to it.

And with that, Sister Venturing Out is done, meaning I just have one movie left now before the new season, it felt like a lot but it’s already almost over, it’s been a fun journey up to this point.

Just over 2 years late to watching this, but with the new season airing now, what better time to watch it.

Overall, I thought it was pretty good. It was great to see the conclusion of Kaede's arc, which carried over from the 1st season where Kaede becomes her old self again - subsequently erasing the Kaede we got to know during the 1st season. Glad to see her become more comfortable being outside around others and choosing her own high school for herself.

Man, I didn't know Minegahara was that hard to get in. How did Sakuta do then? Lol.

Anyways, beautiful movie overall. Not as "intense" as the previous Dreaming Girl movie (thank god) but still highly engaging from beginning to end. I always loved Kaede (both old and current one) so having another arc dedicated to her is more than welcome in my book.
Not much supernatural stuff happening this time around but seeing Kaede still suffering from her extreme social anxiety while also trying to come to terms with the image "Panda" Kaede left felt just as painful as it did during her respective arc back in S1. This said, I'm beyond glad to see everything led to a heartwarming conclusion with our favorite imouto growing as a character and learning some very good lessons at the end of the day.
And what a nice message the movie left at the end: "Take things at your own pace" + "It's okay to follow an alternative path if you feel like you can't keep up with the standards imposed by others". Very good stuff, honestly.

7,5/10 -> 8/10

With Season 2 (a la Santa Claus already out now), I should've gandered at the movies earlier than scheduled, but what a better time to do it now with the continuation with Santa Claus.

The 2nd movie of 3, and while Sister Venturing Out is fine and all, it just feels like this could've been segregated into the anime series, but given how that Dreaming Girl was like the apex of the Seishun Buta Yarou series up to this point, it just feels like one step forward, two steps back.

Nonetheless, it's great to see Sakuta and the cast again, but that this movie especially focusing on Kaede's much-needed development of her own Puberty Syndrome of an extreme social anxiety having to step one foot out of the house without any serious issue, this "short movie" gets the job done adapting Volume 8 of the LN in a simplified way to see how far Sakuta's lil' sister has come to acknowledge that she NEEDS to step out of her comfort zone. It's pain knowing that Sakuta has his hands full with legitimately taking care of Kaede alongside Mai and her half-sister Nodoka Tokoyama, with Sweet Bullet's lead singer Uzuki Hirokawa being very similar to how Kaede would want to plant her future forward.

In tne end, Kaede learns the most single-handedly poignant message ever: to do things that she wants to do best without having to rely on others, and the venture to enroll herself in Sakuta's school, swapped out at the very last minute once she finds her true self.

Very good stuff here that closes Kaede's chapter. Onto Knapsack Kid next!

It isn't as thrilling as the previous movie but since it's about Kaede, I still enjoyed it a lot. There's no supernatural event this time, we just follow through the life of Kaede not long after she regained her memories. It's like watching a comfy slice of life. It's a simple story about being yourself and choosing your path accordingly.

Made the mistake of starting the second season without watching this and the next movie so a few things make more sense now, specifically Zukki's importance.

Aside from that I really liked how fleshed out Kaede's character is now, I felt like the first season and previous movie skimmed over how her current self was dealing with everything that happened to her and this movie gave me everything I wanted from that.

This was quite an enjoyable movie not gonna lie. Was going into hoping for meh or 5.5 or 6/10 movie but it turned out to be actual 7.5/movie imo. I loved Sakuta anger when he couldn't fight back to her sister because he did felt that he preferred old Kaede to the current one. Then to come to conclusion that he love both Kaede as one. Beauiful..

Not as good as the first one, I feel like a lot people said that. But I personally love the character development Kaede has in this film. She always knew about her other self and she feel bad that she became a replacement. The way she understood that her current self only exist because of her past, which made her accept herself. if there was one thing which left me a bit disappointed on Sakuta, was his trying to act for normalcy with a sunken face after Kaede recovered her momories in the first seson. There's no way Kaede wouldn't have noticed ,which was what i thought. ....Well she surely didn't .No communication had only created another downward spiral. The movie did a great job dealing and overcoming the problem .Glad she chose a school to her liking than living for her other forgotten half
