Because they are a shit studio (as of late). Look at what they did to Attack on Titan and Chainsaw man. Both look like shit. Not everyone who hates something popular is a contrarian. Sometimes normies just have bad taste and no discerning eye for quality animation. Stop defending mediocrity. It will only lead to more shit anime (and more overworked animators).

I guess I have to mention this: this is my opinion.

People who answer because it's trendy aren't being honest here. There's always more to it that that. Contrary to popular belief, the way MAPPA ALLEGEDLY treat their workers isn't a company problem, it's just how things are in Japan. I wouldn't hate MAPPA for that. I will however express my distaste for their animation style.

Take for example the currently airing CSM. The animation sure has a lot of frame, too many in fact that it doesn't look good. Compare CSM animation to a same airing show like Bocchi the Rock. Bocchi the Rock doesn't have the smoothest animation, but it feels more natural than CSM. Kakegurui and Kakegurui twin don't have this issue, must be a staff problem.

It's no secret AoT final season part 2 (yes there will be part 3) has awful pacing. Why should an entire episode be dedicated for talking and talking and explaining and yapping about 'crucial plot explanation' when it could've taken like what, an episode at most. It seems they are deliberately slowing down everything for AoT so that it can have an explosive ending (to make more money).

The thing about Attack on Titan pacing is that is doesn't have do anything with Mappa at all. I read the manga for AoT from chapter 1 to the end and in final season part 2, there's no way they gonna fit all those chapters in 12 eps. I think it's mostly marketing crap. Naming it something like season 4 will be better but entire pacing thing has nothing do with animation studio. (What do you want them to do? Skip all these chapters?) It does have pacing issues (probably), but not because of Mappa did it.

Still, I assume they have the creative decision to make it work. No, I don't want them to skip all those chapters and go straight to climax. I don't want that, nobody does. It was boring watching Zeke talks with Eren for 4-5 episodes back to back. MAPPA could've, I don't know, cut the part where they just stare at each other or staying quiet? That might cut the runtime 5 second shorter.

I'm not a MAPPA employee and I'm far from making something better. But this is one of the complaints I have against MAPPA as a consumer of their product.

Funnily enough, I feel like those 5 episodes where they just talk back to back is better than climax itself. I get your point. Entire talking thing can get pretty boring and especially when they just stare at each other for 12 seconds. Maybe it's because it help built tension and suspense to "Attack Titan" reveal? I don't think it's bad but that doesn't mean you can't think it's bad.

Distaste in animation style make sense. The reason why I like CSM adaption is because I like constant shift in animation style. That can be a bad thing for other people because well, it doesn't have consistency. Also Smooth Animation =/= Good Animation. I agree with your point.

Cause there must be an evil villain that I can blame all the industry’s problems on, right!? Otherwise I… I might have to come to turn with the fact that my beloved god trigger may also have severe issues and th-that the anime industry as a whole has horrendous institutionalised issues in regards to how workers are treated.
