| When I see someone using MID to describe an anime or anything for that matter. I think to myself, so it's average, or only half worth the time you put in to it. And to tell you the truth, that's fine by me, it ain't no criticism in my eyes. MID is basically like a glass that's either half full or half empty. If for all the people using the word it's half empty, then for me it'll be half full, that's the bottom line. |

| I think you're mixing up memeing with criticizing. Not even that twitter poster would probably think he was 'criticizing' these shows. He was memeing. Nobody should care. It's neither particularly funny nor particularly annoying, at least so far. But, like any bad meme, if everyone and their granddad start using it for everything all the time, it could definitely become annoying. Luckily that doesn't seem to be the case yet, I only really see people on MAL bring it up frequently. |

| I dunno if MAL is older and wiser than other platforms... Here, "mid" lasted 6 months max. The general consensus seems to be that using it unironically is a good way to signal that you're not worth reading. |
