| I think zero was a little to stretched out and the pacing wasn't great but it was still an 8/10 and u need to watch it for s1 to make sense, so it was good but s1 was a tiny bit better |

| I think it's just as good. I watched the entire series back to back, so I experienced the full ride, and I had no complaints. |

| Since the majority of you is praising this anime, here's the unpopular opinion. Steins;Gate 0 is pretty shitty, this piece of crap doesn't even come close to Steins;Gate which is an amazing anime. Steins;Gate 0 is just a shitty side material to please the fans in my eyes and don't get me started with that shitty action scenes and Kagari. |

| I think Steins;Gate 0 made me like Steins;Gate more. When I first watched Steins;Gate I liked the entire anime until the very end. I thought it was stupid that Okabe went through all this stuff to get to Steins Gate and we get to see it and the reasoning behind all of his decisions except why he sent that video to himself (directing him about what to do to save both Kurisu and Mayuri). It was annoying that he just received a video of himself telling him exactly how to get to Steins Gate. But Steins;Gate 0 is the reasoning behind that video so, I think both animes are as good as one another. I think you need Steins;Gate 0 to really appreciate the original series. |

Steins;Gate 0 was still a huge downgrade in every aspect and as a whole, the anime was pretty bad IMHO, those few bits I enjoyed from it wasn't enough to save that crappy anime in my eyes. |

And those are girl character's boobs got bigger amd mayushii fall in love with okabe. Alright, here is the wall of text my friend: The things I will say is a copy/paste from another person that was also complaining about Steins;Gate 0 some time ago, I saved what he said because I agree with everything he said about it so it's easier for me to just use that instead of writing a wall of text myself because I'll just be repeating the same things he said about it. This is the copy/paste: The good things about Steins;Gate 0: *The pretty good OST (the OG was better though) *Episode 8 (which in my opinion, rivals the best episodes of the OG) *Episode 19 and 21 were pretty good as well (once the time leaping started happening it started to get interesting and the return of Hououin Kyouma was awesome) *It had a great start (the first 2 episodes were decent, the OG was kind of confusing at first) *Like any other anime, it had it's good moments in some episodes (the good moments in the OG was a lot better though) *Maho (she was a great addition but she's obviously below Kurisu) The bad things about Steins;Gate 0: *Bad directing *Extremely bad action scenes (seriously, the action scenes is at the very bottom in the anime industry) *Retarded super-powered characters moving at the speed of sound and dodging bullets at point blank in the middle of the warzone and slashing heads off like butter with the bare hands (this was extremely retarded, this wasn't Steins;Gate at all, it was simply some dumb generic shounen anime at this point) *Episode 18 (which was the biggest offender of the whole franchise, simply the worst episode by far... ughh... it was so cringe-worthy) *Underdeveloped characters *Underdeveloped story *Dumb generic villains (Leskinen was dumb, he's the same generic villain we see over and over again EVERYWHERE, the same dumb villain who will stop whatever he's doing to explain the whole plan, the only thing he was missing was a mustache to twirl it around while explaining the master plan... the cringe) *Kagari (another dumb character, apart from the super-powered BS she was also uninteresting, looked exactly like Kurisu for no apparent reason, had a cringe-worthy script like saying "mommy" all the freaking time, etc...) *Episode 18 *Samurais *Okabe (he wasn't interesting at all, he started to get interesting at the end of the anime... *sigh*) *Lack of Kurisu (she's simply the heart of the franchise, Steins;Gate just doesn't feel like Steins;Gate without her around) *The emotional moments weren't that good (apart from episode 8 which was a masterpiece IMHO) *Amadeus (who was only there to talk random crap with Okabe and afterwards disappeared for half of the show, Amadeus was simply a filler character in the anime, she had a bigger role in the VN) *A slow-paced story that dragged forever to get somewhere, Steins;Gate 0 finally started going somewhere in the last couple of episodes, this anime was SLOW and uninteresting to me *Mediocre slice of life (for the most part, Steins;Gate 0 was simply a slice of life anime... a mediocre one at that) *Lack of good plot twist (the OG Steins;Gate has way better plot twist that kept me interested) *Lack of sci-fi and time travels (Steins;Gate 0 would have been a much better anime if the story had less of those boring mediocre slice of life and had more sci-fi and time travel involved like in the OG) *The answer that Okabe found to trick convergence was lacking and it felt like it came out of nowhere, this anime needed to focus on this more, having Okabe time leaping over and over again to see if he's able to trick convergence and ultimately, send that video mail to the past once he finds the answer is one of the things this anime needed, the VN is at fault here too *Did I mentioned episode 18? That's the copy/paste, I should also add that Steins;Gate 0 felt way too childish for my taste, one of the reasons I loved the original is because it's a dark/mature anime (at least in the 2nd half, this is my type of anime!) but Steins;Gate 0 felt way too childish for my taste with the crap that happened with Kagari, her kung-fu and slashing heads off with her bare hands, super-powers and freaking Samurais, what is this? is this Steins;Gate or a freaking shounen anime? I didn't sign for this type of crap when I was watching Steins;Gate 0, If I really wanted to watch this type of crap I would watch a shounen anime instead like the dozens of generic shounen animes that exist out there but Steins;Gate 0 did exactly that, it became generic and too shounen for my taste and as the cherry on top the animation in the action scenes was HORRENDOUS. Oh, I also didn't like the characters having bigger boobs all of a sudden either, I also didn't like those forced lewd/ecchi moments, these things was dumb and was made just to please the horny teenagers out there. Steins;Gate 0 wasn't a perfect anime, to me it was mediocre in every way but episode 17 & 18 completely killed this mediocre anime and turned this into a crappy anime with a couple of good episodes, the icing on the cake that made me dislike Steins;Gate 0 even further was seeing mother fucking Samurais in it, that really sealed the deal for me, at that point I couldn't take this shit seriously anymore, this crap was an insult to a Steins;Gate fan like myself, this was nothing compared to Steins;Gate. |

Because she was trapped in a room for twelves year. You may have seen that scene where kagari wrote momma all over the room. And also Okabe was not interesting because he was a sad scientist 😂😂. The big boobs out of knowhere bugged me furing the whole series 😂😂 i havent read the VN so i dont know it is good or actually bad comparing to the VN. I will read it in future. So the thing is i like this series the same reason why you hate this😂😂 Yep, that pretty much sums it up, Steins;Gate is my favorite anime and that anime set the standards way too high so I was watching Steins;Gate 0 with extremely high expectations too, big mistake, if an anime doesn't reach those expectations then you will end up being disapointed at it as well. I understand the things with Kagari being mentally a 10 year old but I don't know man, I just found her script in this anime extremey cringey when she's speaking with Mayuri, she appears mature when she's around everyone else but once Mayuri is around she starts with the "mommy" crap and I start to cringe. And yeah, I understand Okabe being depressed and all but Okabe wasn't doing anything to move the story forward either, he was just there for the sake of it, this anime just didn't went anywhere for the majority of the episodes, it was pretty much a slice of life with barely anything happening in it and when stuff finally started happening it wasn't that good either (at least not good enough for me to make up for the slow and boring anime that I'm watching). In Steins;Gate I was already hyped, at the edge of my seat and feeling the suspense, the dread, the thriller, the emotion and all that good stuff in episode 13 and up, I felt none of this in Steins;Gate 0 and what I got instead was crappy episodes like episode 17 and 18 with the BS that happened in the rooftop with those dumb meme-soldiers and the Kagari's kung-fu bullshitery and if that wasn't enough, I also got mother fucking Samurais later on to seal the deal, man I'm telling ya, that shit really ruined Steins;Gate 0 for me. But yeah, good to have a civilized conversation about this with you, it was nice talking to you mate. Peace. |

OP's question simply was to compare S;G with S;G0. It had nothing to do with your unpopular opinion. I never understood why so many people compare a timeless classic with your average isekai. Maybe I've to finish Rezero to know the answer. Just because Rezero has a suffering protagonist & some form of time travel, that doesn't mean it's worthy to even compare it with S;G, let alone be considered better. Rezero is simply an isekai/fantasy thriller with some time travel components whereas S;G is a sci-fi thriller which goes in depth about time travel with actual scientific facts & concepts. Not even remotely similar for a decent comparison. Liking Rezero over s;g is a subjective matter but comparing them is absurd. Not liking the side characters is your problem. All of them were fleshed out & given almost equal importance in furthering the plot. Some of them got better character development in 0. The whole show is happening from Okabe's perspective. He takes the centre,so naturally he will be more fleshed out, next being Kurisu. It's like Shinsekai Yori. It happened from Saki's perspective so she was the most fleshed out, next being Satouru. That doesn't mean other side characters aren't given importance for both the shows. Also speaking of Shinsekai Yori, why are you even comparing it to a shounen? Just because the children weren't made aware of the dark history & you thought it's similar to AOT's Titan history? It's completely different. |

| Yeah no not even close Zero is good but it's crap compared to the original series. The pacing was a mess, Okabe was genuinely annoying for the first half, really weird action scenes, and it took forever to get to the actual plot and reason for the creation of Zero. Maho Hiyajo was truly the only good thing to come out of Zero as I loved her character and I want to see more of her (especially interacting with Okabe and Kurisu) on top of that a few cool and memorable moments but that's it honestly Zero doesn't compare to the original. |

| The pacing and cut content from the VN are the worst offenders IMHO, the mixing of the routes could have been handled way better (They even dared to put a "filler" episode FFS). There were also some really weird and cringy changes/additions to the script (Ep 17/18). Leskinen character got butchered: his motivations in the anime were changed and his dialogues and mannerism felt too cartoonish, the director messed up big time. The actions scenes were laughable and sometimes straight up made no sense. I could suspend my disbelief in the VN but the anime managed to be so much worse it's not even funny. I could go on forever but my point is that each one of these flaws is not that bad on its own but once everything adds up it becomes a mess. |

| Steins;Gate (the original Anime) is a masterpiece. All the little details in the first half culminate in its second-half, and there's less than 30 minutes of filler. [SPOILER FOR 0] Steins;Gate 0 is NOT a masterpiece. Allow me to discuss the 3 problems people have with it: 1) Maho. I think Maho's an alright addition to the cast, and since Kurisu is gone, someone has to fill that hole. 2) Amadeus. Amadeus is also fine. The whole purpose of its existence is to give Okabe some hope, before crushing it again. Despite being a plot device, it's fine. 3) Kagari. Kagari is my problem with S;G. It's all a bad retcon. I find it hard to believe that Suzuha would just forget about Kagari if she knew about her in the original, since that would've been part of her mission. That being said, episodes 19-23 are 100% worth the mid-drag of 0. Holy shit, those episodes are all masterpieces. Not on par with S;G Episodes 12-14 + 23, but damn near close. |

| Steins;Gate 0's anime is great — in fact, many would say it's even better than the visual novel. But far too many anime onlies don't really understand its place in the storyline. Steins;Gate 0's anime is a sequel to its visual novel, rather than a conventional adaptation of it. To get the full story of Steins;Gate 0, both the visual novel and anime are necessary. The anime serves as the final route of the story (which was mostly unseen in the VN). But the overwhelming majority of people skip the visual novel and are left without really understanding S;G 0. Others are disappointed because they think Steins;Gate 0 is a season 2. In reality, it's just a side entry in the franchise. We know this to be true because they list the mainlines on the SciADV website. S;G 0 isn't among them. Heck, half of the S;G 0 VN is straight up just reused content from Arclight, the Epigraph trilogy, and the Ouroboros novel. (S;G/S;G 0 spoilers below) Anyways, I see some people somehow assert that S;G 0 creates plot holes when in reality, it doesn't really make any noticeable ones. In reality, the original Steins;Gate anime deviated so much from the visual novel that most would outright consider it non-canon (even though it was 90% faithful). They outright changed the central antagonistic force from the Committee of 300 to SERN in attempt to make the anime almost 100% standalone. The Steins;Gate visual novel is part 2 of a longer series and not exactly completely standalone (though it can still be one's entry point into the series). Additionally, the original Steins;Gate anime added in mechanics that contradict the visual novel. For instance, with the time leap machine, the anime adds that the 48 hour time limit exists because beyond that threshold, your brain is too dissimilar for the machine to function. In the visual novel, however, this is implied to be because of technological limitations. So when in S;G 0, they improve the time leap machine's limit to 2 weeks, this is impossible by the original anime's mechanics. Put simply, the S;G 0 anime follows visual novel canon (and is in fact the only canon SciADV anime). The original S;G anime doesn't. So to put it in simple terms, the Steins;Gate 0 anime is amazing for the context in which it serves. S;G 0's story is like a telephone game from world line to world line that ultimately converges to the anime route, where we see the final iteration of Beta Okabe. I love the thematic idea behind the "messenger" and iterative world lines. |

| People all be like “SG:0 is a sequel” while it’s not! It’s literally part of the story, its what actually happened in SG. Everything in SG:0 happened, what led to Mayuri slapping okabe! Slapping Okabe isn’t a natural thing from a person like Mayuri. There are tons of evidence for that SG:0 is what actually happened. SG:0 is a master piece, the suffering these characters had to pass through and okabe had to in order to reach the stein’s gate is just chilling. In the song “Skyclad observer”, shown in ep 23 of season 1, the lyrics go as “0 is the past, 1 is the future”, thats why SG:0, because its actually the past, its actually what happened!! Everything is mindblowing in these 2 season, easily the best anime! |

The mid-part of Steins;Gate 0 is the worst part so you need to endure. Steins;Gate 0 does get a bit better near the ending but as a whole, I consider Steins;Gate 0 a mediocre anime, it was nothing compared to Steins;Gate so for your sake, keep your expectations low in Steins;Gate 0, having high expectation will ruin that anime. |

ammaarboy said: Thoughts about my take? I enjoyed 0 just as much as the original, which is a LOT. but it is EXTREMELY flawed. there is so much wrong with it. from it's much, much weaker directing, to how garbage the so called villain was to terrible animation in some episodes to a ton of cheap use of shock value to every new character except the legal loli being just bad to unexplained plot points, THERE IS A LOT wrong with 0. but there is one thing, the best parts of 0 are actually as good as the original. it's just that the worst parts of 0 are kind of dog shit. let's just say the og steins gate was a 10/10 through and through. but 0 could have been anywhere between a 3/10 to a 10/10 purely based on what episode you're watching. |

| The original series is so complete and well made its hard for me to give it the equal treatment as it is very different from the main story and what made it so amazing. The character development is more limited as the original has fleshed out most of the main characters almost too well and 0 has to focus mostly on Oakrin, Mayuri and the new characters that are not as interesting overall. It still is very good, but the main series just is at a different level that's almost unmatchable. The story also has some and can sometimes feel very confusing at points. It just cannot match it, but I think it is a impactful series ending that needs to be watched if you watch the original. It is really good at filling in some of the what ifs and that ending might be better then the original. |
