Obviously the most advisable and the best thing is to see all the parts before the sixth but by seeing the third and knowing what the others are about, you would not get disoriented

You would be confused about what stands are, who is this Giorno, who is Jotaro. But you can do it if you feel like it.

Why do so many people want to skip parts? Don't start an anime because of the memes.

you can, though you probably wont enjoy part 6 as much if you do. part 3 will help you appreciate it. part 4 and 5 are good too.

I'm not some weirdo who thinks you shouldn't ever skip parts but part 6 is pretty much the only part you can't watch as a beginner since it's pretty much a direct follow up to part 3. If you wanted the shortest viewing experience then I would recommend parts 1, 3 and then 6 since they all follow through on the same story. Honestly though, I would watch the whole thing.

I know part 3 is pure ass but as soon as you get through it you have the joy of parts 4 and 5 which are really good and I highly recommend! 3 is the only dud.

No. Part 1 is really slow so you need to keep watching up to part 3, it sounds bad but really it's worth it, if you still don't like it once you get to part 3 then drop it, never skip parts, parts like 1 and 2 still give foundation to the story and the elements from those parts come back in part 7.

Now to answer your question you might still understand some parts? But you'd be really confused still, I highly recommend to not skip, seriously in order to truly enjoy and immerse yourself in Jojo you must not skip anything, it keeps getting better too.

part 1 is only 9 episodes so just muscle through that. part 2 is really good. part 3 is decent, part 4 is really good, part 5 is really good. part 1 is okay imo. good for setup but a tad lackluster

The people in the comments are stretching. I watched part 4 without any knowledge of the previous parts and understood everything. It's a reason jojo is not a long-running anime like op and split in parts because they can be enjoyed independently.

Part 6 has a lot of callbacks to previous parts. You'll definitely need to have watched Part 3, which in turn is a better experience if you've seen Part 1 and 2. There's a subplot in Part 4 that I believe gets an offhand mention but nothing in Part 5 comes up. That said, you should really try to watch the entire series. It's not that long compared to a lot of other long-running animanga and there's a lot to enjoy throughout.

Probably but I wouldn't recommend it. You at least need to know what happened in part 3 but its semi self contained. I do really recommend parts 4 and 5 tho they're great.

You could but you would be very confused and most likely wouldn't enjoy it at all. I believe that you should watch all the parts beforehand as they themselves are good, but at the bare minimum you should watch the first 3 parts so you can keep up with everything. That said, parts 4 and 5 are both incredible and worth the watch.

Nope. To watch part 6 gotta start from part 1 to 5. There’s characters that have relations with other characters in previous parts. It’s best to start from the beginning, like reading a book.

Yes you can, but you wont understand much of course, also you will miss half of the context. Why would someone even skip a part while watching a show? Its like starting with My Hero Academia Season 6

Technically, you can skip parts but I DON'T recommend that especially if you're planning to watch Part 6. Some details might be confusing if you're not familiar with the set-up of the previous parts.

But if you want to skip it so badly, then you should at least know about Part 1 and Part 3 to understand the continuity of the plot. But then again, I DON'T recommend doing that because you'll miss all the fun in the other parts (Parts 4 and 5 are great). Jojo isn't really an anime that you'll like immediately, it just grows into you after every part. Give the prior parts a chance first.

Don't skip any part. It's labeled from 1-8 so obviously you will start with the first one. I didn't enjoy Part 1 that much because I got spoiled a lot but I still enjoyed the rest of the story. Each Part has a unique protagonist so you won't feel bored (at least I didn't). Anyway, it's worth it and Part 6 is not out currently so you can binge them and wait for it to come out. You don't really need to binge it, as long as you enjoy watching it, it'll feel like it just passed by.

I don't think you would be able to understand what is going on whatsoever, because a lot of the story is related to other past parts of JoJo, the backstory and the stand powers would just leave you really confused.
However if you read about stand powers and etc, you could probably read Steel Ball Run or wait for it to be adapted in years to come.

i wouldn't recommend it, part 6 is hella confusing. Araki might say Jojo isn't a saga like Star Wars but it has one red string that connecting all the parts, and of course it starts in part 1. Even i, who followed all the parts still get confused when i read Stone Ocean.

But it's your choice after all.

Nah you have to sit through every part for it. There would be a lot you wouldn’t understand plus I recommend just watching the whole thing. Part one isn’t that great but luckily it’s only 9 episodes. Once you get to part 2 that’s where the show truly starts to pick up and gets into the good stuff

I'm chill with people skipping parts for any other part but this one is literally the climax of the story. You do need at least some prior knowledge before going in.

I’ve reread part 1 and few times and I think it’s good probably because I appreciate the series a lot more now

Jojo fans will skin you alive if you skip a part, but part 1 and 2 feel really slow compared to whatever happens from part 3 onwards. Of course you can skip parts, but you should just make sure the community doesn't know because they can be absolute b*tches about it.

OP, I think you can.

JoJo is a series so its reasonable to accept that you will miss some references to previous parts. You may not understand why a character chose to do this instead of that. Still, as you asked, I honestly think you can understand the plot. Almost all of the main characters are introduced in this part.

"Don't skip parts" is mainly said because it will cut your enjoyment and I think it is true. But if the alternative is that you won't watch this at all then it is fine.
I really encourage you to read at least a summary of part 1 and 3's stories, even though some events are reminded by Araki. I can also name a few characters for you to read their story if you are interested.

Sorry for necroposting. I wasn't planning to but after seeing all those 10 word answers I don't have a problem with this.

I wouldn't recommend it. A few characters and concepts introduced in earlier parts are key players in this one, so some important plot points will be confusing if you haven't seen the rest. If you don't care about the plot and just want to see the fights...then why start here?

I would say the only part that isn't relevant to the story here is part 5, but part 5 is probably the best Jojo anime adaptation, so don't skip it.

Jotarou is important in Part 6 and to understand him you need to watch parts 3,4,5
5 least important

Speedwagon Foundation is there again and this is from Part 2 and to know what Part 2 is about you'll need Part 1

And a few other concepts and ideas from earlier, mainly Part 3 are also there.

I'd say watch Parts 1 to 4, 5 not needed for Stone Ocean.
But might as well watch Giorno stopping the Mafia from selling drugs to kids, then.

Also, Stone Ocean brings every other part to an end with the epic end fight.

all these other guys being cringy and saying no you can litrally skip any part i do think 3rd part is very important tho since thats where they bring up the newer stuff and you basically get the jist of things

You literally gotta watch part 1 as well because DIO is a huge part of P6. You can't just skip "any part" because every part references older parts, so you'd be confused and even end up spoiling yourself on some things.
