I don't regret the choices i have made. It could have been something else tho. I used to watch Pokemon on T.V. but that didn't get me into anime. Demon Slayer convinced me.

Yes because at the time I didn’t like shows that are dark and Aot was pretty dark so I didn’t enjoy it. I think I would enjoy it now if I watch it instead of back then. Also it was pretty boring.

It's weird to be asked that. My introduction to anime was "Hana no Ko lunlun". While my gateway anime was "Shaman King". To tell you the truth, I wouldn't change either one.

Nope, not one bit.

Doraemon was the SHIEEETTTT back then, and nobody can tell me anything otherwise.

Not really, my gateway anime was One Piece, and despite the obvious fact that it got me into anime, and even though I dropped the anime, I read all the story through the manga which was an amazing journey within itself, so no regrets.

I don't remember which anime would exactly count as my gateway, as I watched a lot of them at the beginning. I did watch Fullmetal Alchemist about a year before I got into anime, and while it isn't as good as I once thought it was, I don't regret it. I also do not regret watching any of the anime I watched in 2014, when I first started taking anime seriously. So overall, I would say no.

Why would I? If I didn't watch said series, I wouldn't find out what I enjoy today.

My biggest regret was not my gateway anime, but not watching more anime earlier on. I only would watch stuff that I could find on adult swim when I was in 4th grade- OG FMA and Inuyasha specifically, and things on netflix when I was in high school. I didnt start really watching anime until college, at which point there was just so much to watch. Just wish I had taken the time earlier on to watch some of the so earlier stuff that I wouldnt have as much to watch now

Naruto and One Piece, some of the greatest memories came from those two series, still watching One Piece to this day as well.

Saint Seiya didn't age well and I don't think it is a perfect anime, but I am really glad I started watching anime with it.

I only started watching anime about a year ago, and I went from being a typical "anime hater" to really interested in anime when I watched A silent voice. I'm happy with it, and instead of only watching romance anime like that, I continued the weeb journey by watching beginner animes like demon slayer and mha. (:

No, I don't see any reason why I should regret something like that. If I were to go back in time to watch my current favourites, I probably wouldn't have the same appreciation for them, since my expectations were very different back then.

This ground is soiled by those before me and their lies. I dare not look up for on me I feel their eyes

I feel like if K-On! was my first anime rather than SAO I wouldn't have taken so long to warm up to anime. Would have been nice knowing about CGDCT right out the gate rather than having to figure out over time that the perfect genre was there waiting for me the whole time.

Yeah, I regret my gateway anime because they were so damn good that it set my standards too high for what the average anime was actually like............ j/k

Real talk though, I remember my first few times watching Nausicaä, Laputa, Princess Mononoke, and Graveyard of Fireflies (some of the first anime I watched) and how otherworldly emotionally invested I was in these movies. If so much time hadn't past between then and time I created my MAL account they would probably be in my top 10.

Edit: My first anime was actually My Neighbor Totoro but I have no regrets since it was my introduction to the spectacular world of Studio Ghibli Films.

I would replace it.

My gateway anime was Pokémon sun and moon. And I really hate that show so I'd much rather have my gateway anime be the following

Naruto

Boku no hero academia (not to be confused with boku no Pico)

One piece

Yugioh

Yeah that's it.

Nope I would not change my gateway anime at all. Robotech was the first one I ever watched back in 1995 and I did not know what anime was but I knew I love it epic cartoon. But the anime that got me rely in to anime when I knew what anime was is Slayer and to this day it´s still my nr1 anime.

"Do you regret your gateway anime?"

No, absolutely not.

I know people make promises all the time
Then they turn right around and break them
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding
But I could be that guy to heal it over time
And I won't stop until you believe it
'Cause baby you're worth it
