Darling in the Franxx is not the best anime in 2018, but it is the most important.

I freaking love this anime. I didn't think I would at first and I still have many unanswered questions but the character development is literally top notch. The relationships are beautiful to me, the problems make sense. I mean they don't know where they came from, what their purpose is, or what they are fighting for but they are blindly fighting for the adults and for papa who is just a man behind the curtain who is out for everyone's demise. Is it the best anime of 2018? I'm not sure, 2018 isn't over yet but it is definitely up there. These characters make this show not the battles or the klaxosaurs or the story line really but these characters do in my opinion.

Darling in the FranXX at least miles better mecha anime (and anime in general) than previous mecha series (Aldnoah.Zero, Gundam IBO, Gargantia, Cross Ange)

Remember Re:Zero? The way both that and FranXX shot up in popularity is strikingly similar, and Re:Zero isn't talked about a lot today, which I imagine will happen to FranXX when it finishes.
I actually want to know what anime are still talked about years after they finished because i dont see 1 example

I can't deny that Darling in the Franxx is a popular anime but with all the sequels from this year, i think that it will buried in oblivion. I don't understand your meaning of 'cultural significance'. It doesn't have anything like that. It's just some weird drama, forced situations and casual fanservice. I use the word 'popular' because i will be attacked if i said something bad about this anime. Did you remember the most popular anime from the last season called Violet Evergarden? We all forget about it because it was so overhyped before the first episode. In the end, it had no significance/cultural moments. It's the same with this anime.
2nd time i saw a comment like that where are your SOURCES that everyone one forgot about something lol i dont get it btw if you are actually speaking about something you surely didnt forget it

It's normal when something is overhyped. Do you remember Aldnoah Zero? Everybody talked a lot about that years ago (2014-15). Now, nobody gives a fuck about that anime. They are many examples.
BANZAI NIPPON. Nippon is the Land of freedom. Nippon is the Land of Peace. Nippon is the Land of Justice and Prosperity.

In Nippon, we trust.

We love Nippon, we love Anime. Anime love us, Nippon love us. 日本

In 6 weeks times, this anime will fade into obscurity and absolutely no one will remember or talk about it again.

Outside of the occasional waifu wars, simply because Zero Two is so hugely popular, by the time Winter rolls around, this will just be another failed and poorly written mecha anime.

Really? I can name a few that are staples in almost all anime discussions.

- Sword Art Online
- Mahouka
- Mars of Destruction (even something bad can become Legend)
- Boku no Pico (for the memes, i bet you forgot this was also anime LMAO)
- Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, MHA, basically any popular shounen

There are alot more I'm sure.

I agree that it's one of the most important anime right now, though not the "best". I'll just paste what I said in the episode discussion here. Spoilers of some stuff up to episode 18 so beware:

This show is a warning about a possible future for us if we disregard biological sex and gender and homogenise everything. It shows the children in an isolated environment where the "adults" don't interfere or indoctrinate them so the children naturally come to the conclusions that they do. So things like wanting to have babies and get married are portrayed in a positive light as the natural outcome. It's quite an interesting take on it.

You don't see Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tale, HunterxHunter, One Punch Man even D. Gray Man talked about in most anime discussions, atleast ones tending to the shounen side? (OPM is still running, and HxH is on perma hiatus, but everything else is complete)

And yes, I can know, and it doesn't take much to make such statements.

Outside of Rem, is anyone or anything from Re:Zero discussed at all? Outside of the memes, does anyone care about Re:Zero, and the hype train on that anime was significantly higher than that of DitF. Ergo that was based on a long running LN and DitF is a Nishigori original.

Outside of the amazing OST of Aldnoah, when was the last time it was brought up? Lets add in Guilty Crown and Qualidea Code here as well since Egoist, Supercell and Lisa are fucking insane.

I based all my statements above on one simple observation. Patterns. They tend to repeat, all the time. Most people can tell the post fate of an anime after it finishes airing. And DitF will be the same.

In real life of course yes my friends only know the shonen you mentionned but if you were talking about reddit/anime (that's where i was actually talking about its the biggest anime forum) I really dont think DitF or rezero will be forgotten easily from what i saw rezero just got ova and it had à lot of interaction also DitF have even more interaction than rezero in almost every eps
Quice edit: forgot to mentions that rezero,OPM, DitF have the most upvoted anime discussions eps
