| I thought Extra was kinda funny the first time I watched it. It was better than I expected considering how much people don't seem to like it. I decided to read all routes though, so it became a bit of a chore, but it paid off imo (except for Chizuru's route, which doesn't really add anything to the rest of the trilogy). Good thing the routes are short. Unlimited was no problem at all. I thought it was actually kind of cool and it made me expect even more of MLA. Needless to say, MLA didn't fail to deliver. While they're not the same thing - but still pretty similar in certain aspects -, the fact that you are a fan of Steins;Gate makes you even more likely to enjoy it imo. Just get Extra out of the way asap and don't expect much of it. The less you expect, the more you are likely to enjoy the silly humor, but if you don't then at least you won't be disappointed. I suggest reading all routes except for Chizuru's. If you start to get a little bored, just pick up the pace and read them quickly. Consider it the build up for MLA. Unlimited is fine, but you don't have to replay it. There are no routes in Unlimited, so it's mostly h-scene related stuff. |

Honestly, just looking at the cover makes me really reluctant since it highly resembles the kind of things I try to actively avoid in anime >.>" but since I keep hearing great things about it, I guess I really do need to try out MuvLuv. It does represent Extra properly, but if you think Alternative focuses on the harem aspect of its build up, you couldn't be more wrong. The most important thing about the girls is to understand them as characters and their background. Basically, Extra is a slice of life romcom that serves as build up for the characters and their background. Chizuru's background is an exception though, you can just skip her route in Extra since it adds nothing to the rest of the story. Unlimited adds further character build up and the focus shifts away from the harem aspect of Extra. I won't say anything else about it because blowing your mind away after this much build up is MLA's job. Anyway, I'll just say one thing - you have Steins;Gate in your favorites. Based on the assumption that most people who like Steins;Gate enjoy that sort of sci-fi and drama, that's enough reason for you to start reading MuvLuv right away without thinking twice at all imo. Just get MuvLuv Extra and Unlimited out of the way asap because MLA is fascinating and really touching. You won't regret it. EDIT: By the way, I suggest avoiding reviews. You're probably better off not knowing what to expect of it. I don't think it's possible to talk about MLA clearly without spoilers for the most part, so reading reviews is a risk not worth taking imo. If you want to know anything else about the trilogy, you might as well ask me or someone else who's already read it and will keep their reply as spoiler free as possible. |
