Todoroki did a good job of hitting it.

I didn’t think Eijun was that fragile. Mixed feelings considering how he reacted when Masuko hit his ball the first time.

I feel bad for Kawakami being forced to fix Eijun’s mess.

Just wanna get some stuff off my chest~ hahahha:

I don't think is a matter of pride or whatnot by not walking Raichi. Is more of a psychological gamble. When you walk a batter, you are essentially saying that your pitcher and his/her pitches can never win against that batter. Of course winning the whole game is more important than winning against one single batter. But Yakushi have a good set of clean-up batters, Raichi is a hard battle (but not impossible as proven by the first time Sawamura face off with him), but the other batters are also difficult to deal with. Walking Raichi (their greatest and proudest weapon) will only boost the other team's morale and confidence WHILE lowering your own team's confidence. And as mentioned by Miyuki in an earlier episode, unintentionally and intentionally walking a batter has a huge difference in how each of the team will play their game afterwards.
Not to forget, they are all kids, the oldest of them is like 18. There's a plethora of things that could affect their mental state greatly. And for kids, of course they would always lean towards gambling for a better chance than giving out without trying and than not having the experience and maturity of "brushing" it aside and start fresh.

Well regardless of that walk or not walk gamble. When I first watched this episode, I do find Sawamura's reaction after getting the Homerun a little odd, out of his optimistic persona. Well Masuko senpai did get a homerun off him in the intrasquad game, and he was fine. But of course the stakes are different for this official match and an internal team match. Honestly though, I didn't expect Sawamura to be a character with that level of awareness. Even now that I am rewatching, up to this episode, it is still kind of strange to me that Sawamura is this fragile.
But after completing up to the latest season, I get that Sawamura is a way more sensitive and psychologically deeper character than what the show has let on thus far.

And I can only understand Sawamura's reaction as that he is a sensitive 16 year old child who had no experience on a baseball stage this big with teammates that have passion rivalling his or even more than him (In addition to having most of them more skilled and experienced than himself). Other than the pressure he most certainly have to be shouldering then, he probably also raised his own expectations (especially when his first confrontation with Raichi was a win). The homerun was a huge difference in expectations and reality.

That being said, the story really didn't do a good job in building up the character for Sawamura to lead up to this fragility. The whole story up to this point just tells me that Sawamura is an emotional yet needlessly optimistic (which I also see it as him being extremely oblivious to a lot of things as part of his optimism). But as the story continues, they really did build up Sawamura's character to having more depth than these past 36 episodes let out on. So, either they really didn't build him up right, OR they actually decided to add depth to him from this point on.
This sensitivity of Sawamura is much expanded on for the rest of the show. Which I actually like, rather than a purely oblivious and insensitive loud noise boy~ hahahha

Devastating homerun for Eijun, hopefully he'll learn and improve from this experience. Good that the team is reliable like Masuko's amazing clutch double-play at the end.

Every pitcher in this show seems to be so delicate bruh. It’s like they’ve never conceded runs before

I also don’t like how the pitcher tends to cop a lot of the blame for losing when they’re only one person, compared to 10+ others who are meant to score runs when they bat

Still great show tho, just my thoughts. Also Tanba deffs gonna come save the day!

Love it, shows Eijun that it's not impossible to win.
The players are still there to win it and they're showing it!

Beautiful save at the end.
