But here's a few things from those time periods. Can anyone recommend any historical manga? Like stuff set in the Edo or Mejia period. Thanks Gamaran, Nurarihyon no Mago and Sidooh are from the Edo Period. Clockwork, Donten ni Warau, Ikoku Meiro no Croisée and Meiji Hiiro Kitan are from the Meiji period. For some miscellaneous historical manga's, Blood and Steel, Kingdom, Otoyomegatari, Shinobi no Kuni and Vinland Saga were all fairly entertaining for me. |

dinesj21 said: I've heard that Gintama is really good...but it's super long. Is it really worth the commitment? Well I'm not sure about the manga at least, I have a few of the volumes of the English translation which is total garbage, but the art is nice, and the story is the same as the anime. I like the anime, if you aren't sure you should watch the Benizakura-hen movie as that is a remaster of the first major combat arc, it takes a while for the story to go more battle shounen, until then it's just a comedy/parody series really. I'd recommend not buying the English translation of the physical copies, but if you are interested, maybe just read a few chapters to see if it strikes your interest, or watch one of the movies as I said, some of the ongoing jokes might strike a miss but it gives you an idea of what to expect. |

Also everyone has their own experiences and different things that will trigger sadness empathy etc. My suggestion here would just to keep reading different stuff until you find something yourself. |

| @SAMOAK Martial arts - Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, Tenjou Tenge, Change 123, Hayate x Blade, Ikkitousen, Teppuu, Ping. Fantasy like gate are kind of hard to think of. I don’t know any that are very similar at least. But for a fantasy you can try: Mahou Sensei Negima!, Arata Kangatari, Cavalier of the Abyss (sequel of Immortal Regis), Break Blade, Superior, Sengoku Youko, Watashi no Messiah-sama. About touching…not sure here either but among the popular ones are: Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan, Bokurano, Annarasumanara, Gunslinger Girl. And if you are into LNs: Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria, Mimizuku to Yoru no Ou, Hikaru ga Chikyuu ni Ita Koro......, Kantan na Enquete/Monitor desu. |

| Hey, I'm trying to find a rom-com manga with a very unique art style. I would prefer it have a resolved ending (so no harem endings, we know who the main character likes). Also strangeness is not a deterrent. I like abnormal plots (i.e. nozoki ana). Here are a few that I thought had interesting art and plot: Nozoki Ana - http://myanimelist.net/manga/21419/Nozoki_Ana (It seemed very bold to me, although maybe it was just the plot.... I'll let you decide on that one) Sukima Suki - http://myanimelist.net/manga/16121/Sukima_Suki (Art style was weird but I grew to like it) Kangoku Gakuen - http://myanimelist.net/manga/25297/Kangoku_Gakuen (Very funny over the top style art and story wise) Jitsu wa Watashi wa - http://myanimelist.net/manga/57015/Jitsu_wa_Watashi_wa (Caught my eye immediately, absolutely love the faces) One Piece - http://myanimelist.net/manga/13/One_Piece (Although it isn't rom-com the art, especially early on is very eye catching) Thanks is advance for the help! |

All of them are very different from each other – maybe you’ll find something worthy. Plus you can look at my previous post #488 for more comedy oriented rom-coms. |

Usually I think it's a good idea for people to read the manga of an anime they really liked, it's nice to see where it came from and as you know it already you are more likely to actually finish it most of the time. Other than that, for general recs, you have already got Mx0 listed as reading, that's one that i would recommend that you read, any of the bigger shounen titles really. Other things you might like, Bonnouji, Chikan Otoko, Death Note, Koe no Katachi are all fairly short non fighting series really. Just looking around at random stuff also can be a good way of finding nice mangas, just keep an eye out because there's way more out there than there is anime, a lot of the good ones get swept under the rug. |

| Hi there, I'm looking for some recommends for completed manga. Preferred excluded tags: harem, historical, mecha, fantasy, one-shot, webtoons, BL, and shoujo/josei unless the summary catches my attention but I doubt it. My manga list is new so it's probably missing some drops, and temp drops like Yanki kun. And it doesn't have obvious titles in there like Death Note, Monster, or the newly completed Naruto. I'm planning to read O/A or Sankarea next. I still have a ton of unreads but it's getting harder to find something actually enjoyable. |
