| Great final episode, with a beautifully animated dance sequence from Maomao sending off the end of the first season, and her mother's marriage to Lakan. It's awesome seeing her in such a different way than we're used to. |
| Loved this show. The second half was pretty weak IMO, but the last few episodes were great. Maomao shines when she's in the rear palace, it's insane to think how they got anything done without her there. |

It's ironic how this show ends while proudly flaunting its deepest flaw: Maomao herself. Of course she strikes a perfect dance like she's peak Shakira or something; I was more enthralled with Lakan and Fengxian's case despite it being flawed in writing, so returning to these two vapid characters is just mindnumbingly boring. And granny doesn't receive any consequences despite being a clear aggravant in that convoluted case between the strategist and the concubine, which is particularly astounding to me.

I still can't figure out why she tried to hide Fengxian so much, for such a long time. did she think that Lakan would kill her or smth? It doesnt make sense. This case could be solved years ago, and Lakan wouldnt need to make creepy remarks of how he r#ped some courtesan like he did some episodes ago. |

| pretty fun anime and very well made too. you can tell a lot of efforts have been put into it. i binged it in less than a day so that says something. 8/10. onward to season 2. |
