Hype!
A little unfortunate they cut out the Shido vs Kunigami match but I suppose they didn't have enough time to put it into the same episode.

Regardless, excited that S2 is in the works! This was easily my favorite anime to come out of 2022 without a doubt.

AMAZINGGG I WAS NOT EXPECTING FOR ISAGIS TEAM TO LOSE BUT ANYTHING WORKS IG!

To be honest there was absolutely no chance for them to win since their opponents were an international team. Like Ego said the national Japanese team is still very weak compared to internal ones so how could the Blue Lock team win.
I am so excited for the next season to be released but I hope the animation will get better tho ⚰️
Yes, you are right but you know it's not reality so any unexpected thing is possible he and his team improved so quickly and well I guess I had high hopes. As you should be I'm waiting for the next season as well ^^

That was one big roller coaster of a ride. I'm pretty sad Kunigami was eliminated from Bluelock, but hopefully we see more of him 😶👀. We've got a few new faces, such as Shidou. He reminds me of those pomeranians with their fur colored with pink dye.

I'm super hyped to see Isagi's development soon, especially regarding his physique/physical skills so it can at least go up to par with his genuis. I want them to suffer more to the point that some will cry and scream with frustration, so that we can really see their true potential.

Finished watching it and....I don't know if I'm just outgrowing anime by now but this has a 8.36 score which is a very high score and all and yet the anime....was just plain silly.

This ain't football, this doesn't remotely resemble football. It's constantly from start to finish so completely over the top and I know it's meant to be dramatised for viewers but it's done to such an overboard extent that it feels like the series was written by a teenager for kids all hyped up on sugar.

The characters in particular were just ridiculous, all of them so over the top that none of them are likable. You got that Rin who seems like a copy of Sasuke, the main character who won't stop shouting and exclaiming everything, guys who are constantly angry and more like Vegeta from Dragon Ball, overly effeminate guys, one of the main characters is going on about a monster inside him, a crybaby who won't stop panicking, twins where one of em don't speak at all etc.

It's a football anime, it's more over the top than DBZ and it's just about guys kicking balls into a net. Haikyu was good because while it was still over the top it wasn't done to such a ridiculous degree that it didn't resemble the sport they were playing. This is just way overdone, loud and obnoxious, like a spoof or something.

And to say how much they play football, most the time they're just talking.

So how this scores so high I don't know but I think I'm just starting to lose interest in anime after like 15 years of watching it.

The remaining Blue Lock players are all here! Coming from the manga, I'm surprised just how colorful their hair colors are, we don't always get to see them being colored aside from color spread. I am most hyped to see Shido, Hiori, and Kurona, aside from them there are also obviously many faces I recognize, some that'll see soon in the anime and some further on, but all is good until you see that Kunigami has failed the second selection, what a shame, truly... If only there were a way to come back...

The U-20 vs Blue Lock 11 arc is coming for the next season along with some of the matches such as how Kunigami lost to Shido. Man, I'm fucking hyped up, U-20 arc is probably one of the greatest and most glorious arcs of the series to date. It's a match that will put the no-named Blue Lock players against the famous and well-known U-20 Japan National Team. A match that is not limited to the eyes of Ego and the JFU but to Japan and an extent, to the rest of the world. Shit's about to get fired up!!!

============================================

The Blue Lock anime is enjoyable, I find that it adapted the manga nicely. The sound effects were impactful and the OSTs are wonderful, the art style was lovely but of course, there were some things I did not like like the aura of the characters. I wish it was more solid, something that was drawn together with the character model instead of just some glowing aura that was placed on top during the touch-up process of the episode creation. And for God's sake, Green is a nasty color for my man Isagi, where is his Purplish-blue aura??? However, that's all simply my pet peeve...

The biggest problem I had with the anime is its lack of 'good' animations. There were some tidbits of fluid almost rotoscoped-like animation, but that was like a single needle amongst a stack of hay. They needed more fluid animation, more movements during Isagi's analysation moments, more dramatic visual effects, more MORE MORE!!! This is not a series that bases itself on intricate story, and masterful character writing. THIS IS A STORY ABOUT GUYS WRECKING SHIT UP WITH THEIR UNMATCHED EGOS!

If the 2nd season has so much visuals effects to the point where we barely see the green color of the grass field, you know the studio is doing things right. Afterall that's how it many of the suspensful scens are in the manga.

Wild final episode, and I already can't wait for a 2nd season. Rin's team gets crushed by the Big 5 World Strikers, and everyone felt that insane feeling of being the best in the world, except Rin, who was frustrated and thought he could take them down. RIP KUNIGAMI, apparently Ryusei sent him sliding down to hell and is also a jerk, he doesn't care if a player was a nice, fair, pure, and graceful. He even tried to kick Isagi for telling him that he didn't know anything about Kunigami, Chigiri saves Isagi from being kicked by him. Bachira coming in with that roast on Ryusei, deserved. Anyways, Bluelock might get shut down soon by the bigwigs of Japanese soccer, and with things changing, if Bluelock wins against Japan's U-20 team, they can be the new U-20 team to represent the world.

this anime is an example of how shonen anime should be....

well it's not perfect, but this anime is a masterpiece is a breath of fresh air in the world of shonen and transmits very beautiful values, the matches are incredible, it's realistic and you want more

ego is a man who will not only forge you in football but in everyday life

Isagi is the best protagonist for my taste, he has a very good development, in short....what more can I say

it's my favorite anime, there is no anime that surpasses it at the moment (maybe hell paradise idk) I recommend this masterclass to you.

god I hope those world 5 people aren't going to be actual characters and feature that much, I don't like any of those designs and I hate hearing the horrible english VAing. I'd much rather have seen what happened to the others back in stage 2.

this episode/finale just pissed me off, not that interested in any of the new characters they showed.

And a lot of the mindset and mentality this series has towards football is just incorrect. The "football isn't about a team and is about strikers" is just wrong, although goalscorers do always get the glory I actually see that as a fault of modern football. We often see players who played outstandingly better overall games outshone for accolades simply because some other player tapped some in. Of course Strikers can also be exceptionally skilled and the best player on pitch, but so can any player in any position. It's also consistently pretty disrespectful of Japanese football; calling it not good enough, placing pretty unfair and unrealistic lofty expectations on them, and using that as reasoning insult the level of football.

can't say I'm that pumped for s2 although it was a enjoyable watch at times.

As expected, Rin's team was decimated by the World Five and that match was more of an assessment of how much they have to go to compete on the world stage. They were also tasked with learning English, gotta love that Engrish though(shout out to the Japanese VAs for trying their best). With the second selection concluded, only 35 players remain that are put into 7 groups of 5 including Rin's team. The second team was the remaining guys from Isagi's team from the second selection. The rest of the teams were guys that were in the first selection along with Reo who also made the cut. Kunigami  on the other hand didn't make it as he was eliminated by the hands of Shidou Ryusei who was laughing it up in front of Isagi. There was no time to fight about it as Ego appeared to deliver the news that the big wigs in charge want to shut down Blue Lock, so Ego proposed that the third selection will be Japan's U-20 which is basically Japan's National High School team vs. Blue Lock's best eleven players that will take place in three weeks. If Blue Lock wins, then they will take over the Japan U-20 team.

While most people will say that Blue Lock has rode the wave of the 2022 World Cup in Qutar with Japan making it to the round of 16, this show has definitely live up to they hype. What I like about Blue Lock is how it challenges Japan's collective mindset and dives into the concept of individualism. The balancing act of playing as a team vs. scoring for yourself. Soccer is a team sport, but if you want to win especially on the World Stage like the World Cup you need a powerful striker. I look forward to watching Season 2 and maybe the movie. I'll try to read the manga too as the anime skipped a few parts.

8/10

The Blue Lock is Real!!!
@AddaeAkono Ah, an 8/10 for Blue Lock? How generous of you to overrate such a pedestrian series. The notion that it "rode the wave of the 2022 World Cup" is laughable at best. If anything, it's a desperate attempt to capitalize on a global event, and it falls flat in execution.

And let's talk about this so-called "challenge to Japan's collective mindset." Please, it's nothing more than a tired trope masquerading as deep insight. The series doesn't "dive into the concept of individualism"; it merely skims the surface, offering nothing we haven't seen a thousand times before.

As for the "balancing act of playing as a team vs. scoring for yourself," that's not groundbreaking; it's Soccer 101. Any series that truly wanted to explore the complexities of the sport would go far beyond such simplistic dichotomies.

You're looking forward to Season 2 and "maybe the movie"? How quaint. Perhaps you should set your sights higher and seek out narratives that offer more than just shallow thrills. And as for reading the manga because "the anime skipped a few parts," trust me, you're not missing out on anything of substance.

In summary, Blue Lock doesn't live up to any hype—it merely perpetuates it. Far from being "real," it's a hollow spectacle that leaves much to be desired. But then again, if you're content with mediocrity, who am I to stop you?
