I first watched this because of all the hype and waifu zero two but was severely disappointed. It had a good start which led to shit and now we come to the ending. This anime had so much potential but unfortunately was ruined. I enjoyed every single screen time moment that zero two had. She’s joined the list of the top waifus

The anime was full of plotholes. Authors decided to solve bitchigos relationship with Goro with a timeskip

How did Ikuno become a genius out of nowhere and start curing everything. She was worthless especially with that yuri garbage but this isn’t how you fix it.
Why did Zorome feel familiar to that old lady
Why make Futoshi accept Kokoros love for mitsuru if they’re just gonna make him start throwing up and crying all the time
Why make the parasites age quickly if they just forget about it entirely

Zero two and Hiros promises were discarded as if they were never made to begin with. What happened to the what it means to be human part. Being reincarnated as humans just fucks it all up. Also it isn’t even wholesome because the bond they shared was built through hardship and time. They will never have that again in a peaceful city. If it was shown that they remember some of their past life together I would’ve been able to accept it but guess not.

Having their honeymoon in space was so retarded. It was even more cringe when squad 13 started shouting into space

The world building and backstory was complete ass.

Shit story. Why the fuck did they think it would be good to have a space war with aliens. Dumbest shit ever. Completely pointless.

Pacing was shit

There was so much unnecessary drama in this show.

The shit with bichigo in episode 14 and 15.
Kokoro in episode 16 breaking promises so easily and switching pilots
Episode 17 with Kokoro forcing herself onto mitsuru. Kokoro then ends up doing it with mitsuru after she’s broken down crying. Everything is just so forced.
Episode 18 with forced cringe yuri shit with creep ikuno
Episode 19 giving us the backstory and world building we needed at the beginning of the anime but they decide to show it at the end.
Episode 23 with Strelizia transforming into zero two and two satellites forming a warp gate

Truly unfortunate that bichigo, kokero and ikuno weren’t killed off. Zero two carried this anime and my score.

Story: 2/10
Character: 2/10
Animation: 5/10
Soundtrack: 8/10 - loved the ed songs + ost
Zero Two: 10/10
Overall: 6/10

This is just a shitty version of MSG:IBO

weird shit. they got all the iconic parts of NGE, TTGL and Eureka Seven, ground them into powder and snorted it. with 26 episodes you'd think they could've distributed the pacing more evenly.

it's impressive how they managed to make every single character annoying (except for best boy Goro) but still got you to care about what happens to them in the end.

i really liked the parallel between most of the squad leaving to fight an interplanetary war for survival and Mitsuru staying to "fight" his own "war" with becoming a father (the first one at that) and supporting another person. in some ways that's harder than what the rest went to do in space. way more interconnected with the "what it means to be human" motif that they brought up with the main couple then dropped at the end.

could've been a 9, played out like a 5. ended up a 7/10 for me.

I feel like this episode could've been paced better. It kept jumping between Hiro and Zero Two's space battle and the squad on Earth, while also implementing a lot of time skips. I'm not sure what happened to the VIRM either. Still many questions.

Definitely an enjoyable anime. It did tend to be overly melodramatic at times, but it kept me engaged and did an excellent job establishing an array of characters without spreading itself too thin on developing them. The music and animatiion was also of very high quality.

An absolutely beautiful ending for a beautiful anime. I love how it ties everything together without leaving a single thing behind, it was amazing. I'm so glad this anime has such a sappy ending. So very lovely.
