Even a stopped clock gets the right time twice a day.

Again, see my example for Lord of the Rings. Making sure the phases of the moon fit with the time lapsed is cool, but doesn't contribute anything.
Besides making it more realistic, no. It doesn't improve the quality of a work. It can be done without. We're talking about your definition of technical. My definition of technical is "according to the strict application or interpretation of the law and rules." This has been done in anime, including Kaiji. I've seen plenty of them to know it contributes credibility to a show. If an anime breaks its own rules without a convincing explanation, it goes downhill. Back to your definition, I fail to see how the technicality made LotR "boring and stupid," unless you just dislike it. LotR is one of the most incredible works of all time. J.R.R. Tolkien is a great writer (so I've heard, haven't read the books yet). Apart from some of his earlier movies, Peter Jackson does a good job adapting compositions. Have you even seen LotR? I'm talking about your experience with technicality here. That would make your argument more justifiable.

I have a far more convincing argument why the books of LOTR but it isn't the point. I'm merely explaining why technicalities and exactness of details like the phases of the moon don't really contribute anything by mere presence. They need to mean something. A complex rule system can be good for a video game, but fiction is about creating meaning.

I dislike when Plot Armor is used, but almost every Anime and Entertainment Medium in existence uses Plot Armor for its main Protagonists. So I'd have to hate everything just for having Plot Armor.

Still I appreciate when an Anime relies as little on plot armor as possible. It is fine to put the character into a dangerous situation that the character has a 50% chance of failing rather than a 99% chance of failing. Because 50/50 probability of surviving is far more acceptable than 99% chance of failure because that 99% or 1 in a million chance which breaks the willing suspension of disbelief even if it is more suspenseful.

If a character actually "dies" they should stay dead though. Anything that kills the Heart or Brain on a Normal Living lifeform should actually kill them (And it is confirmed that they actually did get damaged in those areas). Because it is just magic if the character "Heals" those organs, especially if there is no magic in that particular Anime. If it punctures the Lung/Arm or any other body part, then Plot Armor is acceptable.

But people survive dangerous situations all the time. Look at all those war survivors. I know a story about a guy who tried to shoot himself and the gun didn't budge. It's a one in a million chance.

How should the author decide whether the character dies or not?

No, or I'll be watching stuff like Chess games or stuff. Be it fate or chance, things don't really work perfectly fair in real life most of the time either, and that would be boring anyways.
