Oh dude I absolutely love sweet home on the NES, it was such a head of its time but had a pretty steep learning curve to it. I did enjoy every minute of it though, nice to see where the roots began. Yes Resident Evil one on the GameCube was awesome, I remember we were so blown away by its graphics back in the day. Definitely had the mood just right, especially with that shark!

Well see my problem is is that that's very rarely the case as far as them using money to make a new entries in the series. If it happened more often than I would be all for it. There are so many titles out there that keep getting new ports, but I would love to see a brand new entry. For instance Capcom is finally starting to acknowledge darkstalkers, rival schools and Power Stone again. The collections they released were awesome, so I'm hoping we might see a sequel to these games even though I got a feeling it won't happen. Fingers crossed though! Have you played any of these?

So unfortunately I've only been able to play a demo of the game at Gamestop since I don't own any platform that is currently on, and my PC is really struggling to stay alive these days. Hahaha! I did enjoy Silent Hill f a lot though. I was so glad that we were getting a new entry in the series, maybe you did have a point there and the Silent Hill 2 remake help generate income for f.

Well I'll be honest with you here man, personally I'm not really a huge fan of remakes and remasters. I don't know, honestly I long for the days when we used to get new entries and some of our favorite series, and now it seems like many of them are either long since abandoned, or just remade or remastered with a fresh coat of paint. For instance I'm a huge Fatal Frame fan as I mentioned in the past, and we haven't gotten a new entry in the series since the Wii U days. I know everybody gets excited for these remakes, but personally I would like to see completely brand new entries. What do you think? 🤔

As far as retro gaming goes, yes I actually do have a small CRT TV that's around 13 inches that I still play games on. It's the only CRT TV I have left that's working. I do have another one that's around 26 in, but the screen is all messed up. 😭

Hi Felix, good luck on your journey to become the ultimate weeb.
I'm on a similar journey myself for manga, I want to get to 100 completed. Looks like you like those older 80's series.
General Blue is also a favorite of mine from the original Dragon Ball arcs. Strange what they did with him in the anime..

Hey sounds like an awesome New Year's resolution to me man, I hope you were able to accomplish it and more during 2026! 😁 Nothing this year for me, since I very rarely keep my New Year's resolutions anyway. Maybe to beat more video games in 2026.

Hey speaking of which, are there any video games you've been looking forward to, modern or retro to pick up?

happy new year

Happy New Year 2026! May this year bring you plenty more anime to watch. Got any New Year's resolutions buddy? 🥳

I couldn't agree with you more man! I think that's my problem with a lot of the remakes that come out these days. They are trying to cater more to a mainstream modern audience, and because of that they all tend to kind of play and look the same these days. Fatal Frame for instance is one of my all-time favorite horror series, and the way the newest ones that were remade play like our very handholding, they basically tell you okay go here and go there. Fatal Frame 5 was the worst, in that one not only did it hold your hand, but it also gave you all the health items you needed in every mission preset for you. I mean, at that point it kind of takes the horror out of survival horror in my opinion. I prefer much better to manage my health items. Made it more scary that way.

Oh nice! I assume you have a really good view up there? As for me it's pretty boring. We just stay home and watch the ball drop on TV, that's it. XD Sadly there are just too many drunk drivers out on New Year's Eve here in my state. 😫
Retro8bit Dec 30, 2025 8:54 PM
I did yes, and honestly it feels a bit watered down to me. Plus it has a lot of hand holding moments telling you exactly where to go, not to mention being padded out a lot with enemy encounters that weren't in the original. Also I didn't really like the character updates, everybody look like their face was kind of melting. 🤣 I understand how you feel when it comes to hating Konami. I'm a huge Castlevania fan and they haven't done anything proper with the series beyond collections, and gambling machines. 🤣

Oh by the way you got any plans for a New Year's buddy?

So I should mention real quick that Illbleed technically isn't a good game. It definitely has its problems, the controls can be a bit on the clunky side and the health Management is overly complicated. However it's narrative and overall experience is something I've never seen in a video video game even to this day. It plays out like a cheesy b horror movie. Here's an example with its opening cutscene:

Oh yeah Silent Hill 3 is excellent! I just finished playing it not too long ago back in October, it's kind of become a tradition for me. Have you played the new Silent Hill 2 remake?
Retro8bit Dec 27, 2025 5:47 PM
Hmmm well if you like such fighting games like Super Smash Brothers and Power Stone, you may like ape Escape pumped and primed. It plays sort of like an arena fighter and it's pretty solid for what it is. So I wouldn't say it's quite as good as the latter games.

Oh nice! Yes there's been a lot of Dreamcast fan translations that have happened over the years. The one I was probably most excited for was Napple Tale and Seven Mansions. As for my favorite Dreamcast game? That would probably go to Illbleed. My all-time favorite horror game ever. Have you ever played it?
Retro8bit Dec 22, 2025 8:38 PM
Oh I know the struggle, there are so many great Ape Escape games it's hard to choose a favorite. Not to mention if you take into consideration all of the spin-off games there are. Have you played any of them by the way? As for my favorite era in gaming, yes I really do love the 8-Bit generation since it's where I first started gaming at, though I actually do have a lot of fun this for the 6th generation of gaming. Consoles like the Dreamcast and PS2 had such a strong library, and developers really loved to experiment with new ideas back then. Which is your favorite generation buddy? 🤔
Retro8bit Dec 21, 2025 5:03 PM
Hey there man, thank you very much for the friend request, it's nice to meet you. Hope to be good buddies on here! Oh my gosh I love your profile pic, I recently just finished Ape Escape 3 on the PS2 a couple of months ago. Never even knew it existed. Probably my favorite in the series.

Which is your favorite entry? :)
