This sounds really interesting, too. I'm gonna watch this also! Hmm.. I should ask recommendations more often if it results finding out great series you've never heard of before and likely wouldn't have found out by yourself. :)

I'm not going to do this. I already watched more than 40 for the year, but I don't remember which ones - so it'll be a pain in the ass to find and allocate them to the challenge.

I would've considered participating if this was posted at the beginning of the year.
You can always start now and watch 40 more. Note that people are writing on the sign up which day they're "starting" -- if they're including entries from Jan 1 or only when they sign up.

1. If it started in 2015, yes. In other words everything except Tsukimonogatari counts.

2. Yes.

2. (?) If you started watching it in 2015, yes.

I'm used doing reading challenges in Goodreadsw, but never an anime one. Why didn't anyone make one of this before? Anyway, this will probably actually take the rest of the year. So busy right now.

This looks like fun and should make 2015 even more interesting. I already have about half of the challenges filled out just from what I've seen since January so I should be able to complete it before December.

I got 'Precursor Killers' as the random trope, but it had no anime listed so I had to get a different trope. Got 'Laser Hallway' the second time, so it looks like I'll be watching 009-1 at some point. I might actually buy that on DVD, it's fairly cheap.

I could use a recommendation if someone has a spare minute. Something fairly obscure (but easily available online) would be appreciated.

A lot of sports anime, like Haikyuu or Free. I would also reccommend Love Lab, Non Non Biyori, and Selector Infected Wixoss.

Something I'm watching right now, Donten ni Warau, just came out recently but it hardly got any attention. In my opinion, it's extremely underrated.

That trope-site was super fun to explore.
First I get something that didn't have any animes listed, but the second one was Berserk Button and there was so many to choose from. I ended up chosing to list DRRR in this, because I can't imagine more perfect example for a berserk button than a certain brute named Shizuo.

Oh ikr, I got the trope Demythification which only had Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari as anime example listed. I never heard of it but it looks cool and got pretty good reviews, so I'll give it a shot soon.

Yes, that was my point :) It's a serious short series, but it's considered very very bad.

I think most short series are typically comedies or more slice of life style series. While Tentai Senshi Sunred isn't serious, it's a different style of comedy, should definitely have action, and perhaps might interest you more? Maybe have a look at Cromartie High School as well.

Note: I didn't watch either myself, was just hunting around a bit.

I have and neither really includes action (even one of the main points of Sunred is how overpowered the main character is compared to the monsters he "fights"). If you wanted an action/comedy short series, you might do better with Sexy Commando Gaiden.

As for short non-comedy series, you could try with Yami Shibai (no action though).

Senyuu might also be a good bet. It is a comedy, but it has some surprisingly serious moments too (I think that's more in the second season and unadapted parts of the source material though)

I think that's up to you, based on how liberal you want to be with the meaning of professional. Like, you could say Akame ga Kill because being assassins is their profession, but other people might disagree.
