I cried like a baby. I never thought Ai's death would be so sad vs the manga. Seeing her animated as well as Ruby and Aqua, makes me so happy. I can't wait for everyone to enjoy this journey <3

Am I the only one who felt reminded of Urobutcher's offing of Mami in Madoka ep3?

I remember how shellshocked I was when I read the corresponding manga chapter...

The animation, voice acting, and overall execution of it all was perfect. It didn’t try to stray away from the manga, and it executed every scene to perfection; especially the part where Ai held Aqua in her hands following the stabbing. I think this is as close as you can get to a perfect first episode.

I hadn't read the manga and I had zero spoilers, I had just seen that the manga had a great score here on MAL so I decided to try the first episode. I usually hate idol shows so I had low expectations, but Doga Kobo is a good studio so I was interested for sure. First episode blew me away, what a journey! So many emotions packed into one episode. The ending was legitimately tragic too, like IDK how the fuck they made me cry on the first episode but they did. I can just tell this is going to be amazing.

I never imagined how captivating and emotional this first episode could be. The execution of conveying so much story from the manga into an introduction so well-balanced and palatable like this one is beyond perfection. I'm just so happy, and frankly impressed, of the quality I've just witnessed. Oshi no ko manga is one of my favorites, but I might say the anime could be even better.

Considering how hard it usually is for me to watch movies and movie-length episodes due to a poor attention span combined with the fact that I've already read the manga, it's insane how entertaining this prologue managed to be. I do like seeing stories I've already gone through once be brought to life on screen: there's just something about seeing the events from a new light and managing to catch on cues you didn't have time to pick up the first time around, but this one was just a whole new experience in general. There's so much good foreshadowing as things fall into place, piece by piece, all brought together by phenomenal visuals, stellar sound design (B-Komachi songs were absolute bangers btw!!! straight feedback from your certified idol fanatic truly) and a great cast. Even though I think some of the more minor plot twists, such as the reveal of Ruby's true identity, could have used a bit slower of a pacing to let the viewer truly digest what they're witnessing, I can only imagine what a treat this so far splendid adaptation is going to be for the anime-onlies – can't wait for next episode. Astonishing job from Doga Kobo!!

I actually cried at the end, even though I read the first volume.
The anime so far made me care more about the characters than de manga did.
Can't wait for the next episode! (since vol 2 isn't physically out yet here... and for the first time ever I avoided spoilers)

This... THIS is how you do a fucking AMAZING first episode. Laughter and tears simultaneously came out of my body while watching this. I had read the first volume, so I knew what was going to happen, I just didn't expect to cry that hard. I am officially dropping the manga to watch the anime. It's too well animated to read ahead. Maybe after the anime is over I'll revisit the manga, but from this point until at least the end of this season, I'm anime only.

There was a lot of hype for this anime, and now I'm not surprised, this was freaking amazing.

Didn't expect Ai to die so young, but the time-skip makes for a great potential in the story. I loved Aqua's creepy vibes the most!

Watching anime for the first time? Anime always mixed comedy into very serious shows and it works. Stuff thats depressing for 100% of the airtime in unwatchable.

To be honest the only reason I decided to watch it becasue I really like the style of the anime on promotional materials. I was like "meh, I'm not really interested in idols or anything related to that but I can enjoy a good piece of art so let's give it a try".

As the episode goes I had to realise it's another reincarnation anime which kind of sort of turn me off cuz there is just way too much of these. As I said I'm not into the idol culture and due to my geographical location and local culture this never had any impact on my life so I couldn't really relate with the protagonist. However I could relate to Ai's struggles in some way. I really liked how her character was slowly built up as someone who lies and hopes that her lies will become reality one day. Her relationship with her work and children was also interesting. I'm a very emotional person so when I saw her sitting in a pool of her own blood while realising that finally she could love someone honestly really got me crying.

I would love to talk about other things than Ai but for me her story was really all that mattered. Yes, Ruby and Aqua were fun to watch as they get used to their new life as the children of the Idol they once cherised. I liked how they were the lens through we saw how the idol life impact of the people around these idols. It was interesting to see how that industry worked. I can't wait for next week's episode to see what's gonna happen.

Well, I wasn't on the hype train for this, and wasn't expecting anything particularly great either, but I guess the hype is real now. Pretty good premiere and a very solid prologue; exemplary storytelling, very interesting premise, good execution so far. The person responsible for making this a 90 minutes episode definitely knows what they're doing, it's good to see an interesting story getting adapted by a capable team, and while I haven't read the manga I believe this is pretty good, definitely the best episode of the season, and I guess with Skip to Loafer and Oshi no Ko this is now a pretty good season. Well, let's see, I believe this could be a solid 7/10 or even a 8/10, hopefully it will continue with this top quality.

There were few little things i didn't like like kids unique eye which is bigger than another. I totally liked the story (prologue) if it isn't a mastepiece it is at least very good. So far i think it is the best itle of the season. I hope the quality won't drop. Actually i kind of felt it was long didn't expect it to be so long, i was so engrossed that I didn't notice how time flew by.

I really don't think I dig the narrative going on here, it just feels like they're trying to explicitly make fun of idol fanatics, because otherwise this first episode would have been a full fucking 10/10.

I cried my hardest, and I am EXTREMELY interested to see where they take this. Please just lay off the super cheesy narratives.
