| Kamo Sadaharu, hahahahahahahahaha! Best side character ever. He’s absolutely amazing. He made me laugh so hard. He’s so dedicated—he’d do anything for the protagonist! Hahahahahahahahahaha! He even wore a dress for him. Oh my God, he’s legendary! 10/10. Did he make a reference to my favorite anime, Detective Conan?? He’s a great man—my respect for him just shot up. The scene after the ending—hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Kamo Sadaharu, what are you doing?! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! This character kills me! I can’t believe how funny he is. This was Kamo’s episode for sure. But there was also another great moment—when Watanabe wore Jirou’s clothes. That scene was truly beautiful. Even though I said this would be the last episode and I’d go to bed… it’s going to be episode five now. You get what I mean, right? I have a lot of work tomorrow, but who cares—let work go to hell! | Fourth episode down! This was my favorite episode so far! First off I'd like to start with a point I've been meaning to highlight in my previous posts. My big ole brain though just can't remember everything, big sad. Anyways, I am fawning over the random changes in art-style and animation for some of the comedic bits. They really assist in delivering the jokes. For example, the switch to incredible action-packed fantasy fight scene at the beginning to hammer home how amazing Yakuin believes Minami to be in comparison to himself was awesome. The fucking Looney-Tunes yelp he did at the end made it even better. Easily my favorite bit of the show so far. Regardless of the joke though I love that the animators take the extra time to accomplish this, it gives the series a great amount of charm for such small moments. I also wanna give a huge shoutout to another of the English voicework cast, that being Watanabe's voice actress Lindsay Sheppard. I love how Lindsay is able to give Watanabe the snappiness and sassiness of her loud and proud personality but also deliver on the delicate, fragile and soft moments of Watanabe's character. It shows a great amount of versatility and I would love to hear more of her work. Sadaharu really gives this show some funny moments with the crazy bits and dialogue that spew from his yapper. I also like that Yakuin realizes Sadaharu is an idiot after chatting with Watanabe about the scene in the gym closet, it shows the depth of Yakuin's character here in being able to put that amount of trust in Watanabe over Sadaharu. I also love the callback to the funeral bit of earlier. My favorite lines from the English dub of this episode: "You don't understand what I saw... Ugh, nevermind... I shouldn't gossip since he was kind enough to know my name... Plus he smells like my hopes and dreams..." "I WILL SEND HIM TO HIS GRAVE!!!!" "DAH! SAVE ME! Didn't know I was into that but HERE WE ARE! "THE SIREN SINGS HER SNUGGLY SONG!" "Begone foul spirits, leave me and my little man alone" Finally, in regard to the plot of this episode, I love that by the end of the episode we see that Yakuin is learning how to read a person's mental state/emotions with that scene involving Watanabe crying about the situation with Minami. I also love that Watanabe just laughs at Yakuin for being stupid about the supposed "kiss" instead of getting angry or obtuse and driving up more drama. The last few scenes of this episode were really sweet, cheerful, and funny. My favorite portion of the episode was the reveal Watanabe gave Yakuin that he gave her her first kiss. His reaction was very fun. Despite the simplicity of the episode, this one ended up being my favorite one so far. Looking forward to more! |
