Aldnoah Zero

First 12 episodes nailed the sense of desperation. Show's setting is very cool, with a feudal empire stranded in orbit that possesses extraordinarily powerful and gorgeous mechas desinged by I-IV. It feels somewhat mecha-warriorish, with the mechs being used a family swords to enforce a medieval society. The red French noblemen coats are also great. In fact, the Martians themselves are half the reason why the show has been stuck in my mind for the past four years, and we didn't even see Mars. Episode 12's ending was amazing, and I still thoroughly enjoyed season 2. Countess Orlaine has 30 seconds of screen time and is one of my favorite characters. Orlaine x Saazbaum FTW!

Sword Art Online. VERY FAR from perfect, but I was approached to it with low expectations and enjoyed it more than I expected, and this is coming from someone who saw FMA Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, and half of Hunter x Hunter before it.

Gravitation. First show I read the manga for before watching. First one I watched in Japanese. It has some olden days Studio Deen issues... XD

Digimon Fusion and all of the other anime I saw on kids' programming count due to nostalgic value.

Aside from that, I've got the Full Metal Panic! series, which is cheesy sometimes, but in a way I can only find endearing. There's Princess Nine, in which I love the characters, but the story quality dips toward the end. Witchblade is awesome, but the ending sucked. I really like Gasaraki for some reason. JoJo isn't perfect but it's gureato. And Kemono Friends is a masterpiece of meta-modern art.

Dang, I was going to say this. First shounenai I ever watched, and adored. Looking back it's so rough around the edges. If I had to pick another it would be Himouto Umaru-Chan!

Shichisei no Subaru, the first half was flawless to me. Shame it ended the way it did.

Probably Haibane Renmei. Not a popular anime, imo, but it’s amazing

Its in my top 5
Yeah the animation was pretty lame (bcs it's Perrot lol) and maybe it has various fillers or "unconsistent" episodes but i loved it.Now i started to read the manga.

Haha probably Corpse Party.
Contributed to my childhood scarring. We sort of have a love/hate relationship.
But currently I have been wanting to play the games, I bought the first one on a Steam sale.
Haven't played it yet, but from what I heard the anime poorly executed the games. Nevertheless the story they were trying to tell was fascinating to me.

Scrapped princess

By the end it felt like it missed episodes, lacked lots of explanations and a lot of convenient things happened, but it is still one of my favorite anime.

Getter Robo Armageddon, it's a nonsensical mess of a show, but the animation's great and the English dub is the best kind of terrible.

Probably Shokugeki no Souma— keeping in mind I’ve only seen the first two seasons. It’s just ridiculously fun. I consider the series to be above average, but I probably enjoy it a whole lot more than the majority of my 7’s.

Wow, someone actually mentioned something semi-obscure. I applaud.

It’s not a fav in my case, but Scrapped Princess was definitely an alright show. I still lament that I watched it before I knew how to appreciate sakuga like this.

Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, Kaitou Saint Tail and Captain Tsubasa. My childhood memories. Even today i still follow Pokemon, YGO, Boruto and plan on following Captain Tusbasa as well once again (i plan on rewatching everything, and then following the current season). While not being masterpieces themselves, i'm still following these anime because of the great respect i have towards them.

Definitely Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.
A story about child innocency accidentally causing the family to part ways and the mc to develop really severe anxiety because of her childhood.
It's not the best and there's so many things that I didn't like about the story but it'll always stick with me, I really felt it.

It's better this way.
A little lonelier,
but better.

It wasn't well received because it's rotoscoped. The manga readers were just pissed off that their yandere waifu didn't look like the manga's.
I don't blame them. She almost resembled a real person.

The horror.

Yes, almost. Real people don't look like a freaky cross between reality and cartoon. It's one of the worst examples of uncanny valley I've ever seen. So I can see why people don't really like the artstyle.
You can animate using rotoscope and still make female characters look decent, and not doughy faced dudes in drag.

The main characters in Aku no Hana look like and are as well drawn as some of the background characters from Hana to Alice. The faces are just too flat and featureless.

Probably have to go with Gurren Lagann. This was probably the first anime that got me into watching anime several years back(outside of anime as a teen) and I thought it to be the greatest anime ever and if you ask me my favorite anime, it would probably take the cake.

But I refuse to watch it again. Only because I have seen so many anime since then and I know that my feelings on how great the anime was, will change and it will no longer be top for me. Even now, I feel like Kill La Kill is much better when I compare the two.
