Yes, it happens every now and then. Though i tend to look on profile info more than the avatar because it seems that a lot of guys use girl avatars.

I actually don't go by the pictures a particular user uses to determine gender. Actually I usually don't care to determine gender most of the time...though I will accept at face value what is posted on their profile if they say they're a man or woman...but for the most part I don't care.

How I do tell is usually through what's written. Believe it or not, women and men in general have different writing styles. So judging based upon that I can usually tell a man from a woman.

I wonder, can anyone determine my gender through my words here and the profile picture I have and avatar and forum signature I have? Don't look at what I have posted on my profile beyond the picture or you'll have cheated and lose =P.

When I first started using anime related forums or whatever, I always thought it was weird when guys used pictures of girls as avatars, because it always would confuse me. Then after a while I got used to it, and I started using avatars with female anime characters as well. Though, right now... I /think/ my current avatar is a melon pirate, I always browse in worksafe mode so I do not know what anyones avatar or sig looks like.

Lmao, yeah that EXACT thing happens to me all the time, especially the last part. :D
Except for the girls with sexy dudes on their avatar, I usually think they are girls, unless it is a gay guy or something. O_o Unless it's an anime character guy maybe.. or bishounen like you said.
It all depends on the picture really.

People mistake me for a guy a lot, I guess my username doesn't sound very girl-ish. :DDD

It saddens me when people change their avatar, unless they have a unique name that I can remember them by. T_T

My gender gets mistaken much more often than I mistake others' genders. >_<;
