MSE is the best anti virus for me.

But if you're an advance user imo you only need to be careful with surfing the web and update windows when possible.

MSE is inbuilt in Windows 8 and called Windows Defender, so I'm using that.

Avast here, Norton's a clog on your resources and there are other AVs which do the same for less.

AVG Anti-Virus 2012. It's pretty good, but it often sees harmless files as viruses, which is pretty annoying.

Am not using any, because the free ones are lame and I don't bother paying for any of these kinds of programs.
And still, although I visit very many different webs, besides 3 trojans, hadn't had any major viruses in my PC during the 6 years I have it.

As you can see by the votes, you SHOULD be using Avast.

I use Avast because the person that maintains my electronics TOLD me to use Avast.

The smart person uses what computer repair geeks use.

Norton is shit that comes free with computers for a reason, it's fucking crap. If you are using it, you either have my sympathies, or my scorn take your pick.

The first thing that goes when I get new computers is anything Norton and or Mcaffee.

Norton, telling the whole world you also likely take your computer to a place like Staples if something goes wrong. Which is the same as stating you are clueless.

None >_<!! As long as you're just keeping away from untrusted sites you'll be fine *-*

I've used Windows 7 ever since it came out and I've never used an Anti Virus.
I think it slows down the computer and can be pwtty annoying >_<!

The built in protections of Windows 7 (Essentials) are actually not too bad actually).

Never thought I would be able to say Windows was any good at that :)

I'm on a Mac, so none.

Edit: Even if I were on Windows, I wouldn't use any either. The built-in protection on Windows 7 is decent enough. I'm usually pretty careful, but if I do happen to get a stray virus, it's annoying but I just get rid of it.

Edit: I haven't encountered a truly malicious virus, generally they have to do with some kind of advertising scam.
My apologies, children, for I am afraid I cannot save you all.

My computer came with just MSE, and then it got virus'd about 4 months later.
I can get Kaspersky for free, so that's what I use.
Haven't had a problem since.

Comodo for my main rig since it's running pirate W7 and the Microsoft security essentials for my laptop with the legit W7.
Both have been working great so far. I've also tried Avast but it let through a couple at some point, so I though I might as well try a different one the next time around.

At first i used McAfee which failed me.

Then i switched to Norton and it always saved my ass.

Then i switched because i didnt want to cough up money and used freeware, AVG + AdAware + ZoneAlarm + Advanced System Care(clean up)
AVG and AdAware failed me and didnt catch a virus and zonealarm i used just for a firewall. I coughed up money and switched back to Norton360 and it caught the virus which was messing with my computer. I think AdAware and ZoneAlarm wasnt compatible, not sure if both or 1, but i got rid of both of them. Eventually dumped AVG as it seemed inferior and Norton seemed to override it at times and gave me warning popups etc. I couldnt temp turn off AVG also which was annoying. AVG also had that buy now ad nonsense which was a little annoying also.

So now its just Norton360 and Advanced System Care. The money really is worth it. If i wasnt gonna choose Norton, i would probably try out Kasperspy or Bitdefender.

Here's a website that does tests and scores on those big name AntiVirus/Spyware/Malware/Etc software.

NEETs (No Employment Education Training) are the least desirable people anybody would want to hire and yet they are the first choice to become moderators/admins around the internet. They have yet to have established a sense of responsibility or role in society and many are plain leeches (with minor exceptions). They are given "authority" to police sections of the internet with the powers of The Judge, Jury, and Executioner. Isn't that weird?

Some shit called Titanium that came with my laptop.

Before that I used AVG free version and Malywarebytes.

I'm a lot smarter now though and know all the legit porn sites so I don't have to worry about viruses anymore.

I don't really use an anti virus unless I have a problem. But I do take a good precaution putting no script my browser. Keeps you from getting click hijacked and and silly things like that. Something so small really feels like it helps if your going to unknown places of the web.

Anyone remember miss spelling google and getting screwed over by what I believe was java years back?

Try ZenOK Free Antivirus. I did months ago and never looked back. They have a free version for non comerical uses. No anti virus package is perfect, but I found ZenOKhas constantly picked up stuff that other paid software has not detected, even stuff Kaspersky has missed.
