If you were forced to choose only one of the two, which one would it be? Music or anime? And depending on the answer, every memory of either music you've heard/anime you've seen would be removed from your brains.

Explain your choice.

I can start. I would choose music. There is a possibility that I will some day get tired of anime. On the other hand I don't think I could ever stop listening to music except If I were to become deaf. But the chance of me getting tired of anime is still bigger than becoming deaf so that's a risk I'd be willing to take.

Would anime music stop being a thing also?

Either way, I'd definitely pick music due to the same reasons as you.

anime without music would be boring, and there simply is no substitute for music.

I'm quite a bit more invested in music. I've got more in common with the music nerds and/or the musicians that I know than the typical anime fans, to be honest.

Music, anime is hard to enjoy on the go. Anime enjoyment is maximized if you are truly immersed, which is significantly harder to be in than music.

Nietzsche once said life without music could be just a mistake. XD Never agreed more. Then, since I was a little kid I've always had a huge imagination. So, when I first introduced to the world of anime/movies it was just like what I read in the books and what my imagination produced at the time has taken life. But, while my imagination can still function as a replacement for anime/movies, this can't happen for music. So, I'll pick music, without hesitation.

I'd also like to add that without music there'd be no anime openings. As someone else said in another thread, openings are the anime equivalent of ketchup on hamburgers.

Anime would be pretty without music. I don't mean just the opening and ending themes, sometimes the film score can make a scene have more emotion and can make simple moment memorable and sometimes makes boring moments at least a bit bearable. It usually won't make a scene or make the plot good or bad though, just contributes to the overall enjoyment for a series.

That's just my view, not a fact.

I could quit anime if I still have manga, VNs, and LNs but I would rather quit music. Music by itself doesn't do much for me.

I'd choose anime. If you'd asked me a few years ago it would have been a hard decision but to be honest I hardly listen to music any more, I pretty much just use it for background nose while I'm doing something else these days.

If it were a choice between giving up music and almost any other form of entertainment media I'd go for music.

I'd go for music. I start and end my day with it. In fact, I get all fidgety when I don't have my iPod around me.

I haven't been watching anime a lot because I'm busy with school. So, I've learnt to live without it. But, I can't do without music.

Music is one of the spices of life, I couldn't live without it. Ever since I was little music has always interested me. I love to sing and listen to songs. That said, anime is really enjoyable for me too, but it's just not as much as music is.

obviously music is more universal and enjoyable in a different way. i don't think anime/movies/tv swould be very good if it didn't incorporate the sound of music so ummm...i don't understand the question still really because i can't imagine aime with out the other.

I want my animu man. I'm not a big music person. I do listen to my iPod regularly, but I get bored of most of my favourite songs pretty fast and it's more just something I have on rather than something I'm doing to enjoy myself.

I feel like music is a big part of anime but not vice versa.
There's two kinds of people you can't win an argument against:
One - Too dumb to tell right from wrong.
Two - Too stubborn to admit they are wrong.

I pick music because music explains feelings and thoughts as well as love that every one shares. But I don't know why every one is saying this like "fuck anime and screw anime" unless they don't watch regulary. (even if they didn't watch I don't know why those people are even on My anime list)
For the people that just dissed anime...stop using this site and find some other site...something like My music list .

What makes an Anime great? I believe music factors into Anime, and a large portion of it. Whether I like an anime or not depends on how well the BGM fits into the background, or even the OP and ED.

In fact, the problem with this question is that Music is a factor in everyday life, Anime is not--unless you're an anime otaku who's never paid any attention to music (which is impossible), but even that there are music otakus.

Music plays a role in everything, from the sounds on the street to the sounds of a violoncello reverberating off of sound boards in an auditorium. But then again, I don't need to say all this since it is common sense :3

Undoubtedly, music. Without a heartbeat, music takes over my desires for Anime or Manga.
I stand with Freedom, no matter the cost, no matter the price.

That's an interesting question, because isn't there an anime about a lack of music? AKB0048 First Stage, if I remember correctly. For those of you who don't know what the plot is about, basically, it's a group of girls who decide to sing songs in opposition to the tight regulations, even censorship of music on some planets. I haven't watched the series myself, but from what I've seen and heard of it, it looks like music is represented as something that truly brings people together.

Music has been here since the dawn of time. Everywhere we go, there's a form of music. Birdsong. The radios from passing cars. Maybe, some people could even consider the clanging of pots and pans to be music. I think a world without music would be terribly lonely. It's a way for people to express themselves and has a much more deeply-rooted place in our world than anime. Though I most certainly appreciate anime, quite often, as many others have stated, good music is what makes an anime that much better when compared to others.

Anime is irrevocably tied to music, but music does not have to possess any relation to anime because it is an independent entity, one that unifies people and can be a wonderful catharsis for any emotions.

Not everyone watches anime, but virtually everyone has heard music at some point, or listens to it. Talking about music is a way for people to socialize; even if they have different tastes in music, there will be something for discussion, whereas if you try to talk about anime with somebody who's never watched it, that might be much more difficult.
