I saw first episode and i was not impressed, what makes this manga/anime good? so far it's generic and trash.I have seen loads of animes in my life time. And this is just not it. People get hyped for absolute garbage these days, low tier trash.

I partially agree. I wasn't impressed either and the story follows a classic shonen-like development but it wasn't bad, you don't have to ragebait this hard lol. At least, the world it takes place seems interesting enough and production-wise... c'mon, it's Bones (even tho the CGI looks a bit off). Also being generic is not bad per se, you should wait until the plot is set and then criticize

I will admit the irony of calling trash an anime about literall trash is hilarious xD

That said, i started with the manga, and although the first chapter has far from the best storytelling (actually what is covered in ep. 1 and is vastly improved upon), the story's quality picks up very quickly and the manga artwork is incredible

So far it seems like we'll be getting a great adaptation with top tier studio Bones animation, just wish they used a bit less CGI as the OG art really deserves the best of the best

But if it's not your cup of tea fair enough, everyone has different taste ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fun fact gachiakuta means “trash”
So you are right. It’s literally trash 🤭

Jokes on you. That’s a compliment.

I've seen hundreds of anime in my life and so far this just seems like your average anime. Nothing too bad, nothing too special.

I think it's too early to determine whether or not it's worth the watch. Do I think it deserves the rating it's currently sitting at? No. It's probably just early hype by the fans. Let the show simmer, the ratings will drop.

It does feel average at the moment, but I'm hopeful. It was nice to see a series not full of "I believe in you" tropes. MC stumbled upon the worst scenario and the one other person he believed in immediately dropped their facade, too. It at least seems more interesting than most basic shounen action anime. Might not be groundbreaking, but I'm interested to see where it goes.

But also, this is one episode. It isn't enough to decide what it'll be like the rest of the series.

I highly doubt it, i see the same potential in this anime as of delicious in dungeon. The story kept getting better and the rating in the end.

What’s trash is your mindset. If you don’t like it don’t watch it. People don’t need you to validate liking a show

As a manga reader pretty much from the beginning, the anime has only made the “garbage/trash” jokes even harder to recognize lol. I’m sure it’s just a little rage baiting, especially since it’s only been one episode. On the off chance that you are genuinely asking why anyone likes it, I’ll play ball and give a genuine answer. It’s a good opportunity to praise what I love about the series.

The series appealed to me right away when reading, with the theme of finding value in what others consider to be garbage. I’ve always held sentimental value over little things, and struggle to get rid of it when the time comes. I’ll sometimes see people throw something out, or give it away and think about how much it may or may not have meant to them, and how that thing has it’s own story. To see a series pretty much surround itself on that idea automatically portrayed to me and I loved it instantly.

Rudo is a great protagonist to follow because of his huge heart and how he has a similar outlook on what others consider “garbage”. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and is a very emotional, and sentimental person. On the flip side of the love he holds, he also holds a lot of rage in his heart, which makes for a very interesting dichotomy.

Even inanimate objects having their own soul is a beautiful idea, and the connection some people may have to something that others consider “trash” or “trivial” is a great premise that is worth watching. There’s also a ton of mystery throughout the series, there’s tons of things to uncover, especially introduced in the first episode. Rudo’s parents, the masked man and his intentions, what Rudo saw when falling, how he even survived said fall, the whole world under the surface and the beast we see at the end of the episode, and so much more later on.

Idrc if this was just a bait post, I just wanted to throw my love for the series out there lol

There's literally only 1 episode. It's impossible and wrong to say an anime is trash based off 1 episode that doesn't even explain anything. You clearly have no idea what it's about, yet you're acting like you know everything about it. Sounds like you just want attention, and you definitely got it.

Ep 1 was definitely a little underwhelming. Worldbuilding was solid, but an anime shouldn't rely on people watching 3 episodes to hook them. That's at least 3 weeks! You need to grab them right away, not everyone stays for all 3

How can you even judge an entire series based off of one episode? it's just a build up. If you get everything you want straight away in the first episode then surely that would make every future episode boring?

People love to say things like “I’ve seen loads of anime and this is average” and then you look at their account and they’ve seen maybe 100-200 series and barely any that would actually be considered average or bad, when you don’t watch actual average and bad series your views become warped, watch a bunch of random seasonal stuff and you’ll see what average actually looks like, this isn’t it, I’m not saying it’s crazy good but it’s well abuve average in every regard

I started speed watching and scene skipping it 3/4 in the first episode. It became predictable.

I came in here blind, and I got a "gritty" world introduction. Then middle of the story is some sort of out of place cutesy scene. I predicted the following scenes, so started putting speed x2 and fast forwarding - and I was right.

As a fan of Gachiakuta, I do have to concur that Gachiakuta starts in a slightly generic and predictable manner. Still, that doesn't mean its start was a bad one.

I personally think the story picks up over time. Although the plot never becomes anything completely unique, its use of mystery and the overall execution becomes amazing a few arcs in. Furthermore, the world definitely is unique, and coolness points are assigned. Not to mention how well the characters are written; they still feel shōnen-y, but they develop as characters much better than most other battle shōnen out there.

Overall, Gachiakuta is a battle shōnen. However, it's a really well-executed one, with things of its own to bring to the table.
