| Some people didn't like it then. Some don't like it now. Like it, Love it, or hate it, or dismiss it, it caught the imagination of a generation and beyond, tweaked up the mecha genre, took chances by exploring the philosophical, psychological, and spiritual. The characters were intentionally flawed and not always likeable, right and wrong were not clear, and the ending was . . . well . . . kind of left up to the viewer. It spawned imitators, some were good, like RahXephon, and some that were not. |

| yes, i think this is the only thing ill ever say is overratted cause of its obnoxious fans, not all of them but dear god the number of shows these guys have caused to not get the popularity they deserve is unforgivable its also overratted in a snese that the finale the show was quite literaly flipping them off and jizzing in their faces and the fans acted like this was just some deep meaning that people dont understand when in reality the writer just left in some plot holes in which fans were able to fill in the blanks |

| Well, it is a masterpiece. Where it's overrated or not, that's purely subjective. I think it's like when you read classic literature: you may or may not like it, but you cannot deny it's quality. Otherwise, why are people still talking about it? Why does it get so much attention? I believe it is the case with Evangelion. It will go down in history and will continue to be a love/hate series. But no matter how much you think it's overrated or how much you hate it, you cannot deny it's quality nor it's influence. Personnaly, no, I do not think it's overrated. |
