Tbh, this felt like the point in the series where it genuinely seemed like the only direction left was upward .. except that was a short lived hope. But yeah, will vent about that another day, as tbh, you know shit was about to hit the fan when they straight up skipped the opening and went to Maki solo-ing her entire clan. Never liked Mai, as I mean, this story intentionally wanted us to feel that way towards her, but yeah, when you see what she did for Maki here.. which helped in many ways in the long run, you just can’t hate her anymore.

Chef kiss to the OST and the superb direction this episode had. The choice to go black and white when Maki basically turned into a beyblade, and killed the NPCs as easily as it is to breathe, you just know this was a walk in the park for her. Knew they had plans with this episode but yeah, they really went a notch above. You could genuinely say that this episode barely felt like the same series anymore. When you look back at how action sequences have been handled up to this point, what we got here feels deliberately singular… like it was supposed to be for this moment and this moment alone.

Has to be the most monumental episode of this series, not just for what we witnessed from an animation standpoint, but for Maki as a character too. Hard to beat this part.

This is the pinnacle of Shouta Goshozono so far. For me, at least. Peak perfection. Pristine direction. And, as expected, what we had expected from him after he announced that he was immensely excited to adapt Maki's arc. Even in Season 1, we had already seen a glimpse of his love for the character in episode 17, and here as well, we can clearly see his love for Maki and Mai.

What a beautiful episode. Painful and sad. Mai might not have the screentime that fans might have wanted for the character, but she very heavily impacted her sister and her life going forward. Maki is my favourite character in the series, and I'm grateful that the director also loves her this much. This part was a very tough and painful read in the manga, and it was just as sad watching it here. I cried.

I have waited years for this content to be adapted, and I have no complaints whatsoever. I'm very grateful to all the staff involved in this episode, and all their hard work, making this the best episode of the series. I love both of you, Maki and Mai.

Absolute Cinema.

This compensated for the lack of action last episode. And it's especially glorious because the manga had some unfinished pages iirc. Adaptationwise 5/5

My only gripe is with the source. We've seen barely anything from units like the Kukuru or Hei throughout the series. Most Zenin clan members had so little screen time in general. This could've been even more epic if they had stronger presence.

Amidst everything happening this was the one instance where I went batshit crazy reading the chapter. Love Maki senpai and this was genuinely one of the best sequence in the series. I remember having the Zenin sisters double color page as my profile picture for a while as well.

Great episode, I loved how most of it was a visual sequence with very little dialogue. Maki sliding up to the random Zenin guy was funny

Maki this episode basically

What a badass lady.

Rip Mai, she was a great loving sister and gave her everything for maki. The studio did absoloute justice to that scene from the colors to the meloncholic ost. It just fit perfectly for the bonding and love between the two sisters.

I loved this little detail with the toji imagery. that was just chills.

Maki did absoloute justice to mai with that absoloute massacre she ensued after and Naoya just got obiliterated holy shit.

That fight was Cinema, absoloute fcking cinema. Bone crushing i might say.

Also then giving her mother the treatment she deserves and then the mother delivering that Poetic justice to Naoya with knife in the back was just peak.

"Backstabbing women who cant stand three steps back behind a man" huh naoya? Rest not in peace you 24 Frame per second Bozo. Tojis laughing at you from somewhere.

What an episode, pure justice to the manga. Kudos mappa for cooking this hard.

This was a great episode, overhyped to death though because the animation was not that great as people made it out to be.

However this is the best and last great storytelling part of JJK... And I am very happy that they gave maki justice for it. She deserves it.

Btw ost? that was meh choice. Direction though was great as always. I think they didn't do the toji scene in a good way.

Up until this episode Zen'nin Clan was doing their part for tackling Japan's population problem. So many bodies to throw at Maki.

Even though I'm not a fan of the soundtrack, (I miss the rock sounds from previous seasons), the direction was amazing. The scene with Mai's death, the scene with Toji (can we talk about THAT panel), Maki's fights—WOW, JUST WOW The clan was destroyed by what they hate: a woman without jujutsu techniques. That's the best.
Also, can we appreciate Momo and how loyal and supportive she is? She's always defended Mai, and now she even shows up to help in this situation.even if she can't do much on her own

What an absolute masterpiece of episode. This was probably the best JJK episode ever. This mini arc was already amazing in the manga, but my God they made it justice. I do wish they kept a couple iconic panels, but the whole direction was so cinematic and beautiful, I can't complain.

My GOAT Maki annihilating the Zenin clan, one of my most anticipated moments of season 3. I'm sure the fandom will appreciate this episode since it isn't an exposition dump that requires extensive reading 🤭

All jokes aside though I still can't get over the quality of this adaptation, some episodes are genuinely movie-tier. I'm glad that smug little shit Naoya got his shit pushed in, DON'T FUCK WITH FEMALE TOJI. Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who assumed that they were referencing Kill Bill, looks like those who worked on this episode know ball 🙂‍↕️

I heard Hakari's voice in the preview, another one of my GOATs. I'm so happy he has Zoro's VA, I can't wait for his official anime debut.

Early parts of the episode gave off Evangelion vibes with how they were going with the direction.
The middle part was just straight up Kill Bill.
The end was a masterclass in unique and absolutely incredible animation.

This episode reminds me of Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 and if anyone watching that anime you'll know it's a compliment.

There's only so few anime that have enough budget to deploy so many cinematic techniques like this, and Jujutsu Kaisen is luckily one of them.

Quentin Tarantino must be proud to be influence on Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, two of the hottest Japanese franchise right now.
