Basically, which anime (or manga, i guess) would you like to be made into a live action movie or drama?

Personally, I think King of Thorn, Cowboy Bebop, and Return to Labyrinth.
Anything by Naoki Urasawa would be good too :D

None. Live-action movie sucks.
Only Space Sci-fi(Terra E...,Heroic Age,Soukou no Strain, etc) would be curious to see in live action short serie format.

Half the reason I watch anime is for the animation, so I really can't think of any that I would like to see a live action adaption of. =) [/pointless post]

I'd only wish for a live-action adaptation if there was an annoying fandom I wanted to piss off. And I don't particularly hate any at the moment.

I think BECK already has a drama. Still doubt it's any good, but you have the right idea.

Cowboy Bebop would be great as long as they don't screw it up obviously.

I'm watching Baccano! right now and I can see it being a pretty damn good candidate to have a hollywood adaptation. (Scorsese should direct it :D)

Cowboy bebop would be good live action tv series, especially if it was made by the same people who made the Battle Star Galatica, Farscape, Andromeda or Stargate SG-1.

I think Jame Cameron Plans on making a Battle Angel Alita movie, he would be the perfect to make that movie due to the terminator movies he directed.

It's grounded in reality enough that it would suit Live-action well, but I don't particularly want to see a Live-action version made.

Right now I'm just dreading how the Ghost in the Shell Live-action movie is going to turn out.

Hellsing.
I'd make the preview trailer that scene where he gets shot 40,000 times and brushes himself off. He pulls out his over-sized gun, and the action halts for a moment, zooms in on his gun, and outlines the word Hellsing with the series theme music blaring. He then shoots into the screen, blacking it out.
Of course, now that we have Hellsing Ultimate, I'm not entirely sure that any live movie could compete with that. Still, it's a nice dream.

Also, I read somewhere up there that there is a live-action version of When They Cry. How the hell did they pull that off?

Anyway, my answer is none because live action movies always fuck up the anime.

My uncle was telling me they were making a Cowboy Bebop to my disdain then goes on to tell me that Keanu Reeves is in the line for Spike. I've done zero research on this but if its true I'm dead inside.

C'mon you guys, you can't just dismiss live-action anime as a bad idea and be done with it. It's good that they're starting out with ones grounded in reality like Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell; they're set-ups that will appeal to the general poulace. Granted, Keanu Reeves is a horrible choice for Spike, but that doesn't mean that the movie will be bad. And even if it is, will it really hurt the anime at all? Nobody thought less of Dragon Ball Z for Evolution. And maybe someone learned from their mistakes, and really wants to make these movies as best as they can be. And then, someday in the future, when anime is more mainstream, we can have things like a live-action Gurren Lagann movie. Wouldn't that be something? A full-blown balls out drop-down battle between entities the size of planets up on the big screen. Isn't that the dream that all anime fans live for?
So have faith my comrades that the future is bright and full of opportunity.
And at least they can't be any worse than Evolution, right?

In terms of Cowboy Bebop, GitS, and even TTGL, I doubt it would really be "live-action" anyways. Most of the scifi stuff will be in CGI, or else it'll look like crap. And with a poor budget, even CGI can look like crap. And as for actors, the lack of unique emotions that can only be displayed in anime is also a drop of, not really quality, but, I guess, the essence of the show.

Which reminds me, after seeing the GitS opening credits, I actually thought GitS was completely in CGI. Which probably would be a better idea than live-action.

Yeah, CGI will be pretty prevalent throughout the films, but it would be something along the lines of Transformers, where at least they look completely realistic. Think about mecha anime in that style--wouldn't that be awesome?
But yeah, they would be pretty expensive, but I guess that's why they're starting with the more grounded series first.
As for the expression thing, there's probably nothing we can do about it. But there are bound to be a few things lost whenever you change the medium.
And it also provides another reason not to cast Keanu as Spike--that guy only has about four emotions.

For Cowboy Bebop they need to follow the Sin City or Sky Captain format and shoot it in front of a green screen and then use a computer generated background, possibly with an anime look to it.

Also, I always thought it would be cool if they made a spoof like movie of anime where it is all school girls fighting and having their clothes ripped off. I would wait in line for the midnight showing of that.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni already has a live action movie.

I think Canaan, Tsukihime, or Kara no Kyoukai would do good :)

This is sadly the truth. You simply can't show the same amount of emotions and cool scenes as in anime. Reality is restricted. In anime everything can happen. And then I mean fucking everything.

Kara no Kyoukai, Ga-Rei-Zero, Darker than Black. (If none of these have live-action movies yet, haven't bothered looking)

A "Good" live-action of Higurashi. (I've heard that the live action currently is terrible)

Also, Baccano! live action for the "lols" (The characters will be EXTREMELY difficult to portray/act out the way they act in the anime)
Will you be able to do.... what must be done?

Live-action almost always fails in my opinion. Death Note and Jigoku Shoujo, for example, messed up the characters' appearances. It just wasn't the same as the animes. They could've at least tried harder.

It got a trilogy, too. Unfortunately, the story is so involving and complex, that it siffers from pretty severe adaptation decay.

Why do you guys think the Death Note Live sucks? -_- Personally, I really liked it, except for the actor that plays Light. ><

A couple other live actions were ok, like the dramas for Kimi wa Pet and Hana Kimi. :D The Nana movies were ok too.

I wholeheartedly agree with this.

School Rumble would make a good one; same thing with K-ON! or Ouran Host High School Club.

I mean, the live action adaption of Honey and Clover wasn't that bad..

Why would I want a live action anime?

I watch anime, not live action, these days, because I prefer it so much more. If I like an anime a lot, I'd prefer to have a sequel or prequel or alternate setting of it in its anime medium. But not a live action.
