Well maybe they were.
We never truly knew how Ciel felt about his butler and it didn't seem to bother him that he was gonna spend eternity with him, so maybe Ciel really did care for him.

kuroshitsuji is on my top ten best anime, no one can ever expect what'll happen!!!

the ending was so shocking it made my heart beats so randomly!!

RIP: claude, hannah, luka, alois!!!, im happy that alios had somewhat a happy ending!!

poor sabastian i would've felt better if he would've stuck with ciel for better or worse of his own choosing, not being forced ): ): the card that he sent was soooo damn sad "in memory of ciel" , i would've defiantly cried if any more emotion surfaced!!

Ciel is very good at shielding from people who may hurt his feelings. Yana said that unlike Alois, who wants his demon to fill the gap in his heart, Ciel never lets Sebastian enter his heart. I guess Ciel did grow affectionate to Sebastian, but he was always very aware of Sebastian's true nature, so he didn't allow himself to have feelings for him.

By rewatching episode one, the part in which Sebastian is disguised as a traveller and is sitting next to Alois, I really wonder what he would have done if he could have seen the future and discovered he was sitting beside the kid who would screw his life forever while waiting for the demon who would steal his bocchan from him to cook his dinner (oh, and then worrying about the well-being of Hannah, who would turn Ciel into a demon). I think the Trancy family would have never had an happy ending if Sebastian were to know what they were going to do at that time. He would have probably set fire to them and to the mansion straight away.

it's weird that Sebby won over Claude so fast but whatever the butler's fight was entertaining as usual xD
Was thinking of the same thing. Claude seemed highly powerful from the beginning. The fight should have been more elongated and epic.

What an epic final episode..I 'm not quite sure whether i liked it or not but it definitely surprised me..The whole ciel turning into a demon and sebastian being forced to follow him as a butler for eternity was so unexpected..It felt bittersweet. On one hand they'll be together forever and on the other, neither of them will ever find the happiness/salvation they were seeking through each other..Alois' wish was really well thought and the best revenge he could ever have..
Sadly a 3rd season is unlikely, as i see it.Despite the little "i look forward to the day when we meet again"message in the end i can't see how a 3rd season would be like.

Overal the 2nd season was definitely darker, more mysterious, with much more surprises, a bit messed up and exaggerated but i liked it more.Don't ask me why.I don't really know..

The first season is superior.

Short post, I know. But, that's all I have to say. The ending of this was terrible. I really would've liked this better if it revolved around Alois, and Claude. Y'know, what they do as the 'Queen's Spider', and whatnot. But, instead, it turned out like this.

And, yeah.

If I had read the manga first, I probably wouldn't have liked this season 2... So I'm glad I didn't. I still have something to look forward to. That being said....

This ending was fun.
The season was fun.
Almost from the start, everything went wrong, and it was interesting.

Uhh not sure what to think. Overall the story was lacking sooo much, it was kind of unnecessary. I liked Ciel as a demon, but damn... to give it a 6 or 7 im not sure now...first season was sooooo much better for me

One of the best moments of the episode was when Ciel and Alois were back to back and:

Alois: It's laughable, isn't it? Two grown men going at it desperately.
Ciel: *scandalized* Alois!

Ciel caught the double meaning too, LOL XD

This episode was highly unsatisfying - like getting a stiff black tea when you're feeling for something mellow like barley tea.

I'm disappointed with the second season as a whole. It played out as more of a fanfiction than anything else. It was humerous and there were some interesting parts, but it lacked the same finesse as the first season.

Thank god the nightmare Kuroshitsuji II is over. Horrible cliched plot, horrible execution. The first episode of Kuroshitsuji II was GODLY. That's a given, and rightfully so.The subsequent episodes had them failing terribly with rubbish popping up like mushrooms. Episode 2-12 was plain rubbish. Season 1 was great since the idea was unique but the uniqueness died halfway through season 1 thanks to their itchy hands. If they had followed the manga plot, it would have been tremendously better.
Doubt Doubt.

true but u gotta keep in mind that this season wasn't supposed to happen....
but it was made due to the bunch of fan mail yana was receiving. and for something that was thrown together & w/a limited amount of eps, it was pretty good & nicely done. it started out messed up, cleared some of the mess & ended open-ended.
season one was definitely better in terms of story & some character development, but i'd say that season two did much better w/character development (especially with the new characters & ciel at the end).....although i wish they could've done more eps w/the trancy household cause they were supposed to be the main characters & they just all died in the end.....ugh we just got to know them T^T
and it was a lil too fast paced for a story line but they only had 12 eps to introduce, explain & conclude.
it was a very bittersweet ending.....bittersweet.....=.='
ah well at least everyone got what they wanted.....even if it made them happy or not ^^'

After the disappointment that ep11 was to me, the ending saved the series. Although I've never been a fan of Alois and Claude, I like how the whole Trancy team ended up reunited and happy. On the other hand, I'm not really sure what to think about the resolving of the Ciel/Sebastian thread... I'm kind of sorry for Sebastian, he got deprived of his demon's pride by getting stuck with serving another demon and he lost his chance to consume Ciel's soul forever. But then again, I love the thought of Sebby and Ciel spending the whole eternity together :D I'm only wondering where did Ciel set off to and what place was that field of roses...
Anyway, I'm glad that the manga is still around and that it's plot is totally different. I'm not exactly satisfied with this season of the anime, though it was still worth watching :)

WTF!? WAH!? WHAT!? THE HELL!? GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!!

Okay. Officially I think this ending is a load of B.S. D:<
I figured they were going to punk us again, like at the very end they would be all "Haha! Gotcha! 12 more eps starting next week! :D" BUT NO. WTF. Way to crush my hopes and dreams in 23 minutes of video. ;_;

-Claude's death was so sentimental, even Sebby looked sad, that got to me. I spent half of season 2 hating Claude, but at the end I felt so bad for him. NOT FAIR.
-Alois got his happy ending, but why couldn't he of just stayed dead? He decided instead of getting eaten by Hannah that instead he would screw over Sebby and Ciel. I don't like that little jerk anymore. D:<
-The boxes with "In memory of Ciel Phantomhive" almost made me bawl, I thought Sebastian was taking Ciel on the carriage to kill him in the flower field. Now he has to serve Ciel forever, that's a horrible way to end things. D:<

In retrospect, I don't think they'll be making a third season. Unless they really did troll us on the ending, but it's so hard to tell. Such a sad end to an amazing anime. I don't like it very much, but then again manga is always better than the anime, so I guess I better start reading.

My reaction is basically in between "WTF?" and "heh.. Ciel and Sebastian will be together forever.. :3". But seriously, wtf?
The ending "I look forward to a day when we might meet again"? Season.. 3..? With Ciel as a demon? That would be kinda awesome, but I don't know. I like the open ending.
BUT NO CIEL/SEBBY KISS? D:

Sebastian could cut off his own arm and kill Ciel before it grows back (because that's the moment in which their contract is not valid anymore), only that he actually cannot kill Ciel because the only way to kill a demon is stab him with Hannah's sword (which now is in the bottom of the sea). So... well, is life is over.

Half me is "okay, why couldn't Sebby just eat his damn soul", the other half of me is "WOOO, COOL, CIEL IS A DEMON". If they make a third season about demon Ciel, and all that jazz. I would actually like. It would hopefully redeem Kuroshitsuji for having a HORRIBLE second season, that barely made any sense. Also, I wasn't aware it was possible to be "U can b a demon now lulz". Kind of cool twist, but not a lot of sense made.

If there is a third season:
1) I demand to see Sebby's true form
2) I demand to have Ciel be freaking haus as hell, and have some coolio demon characteristics (like how Sebby is a crow and Claude was a spider)

I'm sorry for Sebastian, really. I mean before he was a demon full of vitality who was happy to do his job (even if it was a real chore) because he wanted Ciel's soul so much, but now he's like... I don't know, like Cinderella doing slave labour for the evil stepstister. He said he had "lowered himself to work as a butler in order to obtain Ciel's soul", meaning that he considered the job of a butler shameful. Now that he's forced to be a butler forever, to him it will feel like they took away his dignity as a demon. One thing is being a servant for humans but knowing that in truth he's superior to them all, another is being a butler within his own kin.
No seriously, he didn't deserve this. It's not right that Claude who did far worse things, now gets to play the happy family forever in a peaceful nirvana while Sebastian is mocked and ridiculized by Ciel. But this what Alois wished for (I guess the favoritism had a lot to do with the fact that Alois loves Claude no matter what but could never stand Sebastian). I know Alois did this mostly to give Ciel a chance to live and find happiness, but he also said that he "wanted the demon to see the love in front of him slip away", just like he saw Claude's love but knew he couldn't have it. So he knew he was condemning Sebastian to this kind of life when he made the contract.
Alois always detested Sebastian, even when he discovered he didn't kill his brother, it was just a matter of principle, he simply couldn't stand his face, I don't know.

I am actually glad it is over, so I can quit waiting for it to get good again.

It had some nice points, but overall it felt rushed, like they were just going for the fangirl buzz and threw something out there to keep the popularity going, like it was made by someone who never had anything to do with the first season/manga etc.

I am disappointed, and I doubt I am alone in that, judging by some of the other comments.

Poor Sebastian. Now he is cursed to serve Ciel for all eternity. I see why he wasn't that happy at the ending.

To AvidRobot, I prefer that if they make a third season they should reboot everything and start from the beginning, also, they should follow the manga instead of doing other random endings.

The ending is quite easy to understand.

When Seby was in the labyrinth Ciel took control of his body for a short time, and gave an order to Seb "Save me, stay with me forever" (something like that) and Seb said yes. Sebastian has to obey that order until the day his able to eat Ciel's soul. However Alois made a new contract while in Ciel's body which was to make Ciel a demon in order to make Sebastian loses what desires the most (Ciel's delicious soul).

Now Sebastian have to stay as Ciel's butler until the day he completes the contract by eating Clie's soul, which he no longer has. Now he could walk away, but since he gave that order. Sebastian must obey and stay with him.
Sebastian will never be free since completing the contract in no longer a option.

I actually kinda liked the ending. I mean I was expecting a WHOLE lot worse.
If you think about it, we were all debating between who was going to get Ciel's soul. But I'm not sure how many of you considered that no one would get his soul.
I thought that the conclusion was creative, if not seemingly well though out.
The ending probably would have been better if the few episodes before it weren't complete crap. But oh well, at least I got my Kuroshitsuji fix.

How many want to start bets for a season 3?
No way they would leave everything with such a vague ending like that

I liked everything about this episode, I simply think destiny was unfair to Sebastian, that's all.
In general, I am satisfied.
I don't want a third series because it would only show how the disgust and the hate between Ciel and Sebastian deepens and I think they can spare us that.
