Ya, some of my anime and tv shows I put on an external hardrive just until I watch them or whatever. Sometimes, I download directly onto the external drive just because I don't have much space on my computer.

Yeah, I'd definitely try to shell out for 1TB at least. They aren't too expensive.

I download from mostly rapidshare links in every 4-5 months then store it in my 2 TB external (about 1.6 TB is used).

Yes, I have an external hard drive that pretty much is 80% downloaded anime. For the most part, though, I do wind up buying most of what I download.

I can't bring myself to delete some of them in case I feel like making AMVs (some of them are good quality) or just because they took forever to find initially. Since I don't really have the money to invest in another hard drive, I'll have to start deleting some of them.

I have 1 TB external hard drive but I really don't want to put anything there since it's pretty slow.

well anyways, External Hard drives with a seperate power supply are known to break down 2-3 years later due to shitty construction for the sata to usb converter easily overheats if left on for long periods of time which in turn deteriorates the converter.

Seriously? Crap, it's about time for me to invest in a new one, then. I don't have nearly enough patience to re-download all that crap.

I don't store all of my anime on an external hard drive. I've burned some anime on DVD discs. Most of the anime I recently have downloaded I store on the internal hard drive of my laptop.

None of these. I usually just stream anime or go out and purchase it if they make good dubs. :P

2x 2TB external and 1x 4TB as backup. Also some on the internal because I'm a lazy ass.

No but I really should. I have a 1TB external harddrive just waiting for me to use it.

A mix of both for me; I prefer having physical copies of my media (because I'm a hoarder and collector) but if no physical copies exist that I can play on my platforms then I'll download them. Think I might need a new external HDD. 2tb ain't enough for the amount of anime I plan to watch.

I delete episodes immediately after watching as I do not see a point in keeping them. That I happen to download them to an external drive, well — I primarily bought it for storing music, but it serves as a proper momentary storage for anime, as well.

Yeah, I have an external 1TB hard drive, but I don't have much since in order for me to store it digitally I'd have to: really like it a lot and it would have to have rewatch value. Then it would have to be unlicensed, because I don't DL something I could just buy.

These are all very old replies so hey, 2023 here! :D
I used to watch everything on streaming services, never rly had the habit of downloading anime. Recently, however, I've decided to do just that: I bought a 2TB external drive solely for the purpose of archiving my favorite and to-watch anime + some movies. Nowadays, my plan-to-watch list isn't as big and I'm getting more "stoic" with what I choose to watch, so I'm not too worried about running out of space.

I'm priorizing old classics and such for the sake of keeping them alive, honestly. I'm so glad I was able to find Kaze to Ki no Uta and have it on my pc now :')

Just had a funny thought: keeping a whole drive of anime is also a great way to combat the parenting method of just leaving your kid in front of the TV. It's not ideal to just have your kid watch anime all day, but if you choose the anime on your pc, you can at least curate it better and have them watch something better instead lol

Edit: my account says "Joined Oct 2021" but in reality I just deleted my account back in uuuh 2018. I've been watching anime since 2012~13 haha

Crucial make good portable storage devices in the $50 to $100 USD price range.

The US Computer Technology Company Trend Micro is the maker of Crucial storage and Dr Safety Anti Virus Software.

They've been making safe trusted products for more than 30 years.

Sandisk, WD Western Digital, Kingston and Toshiba all make safe, fast, small pocket size portable SSDs (and HDDs) in the 1 to 2 TB + $50 to $100 USD price range.

Seagate products are more affordable .... but they are less well made than Toshiba, WD Western Digital, Kingston, Sandisk and Crucial.

With other device manufacturers you may not get as much quality and product support or safety.

With some uh products from uh Ch!n4 uh your cheap storage device may be sold to you loaded with stuff that breaks US Data Security Laws... and that breaks Data Security Laws in a lot of countries.

I currently use Trend Micro security software on my phone and their Crucial X9 2TB SSD portable drive. I would be okay with a Sandisk or WD. Some of the Sandisk drives are highly waterproof + highly drop + smash + impact resistant.

How well your storage device is made is important because... accidents do happen.

All of these companies drives have certificates to show exactly how strong they are and how much damage they can take and still keep on working.

I stream anime, download then delete after watching is what I've been doing for the past 10 years or so. Not going to change.

wtf is happening here?!
I thought dvd\cd .. etc are already dead and gone like 10 years ago or so. Looks like weebs and console peasants are keeping the industry alive. I wonder, is there any VHS enthusiasts here? No offense, I'm just really surprised.

Back in my "Straw Hat" days, yes. I also double down by having copies of files on SD cards and coupling those with card readers so I can easily access them on my phone.

I'm not updated with the computer hardware market stuff anymore but, I think a Western Digital Blue (or Green) drive would suffice if just for storing files. Might prefer to choose a model without fancy features for a cheaper price.

No, I only store porn. I'm not a weirdo lmao
Only my xvideos bookmarks throw a "deleted video" message, anime has never done that.

I delete everything right after watching it, there's no point in it because I do not rewatch and I'm not a collector. I used to have a folder full of movies for years but since I'm not really into movies anymore I did catch up and is almost empty now.

Yes, I do it for only stuff I care about. Like Naruto.
