This doesn't mean anything, so you don't need to worry about it. Most anime movies with US releases are usually eligible for nominations. Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Ressha-hen was also eligible.

I believe 5 or 7 anime are now eligible for nominations in the Oscars. Out of them, Demon slayer already has won an international award.
Ne zha 2 might not make it because its Chinese.

Not that likely actually. Currently Arco and Little Amelié have probably more chance to win.
If popularity would matter, then Kimetsu no Yaiba would easily get a nomination, which is not that obvious.

The likely nominations are Kpop Demon Hunters, Arco, Little Amelié and if Zootopia 2 is good, they will nominate it and the 5th spot is questionable.

Ive heard a lot of positive reviews for Zootopia 2 upcoming. I think it might be one of the strongest nominees, along with K-pop: Hunter, to win the award. But still, Im happy to see Csm get recognized here and it would be amazing if it actually won in "another dimension"

Believe me, I would love for chainsaw man the movie to be nominated, best, animated, film of the year, but who are we kidding Hollywood does not like to acknowledge anime outside of studio Gibley. This is the same Hollywood who nominated the boss baby, but left a silent voice out of the nominations, even though the anime films this year, especially is very apparent have been kicking Hollywood ass. I don’t mean to be pessimistic I’m just being realistic you even though in my personal opinion, chainsaw man, the movie is one of the best animated films of the year

@sailaway30 One correction, they also nominated one Hosoda movie in the past, Mirai no Mirai. There's also an eligible Hosoda movie this year, Scarlet, but the reception wasn't as good as in the other 2 anime movies' case.

Getting an Oscar nomination is the highest honor Chainsaw Man could receive atp. No way the Academy is watching a 12-episode TV show or reading up on Fujimoto's insane creative history to appreciate the foundation laid for Reze Arc. And yes, they can get f**ked for the Boss Baby debacle. Now that was sheer robbery.

Good thing though is that CSM will get even more exposure in the mainstream, and remind a few anime-onlies to pick it up again.

I think I have a fairly good sense of what the Academy members' tastes are generally like, and I feel like it will be unlikely that the Reze-hen movie will win it.

It's pretty crazy though that Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer are eligible for consideration for the Oscars though—crazy in a good way lol

It won't win(probably not even nominated), because it's the sequel to a series and no way the committee members would watch a season of anime before watching the movie. Also it's rare for any sequel to win anyways. Same with Demon slayer btw.

It's rather obvious that no anime will win.. It's not even known if they'll get nominated, and people are already getting excited. Anime doesn't really count at these kinds of events, and I don't know about other movies, but DS and Chainsaw Man are sequels.I can't imagine the jury suddenly having to catch up on the previous seasons to understand more or less what's going on XD

The voters arent gonna watch season 1 of CSM just to watch the movie, so i see it hard for it to get nominated vs movies without prequels and this year we found out voters dont even need to watch all nominees to even vote, so most animation voters watch the disney movie or whatever super popular movie that came out and watch both of those and vote for whatever

I don't think the Oscars are ready yet for anime franchise movies... I have a feeling that K-pop Demon Hunters will get a nomination, though.

I think 100 Meters deserves at least a nomination, but I'm sure that most Academy members won't even watch the movie before voting.
