So, to sum things up:

If you're into cosplay and makeup, you'll probably have had a great time with this season.

If that's not the case and you've been hooked by the romance and the developments and interactions between the characters, then this season has been VERY CHEESY, boring and ridiculous.

What an absolutely brilliant final episode, but please please please don’t let this be the actual ending for the Anime adaptation.

Absolutely love this series from beginning to end just like the first one. They took everything that was great about season one and the manga and continue to develop it even more here to make it just as great if not better. I would say in the end, they have dealt with the subtle emotions and feelings of all of the individual main characters here right to the end. This seemed to take a lot more precedence in season two on average. I’ve felt a lot more than the budding romance that we got in season one. This was incredibly unique I’ve found from my experience of other series out there, however it has meant that we haven’t gotten a full romantic conclusion yet with Marin and Gojo. At least not one we can be entirely happy with.
I like how she asked in the end if he would take a selfie with her, which in a way is very much the ‘modern day equivalent’ of saying you are in a relationship with somebody to the rest of the world, especially if you posted online. Perhaps that was the easiest way for her to go about it as she’s still not quite ready (even for someone like her) to potentially risk the relationship they currently have right now for a little bit longer. I feel like that is what they were showing at the end with the flashback moments of all of the things they’ve done together and seeing him come out of his shell, and that’s why she came to say that instead.

Hope her phone didn’t go over the edge there.😂

Please though, don’t let this be the final season. With the amazing quality we’ve had across the board with both seasons 1 and 2, it would be heartbreaking to leave it here instead and have to go over to the manga. Nothing against reading manga source materials of course, but it just can’t compare really in this case. I feel to the quality we’ve gotten from this anime adaptation with the amazing subtleties, truly beautiful background work both from photo references (clearly used from real life and painted and rented on top to create some more detailed scenes) and fully hand painted on top of the sometimes full ‘body animation shots’ that are impossibly rare in anime these days, especially for every day body clothing movements.
It truly brings the world of cosplay to life in the way we’ve never seen before, and may never see again in anime form.😭❤️
This, along with our star cast’s budding relationship, is something we just aren’t ready to give up just yet, and I’ll keep my fingers tightly crossed until we get any definitive news.

this season is total disappointment
only few funny moments for me, boring and more guide how to be cosplayer and how to behave in it than anime.. and ofcourse failed confession
total downgrade from season 1...

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

It looks really good as a whole but this season was definitely a lot more boring content-wise than the first season. Not like I was a fan of season 1 but there were at least episodes and certain moments that stood out to me as really good-great in there. This season was lacking that, and couldn't find it much even with the group cosplay in this episode. I think Gojo progressed a bit, which was fine, but that was really about it. A lot of the other interactions and moments this season felt lacking to me to be honest.

Nice Last episode, and it looks like Marin fail to confess... But a selfie with someone you love is a great start!

Abysmal drop in quality from the first season. This show is by far the biggest disappointment of the year for me. Hopefully they can right the ship if there is a 3rd season.

So Mira is being played by Shinju Inui, Claire is being played by Sajuna Inui (or Juju), Sophia is being played by Akira Ogata, Charlotte is being played by Miyako, and Rose is being played by yours truly, Marin Kitagawa, and Emma is being played by Amane Himeno, real name Chitose Amano. Will Marin actually confess her feelings in this episode, or will we have to wait until next season?

So Akira ended up being a huge fan of Marin, and simply gets EXTREMELY NERVOUS around her, which is why she didn’t want to be around her, and Sajuna only did this cosplay for Shinju’s sake, which I suspected given how her puppy dog eyes got Sajuna to even entertain the idea of this cosplay to begin with, so it makes sense.

At least we know that Akira is just the ultimate Marin glazer, and she aggressively gave Wakana proper credit for making the costume in the first place, which I loved to see given Akira’s more timid personality. It’s such a contrast.

And it seems that despite Marin saying that she was gonna do it, SHE DIDN’T CONFESS HER FEELINGS TO WAKANA, MEANING THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SEASON 3 (ASSUMING THERE WILL BE ONE) BEFORE ANY PROGRESS IS MADE ON THAT FRONT.

Well I’ll be looking forward to it!

All that and she doesn't tell him sigh
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Akira-san’s misunderstanding scene and revelation was right on the point, lmao. Of course it wasn’t going to be her hating Princess, am I right? Her “huh?” being the loudest of the lot was hilarious and Marin-chan finding out about it was fantastic!

Very solid season, overall. For the proposal being reduced to a selfie shot is hilarious but pretty much sums up the romantic progression this season, lol. I like seeing this vulnerable and doubtful side of Marin-chan but there’s got to be a limit (well a little).

Respect to Inui-san for not ruining the moment for her younger sister. I hate horror stuff too and the fact that she was learning about the final bits of the plot in person was funny from third person view but I would’ve crumbled for sure if I were in her shoes.

Genki Op & Kawaii kowai that really got me into the tone of the show, going to miss this for sure and I’ve found a new artist to look forward to as well!

I'm loved this season way better than season 1. This had a better OP and EN and way cooler ways to be eye candy. I loved the puppet scenes this season even if there were only 2. I hope we get a season 3 due to me interested in how they would adapt the rest of the story that people say went downhill. 10/10 for me.

So after an entire season of getting ready to confess, she doesn't confess, but instead takes a selfie and drops her phone. Just wow. Talk about bait and switch.

And this misunderstanding with Akira was just too obvious to serve as a valid plot twist - everyone and their mother saw it coming from a mile away. I didn't expect Akira to be so psychotic about it, but I knew this was coming from the start.

We got some more siscon brooding going on, again, nothing we already didn't know.

At least the shoot was fun, they did a good job with the props and stuff. Gojo did well, though again, when does he not?

A disappointing finale all around. It just felt like the writer went on vacation before they'd written this chapter and it was up to the interns to finish the job. Not great.

Since this episode marks the end of this season, and I see a lot of people saying we got no development on our couple's relationship, I would like to point what I see as progression, "cosplay-wise":

1. Arisa's cosplay (the bunny girl): We see for the first time Gojou being comfortable among a large group of people, not just Marin and fellow cosplayers, and not only that, he realizes that having a kind of traumatic experience as a child does not mean he has to be ashamed of what he likes, as his new friends tenderly accepts him as part of the group, and they encourage him to keep working on the dolls he loves. We also see Marin and Gojou "facing" the idea of being a couple, as Nowa (and everyone else) thought that they were already dating. For the first time, we see Marin being more "physical" on her relation with Gojou, when shen gives him a kiss... yes, when he is in a large costume, and he thought she was clicking her tongue, but it's still something. And more importantly, we see for the first time Gojou being "possessive" over Marin.

2. Rei's cosplay: We continue with Gojou's progression as he not only has friends now, but he also is willing to rely on them, as when he asked Kensei to teach Marin "how to act manly". This arc was heavely focused on Gojou being more open to other people, so there isn't much to say about it, BUT, we have that final scene when he's looking at Marin on stage and recalls that time he "fell in love" with hina dolls. I think this is pretty important, as so far, we knew (and Gojou knew) that he felt attracted to Marin, but I think this is the time he realizes he is actually in love with her.

3. Rose's cosplay (the nuns): This arc started with Marin's misunderstanding of Gojou being all in for their relationship, and, despite some people think this was made just for the lols, I stick with Marin's own words: "Seriosuly, I'm so shocked over this, I can't get it over. I mean, I thought we'd finally be able to start going out. I should really tell Gojou-kun that I like him, that we shloud go out". THIS is the set-up for a final season, with a proper declaration from her. This is the moment Marin realizes that she can't keep going with things the way the've been so far, that she NEEDS more. She's not comfortable with just being Gojou's friend, she need them to be dating, and she's resolute of telling him her feelings, despite her being afraid of being rejected... and of course, she will not be able to do so on her first try, did you really think we were getting a confession this season? but anyway, she already put her mind on it, and it's just a matter of time now. As a bonus, I would like to point how Marin asked for Gojou's "permission" of using a bought cosplay. It was a really short scene, but I feel it's actually really important, as their whole relationship so far has been revolving around Gojou making Marin's costumes, so, in a way, this is him telling her that they can still be together, even if he's not "being useful". He just likes being around her, and this is such a subtle way of saying it.

All this makes a pretty solid season for me, and I didn't even say a word of other characters own presentation and development, the most interesting clearly being Amano, as he is kind of a grown up version of Gojou.

Add to that a flawless work from CloverWorks on animation and a marvelous OST, and I think this season is even better than the first one, which I already loved.

@PurpleMario Leave them be, people are so childish about this just because they didn't get a kiss or whatever.

I know most people acting like that are anime-only watchers so I can kinda understand but they are still in the wrong by review bombing the anime because of that , Cloverworks had the stupid idea to stop this season right when serious things were about to happen, right when we were about to start a very serious and romantic arc about just the two of them (supporting characters barely appear after coffin cosplay, only Akira gets to reappear a bit more to help Gojo for final cosplay).

By not supporting this second season and saying it's trash everywhere , Cloverworks wil not bother to do a sequel and these people will never get what they want lol.

I'm not here to spoil what happens but it's very well known at this point that if we get a season 3 it will be the last one and it's pretty obvious that if it's the last one, some good stuffs will happen in it...

Cloverworks is such a stupid studio too to have done this , I'm sorry but nobody would have complained if they took one more year or maybe two more to cover more episodes and finish this series with a second cour, there's 30 chapters left in the story, that's literally 10 episodes worth of content (season 1 reached chapter 30 on EP10) people already waited 3 years without any updates or news anyway...

Such a weird state this series is now in tbh lol.

@Saizo32 Well, as far as I know, this second season was never planned to begin with. We only got it because of how well received the first one was, and that's after it finished airing. Production takes a lot longer than people think it takes, specially pre-production is a pain in the ass, so the 3 years we had to wait for this season is a rather common time of production. Just think about OPM, which's third season already had green-light when season 2 ended, and it took 6 years for it's release. Uzumaki was also at least 5 years in production hell. Yuri on Ice's movie was cancelled after being 7 years in pre-production. It's becoming a norm this days that season are split in two parts, and for some reason that upset fans a lot, because the name "season 1 part 2" is too obnoxious compared to "season 2" (honestly, I don't get it), but that has it's origin on the planning part of production. Animation studios have nothing to do with that. To put it in simple terms, production team decides to do an "extended season" (that is, 22-26 episodes) and gives the funds to produce it (no, studios DO NOT put their own money in here, in fact, most studios are broken), but, for whatever reason, the decide is better to release it in two batches, be it because TV schedules are already taken, or as a petition from the animation studio, or as a way to create hype around the second part, whatever. Then, why didn't KiseKoi get a third season (or a season 2 part 2) confirmation already? I can't say it, because I have no idea, but it's most likely that it's still in pre-production and/or it doesn't have green-light yet. Maybe it will never get it. But honestly, production teams don't give a fuck about occidental reviewbombers, as long as it's well received in Japan, it will probably be produced. If it was for the occidental market, shows like Sazae-san wouldn't even exist. I guess that while in production of season 2 they asked the mangaka how much was left for the manga to end and took a decision from there, gave us only a small hint about the last cosplay (I have faith) and maybe they're in the planning process, thinking if it's better to do a movie or a seasonal anime for the last part. If there's only 30 chapters more to adapt, it is more likely to do so a la SnK and make two final special/movies rather than a whole season... so... yeah, I think we just have to be patient.

Oh, and about my mini-review of this season, actually, it is not my intention to prove anyone wrong. If people desperately want a kiss from Gojou and Marin, they are allowed to want it. I do too lol. I just wanted to show how plot progression and character development actually works, because, if we just got to the kiss and dating without going through the points I mentioned, it may be "satisfactory", but it would also be unrealistic. Writting takes time, you can't just skip steps to get your fans jumping from pure joy. Romance, specially, must be cooked in slow burn. And if you take in consideration the differences in culture (which you should always do, not all of us live in my beloved Latinoamerica), then KiseKoi's pace is by no means "too slow". I'm personally pretty pleased with this show's pace, and can't wait for the climax our beloved characters deserve.

@PurpleMario

I think you misunderstood , my post wasn't aimed at you but more about the people complaining lol , I literally just said "Leave them be , they'll never get what they want if they complain" and no matter what you said overseas's reaction has become a huge part on studio's / production committee decision to do sequel or not, one of the producers of MDUD season 2 literally said this in an interview few days before it released :

Yes I know animation , production etc takes time, you should check my posts on the thread talking about a sequel , you don't need to tell me all of this , yes I know it would have taken 2 years or more to do a second part of season 2 , the final epilogue included in the final Volume even released while the second season was airing anyway so the staff probably had no idea what it will be about, and most of the final arc chapters released while the second season was in production anyway.

My point was that this was a stupid idea to emphasize so much about Marin's confessing her feelings when Manga readers knew it would go nowhere (half of the stuffs from the final EP is anime original btw , in the Manga she didn't try to say "I love you" to her plush , she didn't freak out when Gojo was around her and the whole scene at the end after Akira's reveal is anime-original) by doing that they pissed off the anime-only watchers, in the Manga, Marin's plan to confess is taken way less seriously than the anime.

All I said is that if they took the time to just adapt everything and waited 2 more years, nobody would have complained, anime-only watchers would have gotten the last arc with ton of romantic development , Author would get her Manga fully adapted (very rare) and Manga readers would have been happy to see the best arc animated with this level of quality, but no , they just stopped this season at the worst possible time on top of emphasizing something pretty irrelevant in the Manga to something very serious when we knew it would go nowhere thus pissing a lot of viewers AND they don't even announce anything after , making it look like this is the end of the anime so they end the anime on a bait and troll basically (from an anime-only watcher POV this is 24 EPs of tease for a selfie lmao).

So yes, very bad decision all around, that's all I said, and attacking/review bombing the anime won't help, these guys will not get what they want if they do this, I know it's annoying but we really should support this season 2 so we can get the last arc animated, everybody will be happy after if it happens.

This episode pretty much sums up S2 as a whole for me: "Not bad, but still quite the letdown."

I loved S1 because it managed to balance ecchi, cute/akward moments between Gojo/Marin and comedy, while also teaching the viewer some stuff about cosplay.

The first episode of S2 is imo the best episode of S2, because it too manages to balance these factors, but after E1, both the comedy and ecchi basically gets thrown out the window (be honest, how many times did you genuinely *laugh* between E2-E12?) and the main reason most of us are here; Gojo and Marins relationship/interactions, is relegated to the backseat for the vast majority of the season.

After S2E1 the show instead shifts towards introducing a bunch of new sidecharacters (several whom are quite uninteresting) and cosplay in general.
No more ecchi, basically no more comedy, and very few sweet moments between Gojo and Marin. S2 basically feels like a completely different show than S1...

Fingers crossed for S3, because while S1 is one of my favorite shows of all time (a strong 9/10), S2 was at best a weak 8/10, almost a 7/10.

This was a good season, however, I don't think I would put it above S1.

Skimming S1 and then S2 again, the reason is pretty clear. It seems like S1 had a lot more episodes focused on just Gojo and Marin (8 or 9) and a couple that were half focused on them. S2 had maybe half that, many more episodes were primarily focused on other characters.

I didn't dislike the new characters. But I tend to not enjoy shows that introduce countless characters and make them more than a background character but not fleshed out either. I would have rather the time be spent on Marin's friends, her dad, Gojo's family, etc. Akira, Amane, Miyako, etc just felt like random additions. While the show did try and give them development, their backstories took away time from the main couple. At least the show did bring back Juju and Inui, it was nice to see them again.

While I do wish we had more interactions between the main couple than we got, the moments that were there were VERY strong. Marin had some good romantic development this season. It was adorable to see her melt into nothing every episode lol. Gojo, didn't see much romantic progression but he definitely was growing in terms of becoming more confident and interacting with other people. Moments like episode 1 and the culture festival were great examples of this. I loved these moments too and imagine that it will yield to a stronger end result.

As an anime only, it's not clear whether the next (and final) source adaptation would be more like S1 or more like S2. Regardless of how it turns out, I hope we can see the final bits of the source adapted.

It will be like season 1 without the Fanservice basically (we barely see any supporting characters from S2 after Coffin arc besides Akira) so like I said, if you guys really want romantic development, support this season as much as you can (even if you disliked it) just so we can get the final arc animated , everyone will be happy at the end, trust me it will be worth it.

It is time for the group to do the 'Coffin' horror game group cosplay. Marin decides to tell Gojo that she likes him after the group cosplay. Feels a bit rushed but a good show nonetheless.

Gojo manages to progress in this season though would prefer the progress be a bit more. We learn that Akira is a huge fan of Marin but she doesn't know how to react if in front of Marin so she rather has nothing to do with her. Akira calls Marin the princess. This comes as a surprise to Gojo and Amano who thought Akira hates Marin. Marin is so happy to know Akira is cute and does not hate her.

I am feeling satisfied with anime I don't mind if they don't make another season, because selfie scene was completely anime original, there is not content to make into anime season just read the manga from chapter 86 to 115.5 almost 4 volumes of the manga where Cloverworks covered 1-39 chapters in season 1 and 40-86 chapters in season 2 , 40 chapters per season where season 3 is gonna have 29 chapters, very low chapters for another seasons, I don't think they will another season but content is very low unless they added some filler anime original episode like spy x family.

I gave this 8/10 because I got bored and couldn't continue to watch this last season but I watched in regional dubbed I really enjoyed that dubbed I can understand and also anime.

The coffin group cosplay was amazing and I had so much fun watching it. Even though Juju-sama initially forced herself to do it just to make her sister happy, she eventually admitted that she enjoyed cosplaying with everyone, which was really sweet. Gojo and Akira absolutely nailed the props they looked so realistic that if this weren’t anime, I’d probably feel sick just looking at them. The animation was incredible as always; CloverWorks really delivered again. In the end, Marin’s love confession didn’t happen, but I think it might’ve been too early anyway, so let’s just hope we get a third season soon.

@YoAraragi just read the manga from chapter 86 , it's 29 chapters to read you can finish in one night, Don't expect another season but there is not much content in the manga to make 12 episodes of seasons

@RoyalDemon05 It's not 29 chapters. They did not adapt 86 fully and they'll have to go back to it another way if it gets a season 3 because chapter 86 is essential to the next arc and they cut it to do their (bad) anime original scene in the final EP of S2 so they'll have to create an anime-original scene to recreate it as a season 3/movie opener (if it ever happen) which will take time.

After that, you probably didn't read the epilogue after chapter 115 (for some reason A LOT of people forget about it because it's technically not out in the US yet, it's part of Volume 15) so it's actually 31 chapters left, 31 chapters that are longer than the usual chapter length, final arc has some of the longest chapters of the series (season 1 adapted 39 chapters) chapter 87 has literally 30 pages meaning episode 1 of season 3 could literally just adapt only two chapters (chapter 86 anime-only recreated and chapter 87).

So for the 6060540604th time here, yes there is enough content for a 12 episodes season , especially if they add a bit more original content (they'll have to anyway for the very first episode of season 3).

You should read the epilogue btw, reading what you said I'm 99% sure you didn't read it lol, it could be its own final episode too.

@Saizo32 I was about to read the manga after the anime, also Don't expect another season of this anime since manga is finished and gave original selfie ending on final episode, They have completely moved on from this anime if this anime doesn't get movie or season announcement in a year then it's over

And total chapter 115 - 86 adapted chapter = 29 chapter left, my math is not wrong when I said only 29 chapters left

@RoyalDemon05 Your math is WRONG.

86 is NOT adapted , like I said (you need to read people's post) they cut Chapter 86 after adapting 2-3 pages to go right into their anime-only scene so the remaining panels of this chapter needs to be adapted because IT LITERALLY INTRODUCE THE FINAL COSPLAY you can't do a sequel without adapting chapter 86 or at least create an original scene similar to it.

So we have Chapter 86 = One chapter

Chapter 87 to go until chapter 115 = 29 chapters

29 chapters + one chapter = 30 (quick maths)

30 + The Epilogue Chapter = 31 CHAPTERS LEFT TO ADAPT

That makes it 31 chapters left and like I said some of them are the LONGEST of the series with like 30 pages, they can easily make another season out of this.

Also how do you know that they moved on from this anime ? You work at Cloverworks ? You work at Aniplex ? Nobody knows, I agree that if in one year there's nothing we will need to move on but for now literally nobody knows what the future holds, the Japanese voice actress for Marin literally said "I'll see all of you in the anime sequel" when they said their goodbyes in the final show for this season so I think she might know more stuffs than you do lmao.

@Saizo32 because it's common on every anime nowadays, after two seasons they become radio silent many years passed without any seasons announcement, I know because there is lots of anime title which never got another seasons.

Surpise end on original anime is already telling me , they done with this series

@RoyalDemon05 Oh so no comment about the maths ? I guess I proved you were wrong then , 31 chapters left not 29 , let's move on.

I agree that the anime original ending is not a good sign but it doesn't mean it 100% won't have a sequel , remember that season 2 wasn't even planned so they were supposed to end it as it is but changed their minds after seeing that so many people bought stuffs like merchs , blu-rays etc... It could happen again, Manga is over yes but it still sell a lot of things, Sono bisque is a crazy franchise in Japan.

Also , just in case you didn't know, early this year, Bocchi the rock got its sequel announced more than 2 YEARS after its season 1 ended (ended in December 2022, sequel announced in February 2025) and it's done by Cloverworks so , who really knows ? Something similar can happen for Sono bisque doll and Bocchi is made by literally the same team too.

As long as nothing is confirmed, there is hope , like I said they can easily create an anime original scene as a season 3 opener to go back to that very important chapter 86 that they cut to introduce the final cosplay.

Great second season, just a shame the romance development was nothing but tease and no actual progress. Still it was quite a lovely watch!
