| @Zarutaku I usually do something similar, not exactly your idea, but close enough to it, in some of my previous tournaments. However, I didn’t use it this time because if I followed that point-based qualification method, it could cause complications later in the tournament, especially when the contest is near the end. For this contest, I'm planning to feature 5 winners and 10 honorable mentions, and determining those specific positions becomes tricky with your suggested y/n system. For example, suppose someone loses in the quarterfinals. If all quarterfinal losers have the same number of " y/n system" from the qualification stage, they'd end up tied in placement. It would be hard to fairly distinguish their rankings in a bracket format. But with the current setup, I can clearly define placements based on how far each character progresses like Round of 32, quarterfinal wins, semifinals, etc. using a point or tier system tied to actual position (1st-15th). That way, it's easier and fairer to decide who deserves a winner spot and who qualifies for honorable mention. |
