@nirererin Which ever sister left from "The Quintessential Quintuplets" nominate her for me.
@ZXEAN Only the elder and younger sisters are left. Which one should I add as your nomination? Also, kindly provide the MAL link, whoever you choose. |

Would Kuroko Shirai count? She doesn't lose the main heroine, but wants to get with her instead. So she actually loses to the main hero.
@Jackson1333 I've added Kuroko Shirai as your nomination. |

@nirererin I like both of them equally but I will choose Ichika Nakano the elder sister. Since I noticed that's one of your favourite character. |

@ZXEAN Ah, you’re right! Ichika has always been a standout for me. I love her complexity and the way she cares for her sisters, even though her feelings are a bit complicated. I thought no one would nominate her, as there are few people who like or support Ichika. Thank ^^ |

I nominate Juno from Beastars. Spoilers for Beastars: First she's into Legoshi (same species as her) which is fighting a losing battle from the start since he's always been into Haru the rabbit. Then she's into Louis the deer and that's also fighting a losing battle from the start because 1. he's an herbivore and it's sorta taboo in the society 2. the dude's had an arranged marriage decided for him since childhood, so even though he's kinda into her, he definitely won't choose her in the end because his daddy (CEO of the horns conglomerate) won't let him sully the family name like that. Also it's a good pick since there's probably no other furry characters yet on here as far as I'm aware lol (not that I'm a furry). |

@nirererin 1. is there an intention as to what the voting criteria are? Is it just about the best character among the losing heroines or the character with the best substory of the losing heroine? 2. So are more unknown characters now simply eliminated by design or have I misunderstood the voting system? I really don't want to vote for mediocre/bad characters if it elevates them above others I don't know, but who are probably better ... so I should exclude them from my vote, right? |

@ShinyLotus There’s no strict rule for the voting criteria. You can vote based on emotional impact, writing quality, how well the character fits the “losing heroine” theme, or simply your personal favorite among them. Whether it’s the depth of their arc or just how much you wanted them to win, it’s all valid. The goal is to celebrate these characters, not box them into one definition of “best.” As for lesser-known or more niche heroines, they’re absolutely not eliminated by design, always. But naturally, popularity do affect voting and if you see a character you’re unfamiliar with and aren’t confident in voting for them, it’s totally okay to skip them. You’re never obligated to vote for someone just to fill a slot. That said, if something about a lesser-known heroine stands out to you from their intro, you're encouraged to give them a chance, also to make even to put it in the bracket format with the qualified 32. |

@nirererin Wouldn't it be better if the qualification stage asked voters which characters they think qualify for the contest? (yes+1, no-1, idk-0) The top 32 with the most approval points would qualify for the next round, that would make the contest more democratic, and you would have less work to check characters yourself during the nomination period. |

@nirererin >At least I know understand that you intend to use 1v1 eliminations after qualifications - I missed that and thought this system will be repeated. I will just put some random characters that seem fine in my picks instead of letting the slots empty or filled with less liked ones. >With 1vs1 eliminations it's natural that some people will vote for the one character they know instead of only voting if they know both. But at least better behaved people have the option to not vote and let others decide. With this system you will give a character the worst possible outcome by simply not knowing and therefore not ranking them against each other. >While I dislike how the bracket system encourages to vote against characters one does not know to support a liked one and distorts results based on the characters random order, I understand it's advantage based on the more exciting, informative and incremental voting steps (opposed to e.g. just having one voting step where every character gets 1-5 points or pass). @Zarutaku I usually do something similar, not exactly your idea, but close enough to it, in some of my previous tournaments. However, I didn’t use it this time because if I followed that point-based qualification method, it could cause complications later in the tournament, especially when the contest is near the end. For this contest, I'm planning to feature 5 winners and 10 honorable mentions, and determining those specific positions becomes tricky with your suggested y/n system. For example, suppose someone loses in the quarterfinals. If all quarterfinal losers have the same number of " y/n system" from the qualification stage, they'd end up tied in placement. It would be hard to fairly distinguish their rankings in a bracket format. But with the current setup, I can clearly define placements based on how far each character progresses like Round of 32, quarterfinal wins, semifinals, etc. using a point or tier system tied to actual position (1st-15th). That way, it's easier and fairer to decide who deserves a winner spot and who qualifies for honorable mention. |
